Description
を有するメチレン架橋化多環フェノール性酸化防止剤の種類である。当業者には周知であるように、個々の分子の“n”は整数となるが、酸化防止剤組成物に関する“n”は組成物全体として平均値を表す分数となり得る。これらの酸化防止剤は、2,6-ジ-tert-ブチルフェノールおよびオルソ-tert-ブチルフェノールの混合物をホルムアルデヒド源(例えば水性ホルムアルデヒドまたはパラホルムアルデヒド)と、反応溶媒中で、そしてアルキル化触媒の存在下で反応させることにより調製される。このような多数の材料が市販され、そして商標名HiTEC(商標)4702酸化防止剤、HiTEC(商標)4727酸化防止剤、HiTEC(商標)4728酸化防止剤、HiTEC(商標)4738酸化防止剤およびHiTEC(商標)4782酸化防止剤として、すべてバージニア州、リッチモンドのエチルコーポレーション(Ethyl Corporation)から販売されている。これら酸化防止剤の調製物中の混入物には、以下に示す単環フェノール化合物:
少量の2,6-ジ-tert-ブチルフェノール(DTBP)およびオルソ-tert-ブチルフェノール(OTBP)、および痕跡量の2,4,6-トリ-tert-ブチルフェノール(TTBP)を含有するヒンダード フェノール性酸化防止剤組成物は、超高純度DTBP、超高純度OTBPおよびホルムアルデヒド源の特定の混合物を、触媒の存在下で溶媒中で反応させることにより得られる。
を含んで成り;そして組成物が非希釈基準で、各々3.0重量%未満のオルソ-tert-ブチルフェノールおよび2,6-ジ-tert-ブチルフェノールを含み;そして組成物が非希釈基準で、50ppm未満の2,4,6-トリ-tert-ブチルフェノールを含む、
上記組成物。
i)OTBPおよびDTBP出発材料がそれぞれ、0〜10ppmのトリ-tert-ブチルフェノール(TTBP)を含み;
ii)出発混合物中の総フェノールに対するOTBPの比(OTBP/(OTBP+DTBP))が、0.25〜0.35の範囲であり;そして
iii)総フェノールに対する反応溶媒の比(反応溶媒/(OTBP+DTBP))が、0.45以上である、
上記調製法。
i)OTBPおよびDTBP出発材料がそれぞれ、0〜10ppmのトリ-tert-ブチルフェノール(TTBP)を含み;
ii)出発混合物中の総フェノールに対するOTBPの比(OTBP/(OTBP+DTBP))が、0.25〜0.35の範囲であり;そして
iii)総フェノールに対する反応溶媒の比(反応溶媒/(OTBP+DTBP))が、0.45以上である、
上記ヒンダード フェノール性酸化防止剤。
Claims (3)
- 以下のヒンダード フェノール性酸化防止剤組成物の調整方法であって、該組成物が混合物を含んでなり、該混合物が、以下の式

[式中、nは少なくとも0、1、2、および3であり、場合により3より多い]
の複数の化合物を含んで成り;そして該組成物が非希釈基準で、
(a)3.0重量%未満のオルソ-tert-ブチルフェノール、
(b)3.0重量%未満の2,6-ジ-tert-ブチルフェノール、および
(c)50ppm未満の2,4,6-トリ-tert-ブチルフェノールを含み、
該調整方法が、オルソ-tert-ブチルフェノール(OTBP)、2,6-ジ-tert-ブチルフェノール(DTBP)およびホルムアルデヒド供給源を、触媒存在下での反応溶媒中で反応させることを含んで成り、ここで、
i)OTBPおよびDTBP出発材料がそれぞれ、0〜10ppmのトリ-tert-ブチルフェノール(TTBP)を含み;
ii)出発混合物中の総フェノールに対するOTBPの比(OTBP/(OTBP+DTBP))が、0.25〜0.35の範囲であり;そして
iii)総フェノールに対する反応溶媒の比(反応溶媒/(OTBP+DTBP))が、0.45以上であ
る、
上記調製方法。
- 該触媒が、NaOHまたはKOHである請求項1記載の方法。
- 該溶媒がエタノール、1プロパノールまたは2−プロパノールである請求項1記載の方法。
