なお、「脱水」とはコーティング層から水分が除去されることをいう。
特定の実施態様では、ホウ素源(例えばホウ酸塩)は、アルデヒド架橋剤(例えばグリオキサール)の水性溶液に加えられる。次に、中和剤(例えば水酸化ナトリウム)が4以上の溶液のpHを維持するように溶液に加えられる。それは、溶液の中へのホウ素源(例えばホウ酸塩)の溶解を促進する。その後、ブロッキング薬(例えばソルビトール)は架橋剤組成物を形成するために加えることができる。他の実施態様では、成分の追加順序は変更することができる。さらなる他の実施態様では、様々な成分の追加は分割することができる。例えば、アルデヒド架橋剤の一部はボラートと一緒に加え、ブロッキング薬が導入された後、アルデヒド架橋剤の残りを加えることができる。

実施例
試験の原理は、制御された条件下で、予め決定された時間、連続的に濡れた紙サンプルに摩擦挙動を加え、こすれ落ちた物質を評価することに基づく。2つの検出方法が使用された;1つは、20秒で除去されたコーティングを測定し、定量可能な吸光度値を得る測定である。比色分析のより小さい吸光度値は、コーティングされた紙からのより少ない除去量に対応し、したがってよりよい架橋に相当する。別の方法は同じテスト手順を使用するが、結果は摩擦された物質の透過%値によって決定される。より高い透過%はより効率的な架橋に相当する。
Claims (8)
- セルロース基体に以下の工程を含む方法によって調製される表面処理組成物を適用することを含む、表面処理されたセルロース基体を調製する方法:
(a) (i)ボラートイオンを提供する物質、(ii)ジ−アルデヒド架橋剤および(iii)ブロッキング薬を導入し、架橋剤組成物を形成すること;
(b) 澱粉および顔料を架橋剤溶液に導入し、組成物を形成し、組成物のpHを少なく とも8.5とすること。 - 該表面処理組成物が2500cps未満の粘度を有することにより特徴付けられ、該表面処理組成物が30から80%の固形分を有することによって特徴づけられ、該澱粉が変性澱粉および天然澱粉からなる群から選択されるかまたは該澱粉が、ヒドロキシルエチル化 澱粉、過酸化物により酸処理された澱粉、カチオン化された澱粉からなる群から選択され、ジアルデヒドはグリオキサールを含む、請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記の適用工程が、セルロース基体の少なくとも1つの表面にコーティングを形成し、コーティングの湿潤厚さは1から30ミクロンである、請求項1または2記載の方法。
- ボラートイオンを提供する物質はボラートを含む、請求項1から3のいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 表面処理組成物が炭酸カルシウム顔料を含むことによって特徴づけられ、および前記のホウ素源およびジアルデヒドを導入する工程が水性のボラート溶液および水性のグリオキサール溶液を導入することを含み、前記ブロッキング薬がジ−アルデヒドに化学的に結合する化合物を含み、および脱水の閾値を超えるとジ−アルデヒドが反応して澱粉を架橋することを許容するか、または
該ブロッキング薬がペンタエリトリトール、グリセリン、ラノリン、多数の水酸基を有する単糖類またはオリゴ糖またはそれらの混合物を含み、または該ブロッキング薬はソルビトールを含み、または該ブロッキング薬はペンタエリトリトールを含む、請求項1から4のいずれか1項記載の方法。 - (c) 澱粉および顔料を架橋剤溶液に導入した後に、追加のジ−アルデヒドを導入し、 組成物を形成する工程をさらに含む、請求項1記載の方法。
- 澱粉、ボラートイオンを提供する物質、ジ−アルデヒドおよびブロッキング薬の混合物を含み、pHが少なくとも8.5である表面処理組成物。
- セルロース基体に表面処理組成物を適用することにより調製された処理されたセルロース基体であって、該表面処理組成物は澱粉、ボラートイオンを提供する物質、ジ−アルデヒドとブロッキング薬との混合物、および澱粉の混合物であり、少なくとも8.5のpHを有する、セルロース基体。
