Description
前記第2の基板の前記第2主面にシール材の前駆体を枠状に形成する第1工程、
前記第2主面の前記シール材の前駆体で囲まれた領域に、前記吸湿性物質を含む液状の組成物を塗布し、前記組成物を乾燥させて前記吸湿性物質を含む層を形成する第2工程、及び
前記第2の基板を、前記第2主面に形成された前記枠状のシール材の前駆体で前記第1主面に形成された前記発光素子を囲みながら前記第1の基板に重ね合わせ、シール材の前駆体を硬化させることにより、シール材で第1の基板と第2の基板とを固着し且つ第1主面と第2主面との間に発光素子と吸湿性物質を含む層とを封じ込める第3工程をこの順に行うことを特徴とする。
本発明の第1実施形態を、図1を用いて説明する。図1は有機EL表示装置の断面図である。
本発明の第2実施形態に係る有機EL表示装置及びその製造方法を、図2乃至図5を用いて説明する。
素子基板101は、絶縁表面を有する基板であり、例えば、ガラス基板、石英基板、シリコン基板等が用いられる。
図2(a)に示すように、素子基板101の一方の面(主面)に、バリア膜として、例えば窒化ケイ素(SiN)及び炭化ケイ素(SiO2)からなる下層絶縁膜131をCVD法(化学気相成長法)等により堆積する。さらに、この下層絶縁膜131上に適当な膜厚(例えば約50nm)のアモルファスシリコン膜(非晶質半導体膜)132をCVD法により堆積する。
本実施形態では、有機発光素子の発光を素子基板側から取り出す所謂ボトムエミッション型の有機EL表示装置の一例を、図6を参照して説明する。本実施の形態の有機EL表示装置は、実施の形態1の図1を用いた有機EL表示装置と比べて、素子基板、封止基板、吸湿材層、および有機EL素子の構造で若干相違する。
Claims (15)
- 発光素子が形成された第1主面を有する第1の基板と、吸湿性物質を含む層が形成された第2主面を有する第2の基板とを、該第1主面と該第2主面とで貼り合せる有機エレクトロルミネッセンス表示装置の製造方法であって、
前記第2の基板の前記第2主面にシール材の前駆体を枠状に形成する第1工程、
前記第2主面の前記シール材の前駆体で囲まれた領域に、前記吸湿性物質を含む液状の組成物を塗布し、前記組成物を乾燥させて前記吸湿性物質を含む層を形成する第2工程、
及び
前記第2の基板を、前記第2主面に形成された前記枠状のシール材の前駆体で前記第1主面に形成された前記発光素子を囲みながら前記第1の基板に重ね合わせ、該シール材の前駆体を圧縮して、前記吸湿性物質を含む層の周縁上に該シール材の前駆体が延びた状態で該シール材の前駆体を硬化させることにより、該シール材の内周の輪郭に沿う部分において前記吸湿性物質を含む層の上面に接する該シール材で該第1の基板と該第2の基板とを固着し且つ該第1主面と該第2主面との間に該発光素子と該吸湿性物質を含む層とを封じ込める第3工程をこの順に行い、
前記第3工程によって、前記第2主面において、前記吸湿性物質を含む層が、その輪郭が前記シール材の内周と外周との間で該外周沿いに延在し、且つその該シール材と重なる周縁が該シール材の外周と離されるように形成されることにより、前記吸湿性物質を含む層が前記シール材と重なる周縁を、前記シール材と前記第2基板との間で該シール材および該第2基板にそれぞれ接するように設けることを特徴とする有機エレクトロルミネッセンス表示装置の製造方法。 - 請求項1において、前記組成物を加熱することで固化し、前記吸湿性物質を含む層を形成することを特徴とする有機エレクトロルミネッセンス表示装置の製造方法。
- 請求項1において、前記組成物を200℃以下の温度で加熱することで固化し、前記吸湿性物質を含む層を形成することを特徴とする有機エレクトロルミネッセンス表示装置の製造方法。
- 請求項1において、前記組成物を、不活性気体雰囲気中で塗布することを特徴とする有機エレクトロルミネッセンス表示装置の製造方法。
- 請求項1において、前記シール材は、200℃以下の加熱によって柔軟性と接着性を損失しないことを特徴とする有機エレクトロルミネッセンス表示装置の製造方法。
- 請求項1において、前記シール材は、紫外光硬化性樹脂からなることを特徴とする有機エレクトロルミネッセンス表示装置の製造方法。
- 請求項1において、前記シール材が、有機ポリマと光反応開始剤との混合物からなることを特徴とする有機エレクトロルミネッセンス表示装置の製造方法。
- 請求項7において、前記有機ポリマが、側鎖アクリル基を有するポリマであることを特徴とする有機エレクトロルミネッセンス表示装置の製造方法。
- 請求項7において、前記有機ポリマが、ビニルエーテルポリマであることを特徴とする有機エレクトロルミネッセンス表示装置の製造方法。
- 請求項7において、前記有機ポリマが、ハイパーブランチ型エポキシアクリレートポリマであることを特徴とする有機エレクトロルミネッセンス表示装置の製造方法。
- 請求項7において、前記有機ポリマが、ハイパーブランチ型オキセタンメタリレートポリマであることを特徴とする有機エレクトロルミネッセンス表示装置の製造方法。
- 請求項7において、前記有機ポリマが、ノボラック型オキセタンアクリレートポリマであることを特徴とする有機エレクトロルミネッセンス表示装置の製造方法。
- 請求項7において、前記光反応開始剤が、光ラジカル重合開始剤であることを特徴とする有機エレクトロルミネッセンス表示装置の製造方法。
- 請求項1において、前記シール材は、紫外光の照射により固化することを特徴とする有機エレクトロルミネッセンス表示装置の製造方法。
- 請求項1において、前記シール材は、紫外光の照射により硬化が開始し、その後の加熱により固化することを特徴とする有機エレクトロルミネッセンス表示装置の製造方法。
