Description
Claims (12)
- 複合材料を含む半透明部分を有する照明システムであって、
前記複合材料は、半透明の絶縁充填材料の中に埋め込まれた複数の離散的な発光ダイオード・モジュールを備え、
各発光ダイオード・モジュールは、発光ダイオード、および、少なくとも第1のモジュール電極と第2のモジュール電極とを備え、
前記第1のモジュール電極は、前記発光ダイオードのカソードと電気的に接続しており、かつ、前記第2のモジュール電極は、前記発光ダイオードのアノードと電気的に接続しており、
前記複合材料の単位体積当たりの離散的な発光モジュールの数量は、パーコレーション閾値を超えており、その結果、
前記複合材料の体積全体には、無作為に形成された導電性経路のネットワークがかけられ、
各導電性経路は、隣接する発光ダイオード・モジュールのストリングを備えており、
前記ストリング中の前記発光ダイオード・モジュールそれぞれの少なくとも1つのモジュール電極は、前記ストリング中の隣接する発光ダイオード・モジュールのモジュール電極と直接に物理的接触しており、
その結果、電圧が前記ストリング両端間に印加される場合、前記ストリング中の各発光ダイオード・モジュールに電流が流れ、それにより、前記ストリング中の各発光ダイオード・モジュールの前記発光ダイオードを活性化する、
ことを特徴とする照明システム。 - 各発光ダイオード・モジュールの前記モジュール電極は、モジュール電極間の体積を画成し、
前記発光ダイオードは、前記体積内部に位置し、
前記第1および第2のモジュール電極は、前記体積の相対する側の上にあり、
前記第1のモジュール電極と前記第2のモジュール電極との間に延在する軸が、前記体積の中心点を通過する、
請求項1に記載の照明システム。 - 各発光ダイオード・モジュールは、本体を備え、
前記本体の少なくとも一部は、半透明であり、
前記発光ダイオードは、前記本体の前記半透明部分の中に包含され、
前記発光ダイオードによって放射された光は、前記本体の外側から検出することができ、かつ、
各発光ダイオード・モジュールの前記第1および第2のモジュール電極のそれぞれは、前記本体の外部表面上に設けられた表面電極を備える、
請求項1または2に記載の照明システム。 - 各発光ダイオード・モジュールは、前記電圧の極性にかかわらず、
電圧差が前記第1および第2のモジュール電極の両端間に印加される場合、前記発光ダイオードまたは第2の発光ダイオードが活性化される、ように構成されている、
請求項1乃至3のいずれか一項に記載の照明システム。 - 各発光ダイオード・モジュールは、
前記発光ダイオードと、
前記第2の発光ダイオードと、を備え、
前記発光ダイオードの前記カソードおよび前記第2の発光ダイオードの前記アノードは、前記第1のモジュール電極と電気的に接続され、かつ、
前記第2の発光ダイオードの前記カソードおよび前記発光ダイオードの前記アノードは、前記第2のモジュール電極と電気的に接続されている、
請求項4に記載の照明システム。 - 各発光ダイオード・モジュールは、
前記発光ダイオードと電気的に接続されたブリッジ整流回路であり、前記第1および第2のモジュール電極の両端間に印加される前記電圧差の前記極性にかかわらず、前記発光ダイオードが活性化されるブリッジ整流回路、または
集積回路であり、前記第1および第2のモジュール電極の両端間に印加される前記電圧差の前記極性を決定し、かつ、より高い電圧を有する前記モジュール電極から前記発光ダイオードの前記カソードへ電流を流す経路を定めるように構成された集積回路、
を備える、
請求項4に記載の照明システム。 - 前記発光ダイオード・モジュールのそれぞれは、第3のモジュール電極および第4のモジュール電極を備え、
前記第3のモジュール電極が前記発光ダイオードの前記カソードと電気的に接続され、かつ、前記第4のモジュール電極が前記発光ダイオードの前記アノードと電気的に接続されているか、または、
前記第3のモジュール電極が別の発光ダイオードの前記カソードと電気的に接続され、前記第4のモジュール電極が前記別の発光ダイオードの前記アノードと電気的に接続されている、
請求項1乃至6のいずれか一項に記載の照明システム。 - 各発光ダイオード・モジュールの前記モジュール電極は、平面電極を備えている、
請求項1乃至7のいずれか一項に記載の照明システム。 - 各発光ダイオード・モジュールの前記モジュール電極の一方は凹面形状であり、かつ、
各発光ダイオード・モジュールの他方のモジュール電極は凸面形状である、
請求項1乃至7のいずれか一項に記載の照明システム。 - 各発光ダイオード・モジュールは、前記第1のモジュール電極と前記第2のモジュール電極の間に延在する軸と実質的に位置合わせされた磁気双極子を備える、
請求項1乃至9のいずれか一項に記載の照明システム。 - 前記照明システムは、
少なくとも2つの端子モジュールを備え、
前記端子モジュールは、前記ストリングの対向端部において前記発光ダイオード・モジュールと直接に物理的接触しており、
前記端子モジュールは、
前記発光ダイオード・モジュールのモジュール電極と物理的接触しているモジュール電極と、
電源から電力を受け取るため、または、電源に電力を伝達するための電力伝達要素と、
を備える、
請求項1乃至10のいずれか一項に記載の照明システム。 - 各発光ダイオード・モジュールの各モジュール電極は、絶縁層によってカバーされており、
電圧が前記ストリング両端間に印加される場合、直接に物理的接触している前記発光ダイオード・モジュールは、お互いに容量結合する、
