で表される。このような電極反応が連続的に行われることにより、電流が発生して発電が行われることとなる。
使用済みの紙オムツの破砕物を再利用して発電する生物燃料電池であって、
正極、負極、及びこれら正極及び負極を電気的に接続する外部回路と、
前記正極が配置された正極領域と、
前記負極が配置された負極領域と、
前記正極領域及び前記負極領域との間に配置されたプロトン透過膜と、
を備え、
前記負極領域に前記破砕物と共に生物触媒が収容される、
生物燃料電池において、
前記負極領域がメッシュにより電極領域と破砕物領域とに分離され、
前記電極領域内に前記負極が収容され、破砕物領域内に前記破砕物が収容される、
生物燃料電池が提供される。
これより、図1を参照して、第一の実施形態の生物燃料電池1について説明する。この生物燃料電池1では、燃料として、使用済みの紙オムツ、より具体的には紙オムツの吸収体に含まれるパルプ(セルロース)が使用される。
