Description
図1は本発明の一実施形態である接合型ハニカム構造体1を模式的に示す斜視図である。図2は、図1のハニカム構造体1を構成するハニカムセグメント2を示す斜視図である。さらに、図3は、図2のハニカムセグメント2のX−X断面図である。
本発明の実施形態2について説明する。図4は本発明の別の実施形態である一体型ハニカム構造体20を模式的に示す斜視図である。ハニカム構造体20は、一体成形されており、セル5はハニカム構造体20の中心軸方向に互いに並行するように配設されており、隣接しているセル5におけるそれぞれの端部が交互に充填材7によって目封じされている。
直径144mm×長さ152mmの円筒形状であり、セルの断面形状が正方形であり、かつ隣接するセルが互いに反対側の端部で目封じされており、流入側目封じ部深さD1が5.0mm、流出側目封じ部深さD2が10.0mm、流入側目封じ部気孔率P1が60.0%、流出側目封じ部気孔率P2が50.0%、流入側平均目封じ部断面積S1が0.5mm2、流出側平均目封じ部断面積S2が1.0mm2のハニカム構造体を気孔率52%材料より作成した。表1に、流入側平均目封じ部断面積S1に対する流出側平均目封じ部断面積S2の比である平均目封じ部断面積比S2/S1と共に、各パラメータの値を示した。
表1に示したように、流出側目封じ部深さD2、流出側目封じ部気孔率P2、流入側平均目封じ部断面積S1、及び流出側平均目封じ部断面積S2を変更したほかは、実施例1と同様にして実施例2〜8、比較例1〜19を製造した。
各実施例及び比較例に係るハニカム構造体をエンジンの排気通路に配設して排ガス浄化装置とし、上記エンジンを回転数3000min−1、トルク50Nmで所定の時間運転し、その後に再生処理を行う実験を行い、再生時のハニカム構造体の最高温度を測定し、結果を表1に示した。また、各ハニカム構造体の流出側目封じ部と流入側目封じ部における熱容量の差(流出側目封じ部熱容量−流入側目封じ部熱容量)も目封じ部熱容量差として表1に示した。
Claims (4)
- 多孔質の隔壁によって区画された被処理流体の流路となる複数のセルを有し、前記被処理流体の流入側端部において所定の前記セルが充填材により目封じされ、前記被処理流体の流出側端部において残余の前記セルが前記充填材により目封じされたハニカム構造体であって、
前記流入側端部における目封じ部の前記セルの中心軸方向に対する垂直断面積の平均を流入側平均目封じ部断面積S1、前記流出側端部における目封じ部の前記セルの中心軸方向に対する垂直断面積の平均を流出側平均目封じ部断面積S2とした場合に、S1<S2の関係であり、
前記流入側端部における前記目封じ部の深さを流入側目封じ部深さD1、前記流出側端部における前記目封じ部の深さを流出側目封じ部深さD2とした場合に、D1<D2の関係であると共に、前記流出側目封じ部深さD2が5mm<D2<20mmの範囲であり、
前記流入側端部における前記充填材の気孔率を流入側目封じ部気孔率P1、前記流出側端部おける前記充填材の気孔率を流出側目封じ部気孔率P2とした場合に、P1>P2の関係であると共に、前記流出側目封じ部気孔率P2が30%<P2<60%の範囲であり、
前記目封じ部の熱容量が、前記流入側端部よりも前記流出側端部おいて大きくなるように形成されたハニカム構造体。 - 前記流入側平均目封じ部断面積S1が0.2mm2<S1<1.0mm2の範囲であり、
前記流出側平均目封じ部断面積S2が0.4mm2<S2<1.4mm2の範囲であり、
前記流入側目封じ部深さD1が2mm<D1<10mmの範囲であり、
前記流入側目封じ部気孔率P1が50%<P1<70%の範囲である請求項1に記載のハニカム構造体。 - 前記流入側平均目封じ部断面積S1が0.3mm2<S1<0.7mm2の範囲であり、
前記流出側平均目封じ部断面積S2が0.6mm2<S2<1.2mm2の範囲であり、
前記流入側目封じ部深さD1が3mm<D1<7mmの範囲であり、
前記流出側目封じ部深さD2が8mm<D2<18mmの範囲であり、
前記流入側目封じ部気孔率P1が55%<P1<65%の範囲であり、
前記流出側目封じ部気孔率P2が35%<P2<55%の範囲である請求項1に記載のハニカム構造体。 - 一の前記隔壁を挟んだ両側の前記セルが互いに反対側の端部において目封じされており、
前記流入側端部において目封じされている前記セルの中心軸方向に対する垂直断面形状と、前記流出側端部において目封じされている前記セルの中心軸方向に対する垂直断面形状が異なる請求項1〜3の何れか1項に記載のハニカム構造体。
