上式において、α及びβは、約1/16であり、Ymax=8ビットに関し255である。それ故、変更後輝度成分Y′[t]は本発明のこの特定の実施形態に従って、第1の輝度成分Y[t−n]と次の所望の輝度成分Y[t]の差に基づいており、この差に可変オーバドライブ係数αが乗算される。

最後に、オーバドライブ値Ro、Go、Boは、オーバドライブ電圧をLCセルに与えるために用いられている。変更後輝度成分Y′[t]をRGBへの変換前に更に処理するのがよいことは注目されたい。例えば、この変更後輝度成分を空間的に別の解像度に合わせてスケール変更するのがよい。
Claims (14)
- 液晶セル中のモーションブラーを低減する方法であって、
ピクチャーフレームをRGBに基づく色空間からYUV色空間に変換するステップと、
第1のピクチャーフレームに関連付けられた輝度成分をストレージするステップを有し、
次のピクチャーフレームに関する変更後の輝度成分を創出するステップを有し、前記変更後輝度成分の値は、前記次のピクチャーフレームに含まれる輝度成分の値と前記第1のピクチャーフレームに関連付けられている前記ストレージされた輝度成分の値の差に基づいており、前記変更後輝度成分は、前記差にオーバードライブ係数を乗算した結果に基づく値を前記変更後輝度成分に割り当てることにより創出され、
前記変更後輝度成分及び前記次のピクチャーフレームに含まれる色成分をRGBに基づく色空間に変換するステップと、
前記変更後輝度成分の値及び前記色成分に基づいて、駆動電圧を前記液晶セルに印加するステップと、
モーションブラー低減のためのしきい値を設定するステップおよび時間軸ノイズ低減のためのしきい値を設定するステップを更に有し、前記差の値が前記モーションブラー低減のためのしきい値を超えている場合、前記駆動電圧が前記液晶セルに印加され、あるいは前記差の値が前記時間軸ノイズ低減のためのしきい値よりも小さい場合、ノイズ低減が前記差に対して実施され、モーションブラー低減のための前記しきい値は、時間軸ノイズ低減のための前記しきい値に等しく設定される方法。 - 前記変更後輝度成分の値は、前記第1のピクチャーフレームの前記輝度成分の値を更に加算することにより創出される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記変更後輝度成分の値は、前記次のピクチャーフレームの前記輝度成分の値を更に加算することにより創出される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記オーバードライブ係数は、前記差の大きさで決まる可変係数である、請求項1〜3のうちいずれか一に記載の方法。
- 前記オーバードライブ係数は、輝度成分の大きさで決まる可変係数である、請求項1〜3のうちいずれか一に記載の方法。
- 前記オーバードライブ係数は、所定のルックアップテーブルから得られる、請求項4又は5に記載の方法。
- 前記変更後輝度成分は、所定のルックアップテーブルから直接得られた値を前記変更後輝度成分に割り当てることにより創出される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 各ピクチャーフレームの前記輝度成分は、フレームメモリにストレージされる、請求項1〜7のうちいずれか一に記載の方法。
- モーションブラー低減は、先の輝度成分及び現在の輝度成分を得る任意の他のビデオ処理と、前記フレームメモリへのアクセスを共有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 先の輝度成分及び現在の輝度成分を得る前記任意の他のビデオ処理は、時間軸ノイズ低減処理から成る、請求項9に記載の方法。
- 先の輝度成分及び現在の輝度成分を得る前記任意の他のビデオ処理は、モーション検出処理から成る、請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記輝度成分は、パネル完全解像度よりも低い解像度でストレージされる、請求項1〜11のうちいずれか一に記載の方法。
- 前記記憶された輝度成分は、前記第1のピクチャーフレームの輝度成分を含む、請求項1〜12のうちいずれか一に記載の方法。
- 前記記憶された輝度成分は、前記第1のピクチャーフレームの修正後輝度成分を含む、請求項1〜13のうちいずれか一に記載の方法。
