Description
The present invention relates to a liquid coating method and a liquid coating apparatus for locally forming a coating film by selecting a predetermined portion of a coating object and discharging droplets from a predetermined nozzle of an inkjet.
The ink jet technology has excellent features such as non-contact, fine droplet discharge, and high on-demand characteristics. Due to this feature, inkjet technology is attracting attention as a major technology in the field of digital fabrication manufacturing. For example, as described in Patent Document 1, inkjet technology has already been introduced in the formation of color filters or the formation of functional thin films such as alignment films and resists in liquid crystal devices.
The ink jet technique is also widely used as a technique for correcting a film formation defect due to dust adhesion or the like. As an example, for example, wiring repair on an electronic substrate as described in
The solvent component of the droplets starts to evaporate after landing on the coating surface. For this reason, the film thickness of the coating film formed on the coating object depends on the wettability of the substrate surface, but the solvent concentration in the vapor atmosphere of the ink solvent in the vicinity of the coating object (hereinafter referred to as the ink solvent atmosphere). Susceptible to.
When the solvent concentration in the ink solvent atmosphere is high, the solvent evaporation rate is suppressed, which is effective for leveling the coating film thickness. However, when the wettability of the coating surface is poor, the solvent evaporation rate decreases. Convection in the landing ink causes aggregation of solute components and uneven coating film thickness. On the other hand, when the solvent concentration in the ink solvent atmosphere is low, the solvent evaporation rate increases. Therefore, when applying a plurality of liquid droplets at a peripheral portion where the drying rate is high, or at the boundary portion with the previously applied region. Unevenness occurs in the coating film thickness.
From the above, in order to form a coating film having a uniform film thickness property on the surface to be coated, the wettability of the coating surface is improved, the spreading of the landing droplets is made uniform, and the atmosphere with a high solvent concentration is used. It is necessary to adjust the solvent evaporation rate after droplet formation and landing.
As a liquid application method in consideration of improvement of wettability for uniformizing the coating film thickness and adjustment of the solvent evaporation rate, for example, a method described in Patent Document 3 can be mentioned. In the method described in Patent Document 3, a solvent vapor atmosphere is formed by applying only the solvent toward the application surface of the application object, and then the functional material solution of the same solvent is discharged to apply the solution. This is a method of suppressing the solvent evaporation rate of droplets (hereinafter referred to as method 1).
Moreover, as another method different from the method 1, the method described in
However, the above-described
(Method 1)
In order to form the solvent atmosphere, it is necessary to actually apply the solvent to the application surface of the application object. For this reason, there is a possibility of causing contamination depending on the type and application of the application object and the characteristics of the solvent used. In addition, when the solvent component is not sufficiently dried when forming the ink solvent atmosphere, the solvent and the droplets of the functional material solution coalesce on the coating surface, and the solute concentration decreases, thereby reducing the coating film function. There is a risk of lowering. Furthermore, since the liquid discharge process such as solvent coating and material solution coating and the accompanying drying process of the coating liquid are repeated a plurality of times, there is a problem that the processing time as the coating film forming process is long and the ink consumption is large.
(Method 2)
Since the ink solvent vapor formed by heating the humectant is exposed to the application surface, it is difficult to control the range of the region to which the solvent vapor is exposed. For this reason, when the liquid application is locally performed using the
In Method 1, a solvent is applied to the application surface of the application object for the purpose of forming a solvent atmosphere. In
The present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned problems, and the purpose thereof is to uniformize the wettability of the surface of the coating object even if the coating film is formed on a local location of the coating object. An object of the present invention is to provide a liquid coating method and a liquid coating apparatus capable of forming a coating film having uniform film properties by forming an ink solvent atmosphere having a high solvent concentration in the vicinity thereof.
In order to solve the above problems, the liquid application method of the present invention selects an application location on an application object, and applies a liquid containing a functional material locally to the application location by an inkjet method. The method is characterized in that an ink jet head is disposed immediately above the application location, the relative distance between the ink jet head and the application location is maintained for a predetermined time, and then the liquid is ejected.
According to said structure, an ink solvent atmosphere is formed by arrange | positioning an inkjet head just above the said application location, and hold | maintaining the relative distance of the said inkjet head and the said application location for a predetermined time. Therefore, according to the above configuration, the solvent vapor generated from the ejection holes of the inkjet head is adsorbed on the surface of the application object while being held for a predetermined time, and the surface of the application portion is modified, The wettability of the surface of the application part with respect to the said liquid improves. Therefore, after the relative distance between the ink jet head and the application location is held for a predetermined time, the liquid is discharged, whereby the wet spread of the liquid at the application location can be made uniform. In addition, since the solvent atmosphere generated from the ejection holes of the inkjet head is used to form an ink solvent atmosphere, even if the application location on the application target is a local micro area, only that micro area is targeted. It is possible to perform surface modification.
