Description
− (RHCPLの反射を仮定):入射光から右回りの円偏光成分が波長λ1〜λ2に関して第1の偏光器で反射される。これはこの範囲の光の最大50%であり、この範囲外の波長は透過される;
− 透過光は左回りの円偏光を有する。この光は液晶・色素層によって半波長分位相遅延され、これは光の偏光状態を右回りの円偏光光に変化させる;
− 領域λ1〜λ2におけるこの右回りの円偏光光は第2のコレステリック層によって反射される。波長板を通して戻る際に、光は再び左回りの円偏光光に変換され、システムを出る。
この実施例における構成は図2の調光ガラスに関する装置構成に従い、以下を含む:
− 同じ硬度のコレステリックLCポリマー層(上下)。これらは範囲780〜2000nmにおけるRHCPLを反射する;
− アゾベンゼンおよびアントラキノン系色素ベースの二色性色素の混合物を含む液晶・色素層。これは分子の長さに沿った吸収軸を有し、波長範囲350〜780nmにおいて吸収を示し、E7(Merck社製)などの液晶ホスト中に溶解される。液晶・色素層の層厚さは10μmである。上下の配向層はオフ状態(電圧印加無し)における分子構造がツイステッドネマチック配向であるように処理される。さらに、配向層は液晶・色素層にわたって電界を印加可能な透明導体を含む。電界印加が無いとき、分子構成はツイステッドネマチック構成である。AC電圧(100Hz、10V)の印加により、配向はTN(ツイステッドネマチック)からホメオトロピックにスイッチングされる。2つの状態についての透過率は以下に列記され、以下の表1に示されている。
この実施例における構成は、図2の調光ガラスと同様の調光ガラスを示す:
− 同じ硬度を有するコレステリックLCポリマー層(上下);
− 分子の長さ方向に沿って吸収軸を有する二色性色素;
− 基板の一方は、面内スイッチングを可能とするために互いにかみ合う(「指」)パターンの2つの電極を有する。他方の基板はホモジニアス導電層を有する(当該システムについて3つの電極)。
Claims (17)
- 少なくとも第1および第2の反射偏光子(1、2)と、液晶・色素層(3)と、を有する調光ガラス(8)であって、
前記液晶・色素層(3)は前記第1および第2の反射偏光子(1、2)の間に設けられ、
前記液晶・色素層(3)の二色性色素(6)および液晶(7)の配向は可変であり、
前記第1および第2の反射偏光子(1、2)はλ1〜λ2の波長範囲の電磁放射について設けられ、
前記調光ガラス(8)を通る電磁放射の透過率が、λ3〜λ4の波長範囲においては色素吸収により制御され、かつ、λ1〜λ2の波長範囲においては前記液晶・色素層(3)の前記液晶(7)および前記二色性色素(6)の配向により制御されるように前記液晶・色素層(3)は選択され、
前記液晶・色素層(3)内の前記液晶(7)および前記二色性色素(6)の全体は、2つ以上のスイッチング状態のいずれにおいても、前記液晶(7)の配向状態と前記二色性色素(6)の配向状態とが互いに同一となっており、
λ1〜λ2の波長範囲は750nm〜2000nmの波長範囲内であり、
λ3〜λ4の波長範囲は380nm〜750nmの波長範囲内である、
ことを特徴とする調光ガラス。 - 前記液晶・色素層(3)の配向により、λ3〜λ4の波長範囲およびλ1〜λ2の波長範囲の透過率が同時に制御される、
請求項1記載の調光ガラス(8)。 - 前記第1および第2の反射偏光子(1、2)はλ1〜λ2の波長範囲の電磁放射を偏光する、
請求項1または2記載の調光ガラス(8)。 - 前記液晶(7)および前記二色性色素(6)の配向により、前記液晶・色素層(3)を通るλ1〜λ2の波長範囲の電磁放射の偏光状態が制御される、
請求項1から3のいずれか1項記載の調光ガラス(8)。 - 前記第1および第2の反射偏光子(1、2)は、直線偏光または円偏光の選択性ブラッグ反射器である、
請求項1から4のいずれか1項記載の調光ガラス(8)。 - 前記反射偏光子は、コレステリック液晶ポリマーである、
請求項1から5のいずれか1項記載の調光ガラス(8)。 - 前記液晶・色素層(3)の前記二色性色素(6)は、蛍光性色素である、
請求項1から6のいずれか1項記載の調光ガラス(8)。 - 前記液晶・色素層(3)の前記液晶(7)および前記二色性色素(6)の配向は、前記調光ガラス(8)への電圧印加によって可変である、
請求項1から7のいずれか1項記載の調光ガラス(8)。 - 前記調光ガラス(8)のλ1〜λ2の波長範囲における透過率は、0%〜50%の範囲内である、
請求項1から8のいずれか1項記載の調光ガラス(8)。 - 前記調光ガラス(8)のλ3〜λ4の波長範囲における透過率は、5%〜80%の範囲内である、
請求項1から9のいずれか1項記載の調光ガラス(8)。 - あるスイッチング状態から別のスイッチング状態にスイッチングした際に、λ1〜λ2の波長範囲およびλ3〜λ4の波長範囲の透過率は、互いに独立に変更可能である、
請求項1から10のいずれか1項記載の調光ガラス(8)。 - 前記調光ガラス(8)は、2つまたは3つの異なるスイッチング状態の間でスイッチング可能であり、前記2つまたは3つの異なるスイッチング状態の各々は、前記液晶・色素層(3)の特定の物理モードにより特徴付けられる、
請求項1から11のいずれか1項記載の調光ガラス(8)。 - 前記調光ガラス(8)は、3つの異なるスイッチング状態の間でスイッチング可能であり、前記3つの異なるスイッチング状態の各々は、前記液晶・色素層(3)の特定の物理モードにより特徴付けられる、
