Description
インクジェットプリンタ内の液体吐出装置は、液滴のドロップ・オン・デマンドの吐出(又は射出)を提供する。一般に、インクジェットプリンタは、用紙などの印刷媒体上へと複数のノズルを通じてインク滴を吐出することによって画像を印刷する。該ノズルは、典型的には、1つか又は複数のアレイ内において構成されており、それにより、プリントヘッドと印刷媒体とが互いに関連して移動すると、ノズルからのインク滴の、適正に順序付けられた(適正シーケンスの)吐出によって、文字か又は他の画像が印刷媒体上に印刷させられることとなる。ある特定例において、熱インクジェットプリントヘッドが、発熱素子を通じて電流を送って熱を発生させて、発射チャンバ内における液体のわずかな部分を気化(又は蒸発)させることによって、ノズルから滴を吐出する。別の例では、圧電インクジェットプリントヘッドが、圧電材料アクチュエータを用いて、インク滴をノズルの外に強制する圧力パルスを生成する。
問題点と解決法の概要
上述のように、インクジェット印刷システムの開発において、様々な課題がいまだに克服されていない。例えば、そのようなシステム内において使用されるインクジェットプリントヘッドは、インク妨害物及び/又は目詰まりによるトラブルをかかえ続けている。インク妨害物及び/又は目詰まりの理由には、ノズルボア領域内に粘性のあるプラグ(又は詰め物、又は塊)及びクラスト(又は堅くなった表面)が生じることが含まれ、それらプラグ及びクラストは、例えば保管(又は格納)か又は未使用の期間中におけるインク乾燥と、インク構成要素の硬化の結果として形成される。他の理由には、プリントヘッド内の顔料インクビヒクル分離(PIVS:pigment-ink vehicle separation)及び気泡が含まれる。
図1は、本開示の一実施形態による、本明細書内において開示したような液体吐出アセンブリを組み込むのに適合可能なインクジェット印刷システム100として具現化された液体吐出装置を示す。この実施形態では、液体吐出アセンブリは、液滴噴射プリントヘッド114として開示されている。インクジェット印刷システム100は、インクジェットプリントヘッドアセンブリ102と、インク供給アセンブリ104と、実装アセンブリ106と、媒体移送アセンブリ108と、電子プリンタコントローラ110と、少なくとも1つの電力供給部112と、を備える。該電力供給部112は、インクジェット印刷システム100における様々な電気的な構成要素に対して電力を提供する。インクジェットプリントヘッドアセンブリ102は、印刷媒体118上へと印刷するために、複数の開口部(オリフィス)か又はノズル116を通じて印刷媒体118に向けてインク滴を吐出する少なくとも1つの液体吐出アセンブリ114(プリントヘッド114)を含む。印刷媒体118は、用紙、カードストック、透明スライド、マイラー、及びこれらに類するもののような、任意のタイプの適合可能なシートか又はロール材料である。典型的には、ノズル116は、1つか又は複数の列か又はアレイ内において構成され、これにより、インクジェットプリントヘッドアセンブリ102と印刷媒体118とが互いに関連して移動させられると、ノズル116からのインクの、適正に順序付けられた吐出によって、文字、記号、及び/又は他のグラフィックスか又は画像が、印刷媒体118上に印刷させられることとなる。
Claims (11)
- 液体吐出アセンブリであって、
液体スロットと、
入口チャンネルの一端において前記液体スロットに接続された入口チャンネルと、出口チャンネルの一端において前記液体スロットに接続された出力チャンネルと、前記入口チャンネルの他端と前記出口チャンネルの他端とを接続する接続チャンネルとから構成される再循環チャンネルと、
前記出口チャンネル内における滴吐出要素を含む滴発生器と、
前記液体スロットから、前記入力チャンネル、前記接続チャンネル、及び前記出力チャンネルを通じて、前記液体スロットへと液体を循環させて戻すための、前記入口チャンネル内におけるポンプ要素であって、前記入口チャンネルに前記滴発生器は存在せず、前記出力チャンネルに当該ポンプ要素は存在しない、ポンプ要素と、
前記滴吐出要素に関連付けられた第1のアドレス指定可能な駆動回路、及び前記ポンプ要素に関連付けられた第2のアドレス指定可能な駆動回路
とを備え、
前記第1及び第2のアドレス指定可能な駆動回路は、前記滴吐出要素及び前記ポンプ要素を駆動することが可能であり、それによって、前記ポンプ要素は、前記滴発生器から吐出されている液滴に対する吐出エネルギーを増加させる、液体吐出アセンブリ。 - 前記第1及び第2のアドレス指定可能な駆動回路は、前記滴吐出要素及び前記ポンプ要素のアクティベーション間におけるプログラムされた時間インターバル内において前記滴吐出要素及び前記ポンプ要素をアクティブにするために、コントローラからの信号を受け取るように構成されている、請求項1に記載の液体吐出アセンブリ。
- 前記ポンプ要素は、前記滴吐出要素をアクティブにする直前に、又は前記滴吐出要素のアクティベーションと同時にアクティブにされる、請求項1又は請求項2に記載の液体吐出アセンブリ。
- 前記ポンプ要素は、前記滴吐出要素のアクティベーションよりも2マイクロ秒以下だけ先にアクティブ化される、請求項3に記載の液体吐出アセンブリ。
- 複数の再循環チャンネルを備え、各再循環チャンネルの出力チャンネルが、滴吐出要素を含み、及び、各滴吐出要素が、個々にアドレス指定可能な駆動回路を有する、請求項1〜4の何れか一項に記載の液体吐出アセンブリ。
- 前記滴吐出要素、及び前記ポンプ要素は、熱抵抗器、及び圧電アクチュエータから成るグループから選択される、請求項1〜5の何れか一項に記載の液体吐出アセンブリ。
- 液体吐出装置であって、
滴吐出要素を含む滴発生器と、再循環チャンネル内において液体を循環させるためのポンプ要素とを有する液体吐出アセンブリであって、前記再循環チャンネルが、入口チャンネルの一端において液体スロットに接続された入口チャンネルと、出口チャンネルの一端において前記液体スロットに接続された出力チャンネルと、前記入口チャンネルの他端と前記出口チャンネルの他端とを接続する接続チャンネルとから構成され、前記入口チャンネルは、前記ポンプ要素を含むが、前記滴発生器を含まず、前記出力チャンネルは、前記滴発生器を含むが、前記ポンプ要素を含まないように構成される、液体吐出アセンブリと、
電子コントローラと、