According to the above configuration, in the step of forming the ink solvent atmosphere, the inkjet head is disposed immediately above the application location, and the relative distance between the inkjet head and the application location is maintained for a predetermined time. Since this is a simple process, it is possible to realize a uniform coating film more easily. In addition, since the solvent concentration in the ink solvent atmosphere depends on the time for maintaining the relative distance between the inkjet head and the application location, the surface modification in the vicinity of the application location can be easily performed by changing the relative distance retention time. The quality state and the solvent concentration in the ink solvent atmosphere can be adjusted, and an ink solvent atmosphere having a high solvent concentration can be formed in the vicinity of the application site.
In addition, since the ink solvent atmosphere is formed simply by placing the inkjet head directly above the application location and holding the relative distance between the inkjet head and the application location for a predetermined time, as in the prior art No additional ink solvent is consumed to form the ink solvent atmosphere.
As described above, according to the above configuration, even when forming a coating film on a local portion of the coating target, the wettability of the surface of the coating target is made uniform, and an ink solvent having a high solvent concentration is provided in the vicinity thereof. By forming the atmosphere, a liquid coating method capable of forming a coating film having uniform film properties can be realized. In addition, according to the above configuration, it is possible to form a film that does not cause deterioration of film characteristics and to minimize contamination.
In addition, the following structure may be sufficient as said liquid application method.
That is, a solvent atmosphere forming step of forming a solvent atmosphere made of solvent vapor generated from the ejection holes of the inkjet head while waiting for a predetermined time while maintaining a relative distance between the inkjet head and the application location at a constant distance And a liquid discharge step of discharging liquid after the solvent atmosphere forming step.
According to the above configuration, in the solvent atmosphere forming step, the solvent generated from the ejection holes of the ink jet head is kept waiting for a predetermined time while the relative distance between the ink jet head and the application location is kept constant. Since a solvent atmosphere made of vapor is formed, even if the application location on the application object is a local micro area, it is possible to perform surface modification only on the micro area.
In the liquid application method of the present invention, it is preferable that the relative distance between the inkjet head and the application location is set to 0.5 mm or less.
According to said structure, since the relative distance of the said inkjet head and the said application | coating location is set to 0.5 mm or less, the solvent vapor | steam which generate | occur | produces from the discharge hole of an inkjet head is made to adsorb | suck to the surface of a coating target effectively. It is possible to make the liquid wetting and spreading at the application site more uniform.
In the liquid application method of the present invention, it is preferable that the predetermined time for maintaining a relative distance between the inkjet head and the application location is set to 5 seconds or more.
According to said structure, since the said predetermined time holding the relative distance of the said inkjet head and the said application location is set to 5 seconds or more, it is sufficient solvent to suppress the drying of the liquid in the application location vicinity. An ink solvent atmosphere having a concentration can be formed. Therefore, according to the above configuration, when the coating film is repeatedly produced, the film property for each coating film can be made uniform.
In order to solve the above-described problems, a liquid application apparatus according to the present invention includes an inkjet head that discharges a liquid containing a functional material to an application location on an application target, and an inkjet head that covers the entire area of the application target. A movement mechanism for moving the inkjet head, a relative distance adjustment mechanism for adjusting a relative distance between the inkjet head and the application location, and a timer for controlling a holding time for holding the relative distance. Control means for performing ejection of the liquid by the head is provided.
According to said structure, a relative distance adjustment mechanism adjusts the relative distance of the said inkjet head and the said application | coating location, and a control means has a timer which controls the holding time which hold | maintains the said relative distance, The said holding time passage Later, the liquid is ejected by the ink jet head. Therefore, even when a coating film is formed on a local location of the coating object, the wettability of the surface of the coating object is made uniform, and an ink solvent atmosphere with a high solvent concentration is formed in the vicinity thereof, thereby achieving a uniform A liquid coating apparatus capable of forming a coating film having film properties can be realized. Further, since the configuration of the apparatus is simple, an ink solvent atmosphere can be easily formed.
In the liquid coating apparatus according to the aspect of the invention, it is preferable that the control unit starts counting by the timer and discharges the liquid by the inkjet head simultaneously with the end of the counting.
According to the above configuration, the control unit starts counting by the timer, and discharges the liquid by the inkjet head simultaneously with the end of the counting, so that the time for maintaining the relative distance is accurately controlled. be able to. Therefore, it is possible to easily adjust the solvent concentration in the ink solvent atmosphere. Further, when the coating film is repeatedly produced, it is possible to reduce the film property fluctuation error caused by the difference in the solvent concentration in the ink solvent atmosphere every time the coating film is produced.
