Description
「生育(growth)」および「生育向上(enhancing growth)」は、当該技術分野において一般に知られた用語であり、本発明の方法の実施および/または本発明の組成物の投与なしで生じる増加に優る、重量および大きさ(例えば、身長、幅、直径、周径等)のどちらかまたは双方の増加を表す。生育は、動物全体または個別の組織(例えば、一般的に筋肉組織または特定の筋肉)のマス(例えば、重量または大きさ)の増加を表し得る。あるいは、生育は他と比較しての一組織のマスにおける相対的な増加、特に他の組織(例えば、脂肪組織)と比較しての筋肉組織における増加を示し得る。
実施例1
ブロイラー鶏にジルパテロールを1ppmで8日齢から56日齢まで連日給餌した。観察されたジルパテロールの性能応答は、比較的に小さかった。本研究においては、1.3〜2.6%の一日平均増体量(ADG)および0.6%〜1.9%の飼料効率(FE)における非有意の性能向上を報告した。しかし、ジルパテロールを1ppmで7週間毎日給餌したとき、枝肉歩留まりは対照に比較して2%だけ有意に改善された(P<0.01)。
非投与対照群と比較してジルパテロールの性能応答を評価するために、42日の床飼い(floor pen)研究においてブロイラー鶏にジルパテロール塩酸塩を給餌した。6つのジルパテロール処理群は、3つの濃度レベル(1、3および5ppm)および2つの給餌持続期間(7および14日間)から成り、非投与対照群を加えて飼料で投与した。合計1,680羽のブロイラー鶏を性別によって30羽/ペン(飼育区画)を有する56ペンに、および4ペン/性別/群(240羽/群)に割り当てた。7日間のジルパテロール処理は、35日齢に開始し42日齢まで継続した。14日間のジルパテロール処理は、28日齢に開始し42日齢まで継続した。全ての群の間の処理前平均体重(6のジルパテロール処理群および対照群)には、有意差がなかった。
42日間の研究の間、無作為完備型ブロック計画に従って、合計1,680羽のブロイラー鶏(Cobb 500株)を性別によってペン当たり30羽を有する56ペン(雄28ペン、雌28ペン)に割り当てた。6つのジルパテロール処理群を、7または14日間の2つの給餌持続期間(すなわち、それぞれ35〜42日または28〜42日)、および非補充(陰性)対照群に加えて1、3または5ppmの三つのレベルのジルパテロール濃度により2x3の要因配置に置いた。処理群を、無作為に性別によって各ブロック内のペンに割り当てた。
ADGは、双方の給餌持続期間(7および14日間)の間中、ジルパテロール濃度が増加するにつれて増加した。7日間の持続期間については、ADGは対照に比較して2つの最も高いジルパテロール濃度(3および5ppm)により有意に(p<0.05)増加した。ADGの増加はまた、ジルパテロールをそれぞれ3ppmおよび5ppm(p=0.0572およびp=0.0047)で14日間給餌したときにも観察された(表2および図1を参照されたい)。
7日間の持続期間については、FE(飼料/増体量)は対照に比較して2つの最も高いジルパテロール濃度(3および5ppm)により有意に改善された(p<0.05)。14日間の持続期間についてのFEにおける同様の改善が、これらと同じ(3および5ppm)濃度レベルでのジルパテロールにより観察された(表3および図2を参照されたい)。
研究の間中、非常に少ない死亡しか生じなかった。処理期間中(28〜42日)に合計52の死亡(3.10%)が生じた。どのレベル(1、3、5ppm)のジルパテロールの給餌も、どちらの給餌持続期間に対しても(7または14日間)、対照群と比較して平均死亡率に関して顕著な影響を有さなかった。
ジルパテロールは、対照群と比較して最も高いジルパテロール5ppm濃度(7および14日間の持続期間)で枝肉歩留まりを有意に(p<0.05)増加させた。枝肉歩留まりにおける同様の有意の(p<0.05)増加が、ジルパテロール1ppm(7日間の持続期間)およびジルパテロール3ppm(14日間の持続期間)濃度で観察された。胸肉歩留まりについては、対照群(25.46%)に比較してジルパテロール処理群(平均:24.57%)に統計的有意差はなかったが、しかし2つのジルパテロール処理群(1および3ppm、7日間の持続期間)は、やや低い胸肉歩留まりとなる傾向があった。
42日におけるより重い最終体重を生産するという総体的なジルパテロールの効果が(次のセクションを参照されたい)、より高い枝肉歩留まり(%)と相まって、ただし同様の(または場合によりやや低い)胸肉歩留まり(%)と相まって、より重い胸肉重量をもたらした。この効果は、ジルパテロール3ppm濃度レベルで14日間の持続期間に対して有意(p<0.05)であった。ジルパテロール5ppmにおいて7および14日間給餌したとき、胸肉の増加はまた観察されたが、やや高い有意なレベルであった(それぞれp=0.5070およびp=0.0580)。
対照の最終体重(4.7ポンド)は、42日以内に市場の最小目標値である4.5ポンドの鳥に優ったことより、床飼い研究の期間中許容可能な生育速度が達成されたことが確認された。ジルパテロールは、対照群に比較して特により長い(14日間)給餌持続期間のより高い濃度(3ppmおよび5ppm)において、最終体重(42日)を有意に(p<.05)増加させた。他のジルパテロール処理群(より低い濃度レベルおよびより短いジルパテロール給餌持続期間)もまた、以下の表に示す通りジルパテロールのレベルの増加が、最終体重を増加させたことを支持した。
以下を除いて実施例2に上述の通り、42日間の床飼い研究においてジルパテロール塩酸塩をブロイラー鶏に給餌する。7の濃度レベル(0、1、3、7、9、11および13ppm)および3の給餌持続期間(7、14または21日間)に対するジルパテロールの処理群が存在する。未投与対照群を除き、ジルパテロールを飼料中で投与する。ジルパテロール処理群は、21、28かまたは35日齢に給餌を開始する。ジルパテロールの給餌は、21かまたは14日間に対し21日に開始する。ジルパテロールの給餌は、14かまたは7日間に対し28日に開始する。最後に、もしより大きな目標体重の鳥を望むならば、ジルパテロールの給餌は、7日間またはより長い投与期間に対し35日に開始する。各飼料群内に、その1が各濃度レベルのための7つの亜群が存在する。各群/亜群に関して、示した給餌期間の最後に体重および他の性能特性を測定する。
Claims (11)
- 飼料中で約1ppmから約13ppmのジルパテロールを投与期間の間にブロイラー鶏に投与し、ここでジルパテロールがジルパテロール投与期間の間に連日投与され、そしてここで、ジルパテロール投与期間が、35日齢に開始され約7日間投与されるか、又は、28日齢に開始され約14日間投与されることによる、以下のパラメータ:
一日平均増体量(ADG)を増加させること;
飼料効率の値(FE)を低減させること;
枝肉歩留まりを増加させること;
の一または複数を改善することによってブロイラー鶏の性能を向上させるための方法。 - ジルパテロールがジルパテロール塩酸塩である請求項1の方法。
- ジルパテロール投与期間が35日齢に開始され約7日間投与される請求項2の方法。
