Description
− 複数の第1の連続フィラメントヤーンを含み、前記第1のヤーンが第1の方向で実質的に平行である、第1層と;
− 前記第1層に隣接しこれと接触し、かつ複数の第2の連続フィラメントヤーンを含み、前記第2のヤーンが第1の方向に対して傾斜している第2の方向で実質的に平行である、第2層と;
を含み、
第1および第2のヤーンが、1dtexあたり少なくとも25グラムの強度および3.6〜4.5パーセントの破断点伸びを有するパラ−アラミドヤーンを含む、サブアセンブリに関する。
以下の実施例では、以下の試験方法が使用された。
本実施例では、一方向(UD)層を、1dtexあたり31グラム−力の強度および3.80%の破断点伸びという公称機械的特性を有するパラ−アラミドで製造した。各層の85重量%は、パラ−アラミド連続フィラメントヤーンで構成され、15重量%はヤーン表面を横断して均等に展延されたポリプロピレン結合材であった。各UD層の坪量は平均181g/m2であった。第1層内の一方向ヤーンが第2層内の一方向ヤーンに対し90度で配向されるような形で2つの層を集合させることによって、サブアセンブリを形成した。サブアセンブリの公称坪量は362g/m2であった。各UD層内のヤーンの方向性がいずれの側のUD層内のヤーンの方向性に対しても90度の方向性を有するような形で27のサブアセンブリを最終的物品アセンブリの形に合わせて積重ねた。アセンブリの合計面密度は9.8kg/m2であった。その後、最終的物品アセンブリを、メーカーの推奨事項にしたがって、177℃のプラテン温度そして34気圧で加熱プレス内において成形し、その結果、9.8kg/m2の面密度を保持する硬化した硬質防護具パネルを得た。硬化した硬質防護具パネルを水ジェットを用いて46cm×46cmの正方形に切断した。その後、切断した正方形を、各コーナーでしゃこ万力を用いて剛性鋼フレームに取付け、5.56mmおよび7.62mmのFSPに対し試験した。得られたV50結果は、表1に示されている。
実施例1に対する比較として、Gold Shield(登録商標)GV−2112という商標名で入手可能なパラ−アラミドヤーンで製造されたクロスプライの一方向材料を、Honeywell Specialty Materials、Morristown、NJから入手した。この材料は、それぞれの層中のヤーンの方向性が0°/90°/0°/90°である4つの固着されたエラストマー樹脂コーティングのUD層として供給され、これは本明細書中で定義されている2つのサブアセンブリを組合せたものと等価である。この4層構造の合計面密度は222g/m2であり、個別のUD層の面密度は55.5g/m2であった。UD層は、1dtexあたり30グラム−力および3.45%の破断点伸びという公称機械的特性を有するTeijin Twaron USA Inc.、Conyers、GAから入手可能な2000グレードのパラ−アラミドヤーンを含んでいた。実施例1にあるように、各UD層内のヤーンの方向性がいずれの側のUD層内のヤーン方向性に対しても90度の方向性を有するような形に44枚の供給されたままの状態の「4層UDクロスプライアセンブリ」(または本明細書で定義されている88枚の2層サブアセンブリ)を共に積重ねて、9.8kg/m2の面密度を有する最終的物品アセンブリを製造した。その後、最終的物品アセンブリを、メーカーの推奨事項の通りに(115℃の最低温度と3.4MN/m2の圧力)加熱プレス内で成形し、結果として得た硬化した硬質防護具パネルは、公称9.8kg/m2の面密度を保持していた。実施例1にあるように、成形したパネルを水ジェットで46cm×46cmの正方形に切断し、これらを次に各コーナーでしゃこ万力を用いて剛性鋼フレームに取付け、5.56mmおよび7.62mmのFSPに対し試験した。得られたV50結果は、表1に示されている。
最終的物品アセンブリが38枚のサブアセンブリと14.7kg/m2の面密度を有していたという点を除いて実施例1を反復した。弾道試験も同様に実施例1の通りであり、結果は表1に示されている。
実施例2に対する比較として、本明細書中で定義されている通りの132枚の2層サブアセンブリと等価である66枚の供給されたままの状態の「4層UDクロスプライアセンブリ」から、14.7kg/m2の面密度を有する最終物品アセンブリを組立てたという点を除いて、実施例Aを反復した。弾道試験もまた実施例Aの通りであり、結果は表1に示されている。
次に、本発明の態様を示す。
1. 弾道防護具物品中で有用であるサブアセンブリであって、
− 複数の第1の連続フィラメントヤーンを含み、前記第1のヤーンが第1の方向で実質的に平行である、第1層と;
− 前記第1層に隣接しこれと接触し、かつ複数の第2の連続フィラメントヤーンを含み、前記第2のヤーンが前記第1の方向に対して傾斜している第2の方向で実質的に平行である、第2層と;
を含み、
前記第1および第2のヤーンが、1dtexあたり少なくとも25グラムの強度および3.6〜4.5パーセントの破断点伸びを有するパラ−アラミドヤーンを含む、サブアセンブリ。
2. 前記第1または第2の層の厚み対前記第1または第2のヤーンの個々の連続フィラメントの相当直径の比が少なくとも13である、上記1に記載のサブアセンブリ。
3. 前記第1および第2の層を合わせて付着させる少なくとも1つの追加の第3のヤーンをさらに含む、上記1に記載のサブアセンブリ。
4. 前記第3のヤーンが、ポリエステル繊維、ポリエチレン繊維、ポリアミド繊維、アラミド繊維、ポリアレンアゾール繊維、ポリピリドアゾール繊維、ポリベンズアゾール繊維およびそれらの混合物からなる群から選択された繊維を含む、上記3に記載のサブアセンブリ。
5. 前記第2の層中の前記第2ヤーンが前記第1層内の前記第1ヤーンに対して直交して配向されている、上記1に記載のサブアセンブリ。
6. 前記複数の第1および第2のヤーンが、別個のヤーン束として前記第1および第2の層内に存在しており、前記別個のヤーン束が、これらのヤーン束を外部表面上でコーティングするポリマー樹脂をさらに有している、上記1に記載のサブアセンブリ。
7. 前記第1および第2の層中の前記複数の第1および第2のヤーンの少なくとも一部分にポリマー樹脂が含浸されている、上記1に記載のサブアセンブリ。
8. 上記1に記載の複数の前記サブアセンブリを含む弾道防護具物品。
Claims (2)
- 弾道防護具物品中で有用であるサブアセンブリであって、
− 複数の第1の連続フィラメントヤーンを含み、前記第1のヤーンが第1の方向で実質的に平行である、第1層と;
− 前記第1層に隣接しこれと接触し、かつ複数の第2の連続フィラメントヤーンを含み、前記第2のヤーンが前記第1の方向に対して傾斜している第2の方向で実質的に平行である、第2層と;
を含み、
前記第1および第2のヤーンが、1dtexあたり少なくとも25グラムの強度および3.6〜4.5パーセントの破断点伸びを有するパラ−アラミドヤーンを含み、
前記第1または第2の層の厚み対前記第1または第2のヤーンの個々の連続フィラメントの相当直径の比が少なくとも13である、サブアセンブリ。 - 請求項1に記載の複数の前記サブアセンブリを含む弾道防護具物品。
