Description
図1は、実施の形態に係るマルチコア光ファイバを使用した光伝送システムの構成図である。図1に示すように、この光伝送システム100は、光送信装置1と、光コネクタ2と、マルチコア光ファイバ3と、光コネクタ4と、光受信装置5とを備えている。
また、コア径を13μm未満とすると、ケーブルカットオフ波長1530nm以下において、クロストークを−15dB以上0dB未満とするためにより好ましい。
本発明の実施例1〜3および参考例として、図2に示すような7つのコア部を有する構造であり、コア径が8.6μm、クラッド部に対するコア部の比屈折率差Δが0.34%のマルチコア光ファイバを製造した。なお、マルチコア光ファイバのクラッド部の外周には被覆を形成した。

Claims (4)
- 複数のコア部と、
前記各コア部の外周に位置し、前記各コア部の屈折率よりも低い屈折率を有するクラッド部とを備え、
互いに隣接する前記コア部間の離隔距離が、25μm〜56μmであり、かつ、100m以上100km以下から選択される使用長の全長における該コア部間での光のクロストークが波長1550nmにおいて−15dB以上0dB未満であり、前記各コア部のコア径が5μm以上13μm未満、前記クラッド部に対する前記各コア部の比屈折率差が0.16%より大きく0.93%以下であり、ケーブルカットオフ波長が1530nm以下となるように設定されているマルチコア光ファイバのスーパーモードを用いてモード多重伝送を行い、前記スーパーモードとして、前記マルチコア光ファイバのいずれか一つのコア部に入力された光のフィールドが前記コア部に局在しながら伝搬するスーパーモードを用いることを特徴とする光伝送方法。 - 前記マルチコア光ファイバは、前記離隔距離が25μm〜35μmであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光伝送方法。
- 前記マルチコア光ファイバは、前記離隔距離が30μm以下であることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の光伝送方法。
- 前記マルチコア光ファイバは、前記離隔距離が30μm〜56μmであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光伝送方法。