As described above, the liquid application method of the present invention is a liquid application method in which an application location in an application object is selected and a liquid containing a functional material is locally applied to the application location by an inkjet method. The inkjet head is disposed immediately above the application location, and the liquid is ejected after the relative distance between the inkjet head and the application location is maintained for a predetermined time.
In addition, as described above, the liquid coating apparatus according to the present invention moves the inkjet head over the entire area of the coating target and the inkjet head that discharges the liquid containing the functional material to the coating location on the coating target. A movement mechanism that adjusts the relative distance between the inkjet head and the application location, and a timer that controls a holding time for holding the relative distance. It is the structure provided with the control means which performs the discharge of the said liquid.
Therefore, even when a coating film is formed on a local location of the coating object, the wettability of the surface of the coating object is made uniform, and an ink solvent atmosphere with a high solvent concentration is formed in the vicinity thereof, thereby achieving a uniform There is an effect that a coating film having film properties can be formed.
The embodiment of the present invention will be described as follows. FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing a schematic configuration of a liquid coating apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention.
The
There are various types of ink jet heads 20 depending on the ink ejection method, and examples thereof include a piezo conversion method and a heat conversion method. As the
The
The
The
The

The

Next, a liquid application method using the
First, as shown in FIG. 2A, the
Next, as shown in FIG. 2B, the
The
Next, as shown in FIG. 2C, the
After the set time t has elapsed in the GAP state, the
After the droplet of
After the
In the liquid application method shown in FIGS. 2A to 2E, the
In this manner, prior to discharging the
As a result, the application surface (liquid application location) of the
Further, according to the liquid application method of the present embodiment, the ink solvent atmosphere is formed by using the vapor of the ink solvent generated from the ejection holes of the
Also, the step for forming the ink solvent atmosphere is to place the
Further, since the solvent concentration in the ink solvent atmosphere depends on the time t for holding the relative distance d between the
In a liquid coating method for forming an ink solvent atmosphere as in the prior art, when a plurality of coating films are locally formed on the same substrate 30 (application target), the ink ejection order and ink ejection locations by the
Further, when a coating film is locally formed on a plurality of substrates 30 (application objects) of different types, a difference in wettability and surface characteristics occurs between the
Further, since the ink solvent atmosphere is formed simply by disposing the
Next, the setting of the relative distance d (GAP) between the
From the graph shown in FIG. 3, when the relative distance d (GAP) is set to a value larger than 0.5 mm, the coating film thickness changes almost even when the time t (standby time t) for maintaining the GAP state is increased. I understand that I don't. On the other hand, when the relative distance d (GAP) is set to a value of 0.5 mm or less, it can be seen that the coating film thickness decreases as the time t (standby time t) for maintaining the GAP state increases.
4 shows the time t (standby time t) for holding each GAP state and the
From the graph shown in FIG. 4, when ink discharge is performed without waiting time t = 0, that is, the
In the graph shown in FIG. 4, when the relative distance d (GAP) is set to a value larger than 0.5 mm, the wetting spread hardly changes even if the time t (waiting time t) for maintaining the GAP state is increased. I understand that. On the other hand, when the relative distance d (GAP) is set to a value of 0.5 mm or less, the wetting spread increases as the time t (waiting time t) for maintaining the GAP state increases, and the waiting time t = 5 seconds or more. It turns out that it becomes a fixed value (300 micrometers).
The results of the graphs shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 indicate that the volume of the space between the
However, the GAP setting condition is merely an example of the configuration requirements in the liquid application method of the present embodiment, and is not limited to this. That is, GAP varies depending on the vapor pressure of the solvent used in the
Next, a method for setting time t (standby time t) for holding the GAP state until
From the graph shown in FIG. 5, it can be seen that the thickness of the coating film of the
When the waiting time t is in the range of 0 to 5 seconds, the solvent vapor generated from the ejection holes of the
As described above, by using the liquid coating method of this embodiment, an ink solvent atmosphere can be easily formed, and a coating film having a flat and uniform film thickness can be formed.
The present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments, and various modifications are possible within the scope shown in the claims, and embodiments obtained by appropriately combining technical means disclosed in different embodiments. Is also included in the technical scope of the present invention.
The present invention makes uniform the wettability of the surface of the object to be coated even when forming a coating film on a local portion of the object to be coated, and forms an ink solvent atmosphere having a high solvent concentration in the vicinity thereof, thereby forming a uniform film.
