Claims (9)
- 光ファイバカプラであって、
長軸に沿う光信号の基底モードの伝播を支持する光ファイバの入力部と、
前記入力部の出力に結合された実質的に断熱的な光ファイバの遷移部とを含み、前記実質的に断熱的な光ファイバの遷移部は、前記光ファイバを伝播する前記光信号の基底モードを長軸zから前記実質的に断熱的な遷移部分の軸を離れた外側周辺領域にずらすように拡大または縮小される半径rと、曲率半径Rとを有し、さらに、
ずらされ、軸を離れて伝播する光信号を受ける、前記実質的に断熱的な遷移部に結合された前記光ファイバの出力部を含むことを特徴とする光ファイバカプラ。 - 前記光ファイバの入力部はシングルモード光ファイバ部分からなることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光ファイバカプラ。
- 前記光ファイバの出力部はシングルモード光ファイバ部分からなることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光ファイバカプラ。
- 前記実質的に断熱的な遷移部は、前記入力部の出力から、伝播する基底モードを長軸から前記実質的に断熱的な遷移部の軸を離れた外側周辺領域にずらすために十分な曲率半径Rを有するとともに、出力部の入力への前記基底モードの伝播を保持するよう拡大する半径rの光ファイバ部分からなることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光ファイバカプラ。
- 前記実質的に断熱的な遷移部が、コイルを形成するために曲げられていることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の光ファイバカプラ。
- 前記実質的に断熱的な遷移部のコイルが単調に減少するピッチを示すことを特徴とする請求項5に記載の光ファイバカプラ。
- 前記実質的に断熱的な遷移部のコイルが可変ピッチを示すことを特徴とする請求項5に記載の光ファイバカプラ。
- 前記実質的に断熱的な遷移部が、前記伝播する基底モードを前記入力ファイバ部の長軸からコイル巻きされた断熱的遷移部の軸を離れた外側周辺領域へずらすように前記光信号の基底モードの伝播を保持する半径rのコイル巻きされた光ファイバ部分からなることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光ファイバカプラ。
- 前記コイル巻きされた光ファイバが、拡大する半径rと可変のコイルピッチとを有することを特徴とする請求項8に記載の光ファイバカプラ。
