前記明るさ又は前記コントラスト若しくはそれらの両方は、前記ディスプレイ装置の少なくとも一つの主方向に実質的に平行な方向に沿って少なくとも一つの極大を有する。
Claims (23)
- ディスプレイ装置であって、
明るさとコントラストを有する画像を表示するように配置されたディスプレイ部を有し、
前記明るさ又は前記コントラスト若しくはそれらの両方は視野角の関数で与えられ、
前記明るさ又は前記コントラスト若しくはそれらの両方は複数の極大を有し、
各極大は前記装置の異なる主方向に対応しており、
前記異なる主方向は前記ディスプレイ部の平面に垂直な方向でなく、
前記装置は複数の照明手段を有し、
前記複数の照明手段はそれぞれ、前記複数の主方向の一つに平行な方向に沿って光を投射して前記画像を表示するように配置されており、
前記ディスプレイ装置は、前記複数の照明手段のそれぞれの照明強さを他の照明手段とは無関係に且つ前記ディスプレイ装置に入射する周辺の光の強さに基づいて調整し、
前記装置に周辺の光が入射する方向に基づいて、前記複数の照明手段のそれぞれの照明の強さを調整する、ディスプレイ装置。 - 周囲の光がディスプレイに入射したときに対応する前記照明手段の一つ又は複数の照明の強さを増加するように配置されており、前記照明手段の一つ又は複数から一つの主方向に沿って投射された光の強さが、前記主方向に沿って前記ディスプレイから反射された光の強さに対して、予め決められたレベルよりも低下した場合、前記主方向に沿った前記装置からの照明の相対的強さが大きくなる、請求項1の装置。
- 少なくとも一つの散乱手段を有し、
前記少なくとも一つの照明手段は前記少なくとも一つの散乱手段に向けて光を送るように配置されており、
前記少なくとも一つの散乱手段は、前記少なくとも一つの主方向に平行な方向に光を散乱して前記画像を表示するように配置されている、請求項1又は2のいずれかの装置。 - 前記複数の照明手段は、一次元配列、二次元配列、及び三次元配列の中から選択された一つの配列に配置されている、請求項1〜3のいずれかの装置。
- 前記複数の照明手段の少なくとも一つは少なくとも一つの照明部材を有する、請求項1〜4のいずれかの装置。
- 前記複数の照明手段の少なくとも一つは複数の照明部材を有する、請求項5の装置。
- 前記少なくとも一つの照明部材は、ソリッドステート光源と気相励起光源の中から選択された少なくとも一つを有する、請求項5又は6の装置。
- 複数の散乱手段を有し、前記複数の散乱手段はそれぞれ、異なる主方向に平行な方向に沿って光を散乱するように配置されている、請求項3,4〜7のいずれかの装置。
- 前記複数の散乱手段は、一次元配列、二次元配列、及び三次元配列の中から選択された一つの配列に配置されている、請求項8の装置。
- 前記複数の散乱手段はそれぞれ、少なくとも一つの散乱部材を有する、請求項3の装置。
- 前記少なくとも一つの散乱部材は、散乱性の散乱部材と光学的な反射散乱部材の中から選択された少なくとも一つを有する、請求項10の装置。
- ユーザが前記ディスプレイを前記複数の主方向の一つに平行な方向から見ることを必要とするか否かの判断に基づいて、前記複数の照明手段の一つ又は複数を他の照明手段とは無関係に活性化するように選択的に動作可能である、請求項1〜11のいずれかの装置。
- 前記ディスプレイ部は、前記照明手段から該照明手段を介して選択的に光を送り、それにより前記画像にコントラストを導入するように配置されたパネルを有する、請求項1〜12のいずれかの装置。
- 前記パネルは、該パネルを通り、前記主方向のそれぞれに平行な方向に沿って選択的に光を送るように配置されている、請求項13の装置。
- 前記パネルは、該パネルを通り、選択された前記複数の主方向の一つ又は複数に平行な方向に沿って光を送るように動作可能である、請求項14の装置。
- 前記パネルは液晶ディスプレイパネルを有する、請求項13〜15のいずれかの装置。
- 請求項1〜16のいずれかのディスプレイ装置を有する乗物。
- 前記装置は前記乗物のダッシュボードに設けられており、前記ディスプレイは前記乗物のドライバ又は助手席乗員に見える、請求項17の乗物。
- 前記装置は、前記ディスプレイから正常な着座位置にいる前記ドライバの目に向けて配置された第1の主方向と前記ディスプレイから正常な着座位置にいる前記助手席乗員に向けて配置された第2の主方向を有する、請求項18の乗物。
- 前記装置は、前記助手席乗員が前記乗物に着座しているときだけ、前記第2の主方向に沿って光を送るように配置されている、請求項19の乗物。
- 前記ディスプレイは、前記ドライバが前記乗物に着座しているときだけ、前記第1の主方向に沿って光を送るように配置されている、請求項19又は20の乗物。
- 画像を表示する方法であって、
前記方法は、
ディスプレイ装置のディスプレイ部に、視野角を関数として変化する明るさ又はコントラスト若しくはそれらの両方を有する画像を表示する工程と、
前記画像の前記明るさ又はコントラスト若しくはそれらの両方を複数の極大を有するように配置する工程を有し、
各極大は前記ディスプレイの異なる主方向に対応しており、
前記異なる主方向は前記ディスプレイ部の平面に垂直な方向でなく、
前記方法はまた、前記ディスプレイ装置に入射する周辺の光の強さを求める工程と、
前記ディスプレイ装置に入射する周辺の光の強さに応じて、前記ディスプレイ装置内に含まれる複数の照明手段の照明の強さを互いに無関係に調整し、前記複数の主方向のそれぞれに平行な方向に光を投射して前記画像を表示する工程と、
前記装置に周辺の光が入射する方向を判断する工程と、
前記周辺の光の入射方向に応じて、前記複数の照明手段のそれぞれの照明の強さを調整する工程を有する、方法。 - 前記複数の照明手段の一つから一つの主方向に沿って投射された照明の強さが、前記一つの方向に沿って前記ディスプレイから反射された光の強さに対して、所定レベルよりも低いように周辺の光が前記ディスプレイに入射する場合、前記複数の照明手段の対応する一つ又は複数の照明の強さを増加して、それにより、前記主方向に沿って前記装置から投射される照明の強さを増加する、請求項22の方法。
