Description
The present invention relates to a liquid ejection device provided in an inkjet printer.
There is an ink jet printer as a recording apparatus capable of printing on various recording media such as plain paper and plastic thin plate. The ink jet printer includes a recording head that ejects ink from nozzle holes. By ejecting ink as fine droplets from the nozzle holes of the recording head toward the recording medium, printing is performed on the recording medium.
The ink jet printer includes an ink ejection device that ejects stored ink onto a recording medium. The ink ejection device includes an ink tank, and the ink stored in the ink tank is supplied to the recording head by a pump.
The recording head is provided with an ink supply channel from the ink tank to the recording head and a return channel from the recording head to the ink tank, each of which is constituted by a pipe material. The ink in the ink tank circulates through each flow path by driving the pump (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
Also disclosed is a configuration in which the ink can be circulated by sending ink from the main tank to the common liquid chamber of the print head via the sub-tank by forward rotation of the pump, and the print head can be recovered by reversing the pump. (For example, see Patent Document 2).
Thus, the reason why the ink is circulated on the ink flow path is to prevent the ejection failure of the ink due to the ejection of the air bubbles from the nozzles when the air bubbles are contained in the recording head.
However, in the inventions described in
SUMMARY An advantage of some aspects of the invention is to provide a liquid ejecting apparatus that can reduce the ink flow path as much as possible and can be downsized.

Invention of Claim 6 is the liquid discharge apparatus as described in any one of Claims 1-5,
It is characterized by comprising a flow rate control means for adjusting the flow rate of ink by the pump so that the pressure applied to the ink in the ink discharge portion of the recording head is a pressure at which no meniscus break occurs.
Here, the meniscus break means that the force applied to the ink that is about to be ejected from the ink ejection part becomes larger than the surface tension of the ink and leaks from the ink ejection part.
The force applied to the ink is determined by the water head difference between the sub tank and the ink chamber and the flow rate of ink flowing through the ink chamber.
The invention according to
The length of the first ink channel is longer than the length of the third ink channel.
According to the first aspect of the present invention, when the air in the ink chamber of the recording head is evacuated, when the ink is sent to the sub tank, the first valve is closed and the second valve is opened. The ink sucked out of the tank is sent from the third ink channel to the sub tank through the second ink channel. At this time, the air contained in the ink is driven upward in the sub tank. Further, since the ink flowing into the ink chamber from the third ink flow path passes through the ink chamber of the recording head and flows into the second ink flow path, the air in the ink chamber is also sent to the sub tank together with the ink. Driven upward.
On the other hand, when performing normal printing, if the pump is driven with the first valve opened and the second valve closed, the ink flows into the sub tank through the first ink flow path.
Thus, by simply switching the opening and closing of the first valve and the second valve, it is possible to vent the ink chamber and ink flow path of the recording head and supply ink to the sub tank by ink circulation.
Therefore, it is not necessary to provide two ink supply channels and return channels in order to circulate the ink, and the ink channels can be reduced as much as possible to achieve miniaturization. Further, it is not necessary to provide two ink supply pumps and ink return pumps, and the problems of arrangement and enlargement can be solved.
According to the second aspect of the present invention, since the first valve and the second valve can be substituted by one three-way valve, the number of parts can be reduced.
According to the invention described in
According to the fourth aspect of the present invention, even if the atmospheric pressure in the sub tank changes, the change can be absorbed by the air chamber, so that it is not necessary to control the atmospheric pressure by supplying ink with a pump.
As a result, the pump only needs to control the amount of ink supplied to the sub tank, so that the ink supply and the control of the atmospheric pressure in the sub tank can be performed independently. Also, another ink sub-tank can be connected to the air chamber.
According to the fifth aspect of the present invention, when the air in the ink chamber is extracted by driving the pump, the valve control means closes the first valve including the electromagnetic valve and opens the second valve. The ink flow path required when removing the air can be automatically configured.
According to the sixth aspect of the present invention, it is possible to prevent ink leakage from the nozzle holes of the recording head by causing the ink to flow at a flow rate adjusted so as not to cause a meniscus break by the flow rate control means.
Thereby, the cleaning process of the recording head when the air in the ink chamber is removed can be omitted, and the number of work steps can be reduced.

Next, as shown in Step B of FIG. 7, the
After the operation in Step A of FIG. 7, when it is desired to sufficiently remove the air in the

<Effect>
As described above, according to the
On the other hand, when performing normal printing, when the
As a result, by simply switching the opening and closing of the
Therefore, it is not necessary to provide two ink supply channels and return channels in order to circulate the ink, and the ink channels can be reduced as much as possible to achieve miniaturization. Further, it is not necessary to provide two ink supply pumps and ink return pumps, and the problems of arrangement and enlargement can be solved.

[Second Embodiment]
Next, a second embodiment of the liquid ejection apparatus will be described. Since the second embodiment of the liquid ejection device is different from the first embodiment in that an air chamber is provided, this point will be described in the second embodiment, and the difference from the first embodiment will be described. Common points are denoted by the same reference numerals and description thereof is omitted.
As shown in FIG. 8, in the
