Description
Claims (7)
- 映像信号を表示する表示パネルと、該表示パネルを照明する光源としてLEDを用いたバックライトと、該LEDの発光輝度を制御する制御部とを備え、該制御部は、前記バックライトを複数の領域に分割し、該分割した各領域に対応する映像信号に応じて、前記分割した各領域に対応するLEDの発光輝度を制御する映像表示装置であって、
前記表示パネルに主画面と1つ以上の副画面とを表示する場合に、前記制御部は、前記主画面の表示領域に対応するLEDの発光輝度に対して、該LEDの駆動電流の合計値が所定の許容電流値以下となる範囲で、前記主画面のバックライトの点灯率または前記主画面の映像信号の特徴量に応じて求めた輝度増加率を乗算する第1の輝度制御を行うと共に、該第1の輝度制御とは独立に、少なくとも前記主画面との境界領域以外の前記副画面の表示領域に対応するLEDの発光輝度を一定に制御する第2の輝度制御を行い、
前記境界領域は、前記主画面と前記副画面との境界線が前記バックライトのLED間に位置する場合、前記副画面の表示領域に含まれ、また、前記主画面と前記副画面との境界線が前記バックライトのLED上に位置する場合、前記主画面の表示領域と前記副画面の表示領域の両方に含まれることを特徴とする映像表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の映像表示装置において、前記主画面と前記副画面との境界線が前記バックライトのLED間に位置する場合、前記第2の輝度制御は、前記境界領域に対応するLEDの発光輝度と、該境界領域以外の前記副画面の表示領域に対応するLEDの発光輝度とを同じ固定値に制御するものであることを特徴とする映像表示装置。
- 請求項1に記載の映像表示装置において、前記主画面と前記副画面との境界線が前記バックライトのLED間に位置する場合、前記第2の輝度制御は、前記境界領域に対応するLEDの発光輝度と、該境界領域以外の前記副画面の表示領域に対応するLEDの発光輝度とを異なる固定値に制御するものであることを特徴とする映像表示装置。
- 請求項1に記載の映像表示装置において、前記主画面と前記副画面との境界線が前記バックライトのLED上に位置する場合、前記第2の輝度制御は、前記境界領域に対応するLEDの発光輝度と、該境界領域以外の前記副画面の表示領域に対応するLEDの発光輝度とを異なる固定値に制御するものであることを特徴とする映像表示装置。
- 請求項3または4に記載の映像表示装置において、前記制御部は、前記主画面に表示される映像信号の特徴量に基づいて、前記境界領域に対応するLEDの発光輝度の固定値を決定することを特徴とする映像表示装置。
- 請求項5に記載の映像表示装置において、前記主画面に表示される映像信号の特徴量が第1の所定値以上の場合、前記境界領域に対応するLEDの発光輝度を、該境界領域以外の前記副画面の表示領域に対応するLEDの発光輝度よりも大きくし、また、前記主画面に表示される映像信号の特徴量が第2の所定値以下の場合、前記境界領域に対応するLEDの発光輝度を、該境界領域以外の前記副画面の表示領域に対応するLEDの発光輝度よりも小さくすることを特徴とする映像表示装置。
- 請求項1に記載の映像表示装置において、前記主画面と前記副画面との境界線が前記バックライトのLED上に位置する場合、前記制御部は、前記境界領域に対応するLEDの発光輝度を、前記第1の輝度制御により制御すると共に、前記境界領域に含まれる前記副画面の映像信号を補正し、さらに、前記境界領域以外の前記副画面の表示領域に対応するLEDの発光輝度を、前記第2の輝度制御により一定に制御することを特徴とする映像表示装置。
