Description
Claims (19)
- 無線ローカルエリアネットワーク(WLAN)のアクセスポイントであって、
WLAN信号をマルチモード無線通信装置と送受信するように構成されているWLANインターフェイスと、
前記マルチモード無線通信装置から無線ワイドエリアネットワーク(WWAN)のWWAN基地局へ送信されるWWAN上りリンク信号をモニタするように構成されているWWAN受信部と、
前記WWAN上りリンク信号が前記マルチモード無線通信装置と前記アクセスポイントとの間の距離が近接閾値よりも短いことを示す場合に、前記マルチモード無線通信装置に前記アクセスポイントの存在を示すビーコン信号をWWAN周波数帯域内において前記マルチモード無線通信装置に送信するように構成されているWWAN送信部と、
を備えるアクセスポイント。 - 前記WWAN送信部は、前記ビーコン信号を直交波周波数分割多重(OFDM)トーンにより送信するように構成されている、
請求項1に記載のアクセスポイント。 - 前記WWAN周波数帯域は、前記WWAN基地局から前記マルチモード無線通信装置へ下りリンク通信信号を送信する為に用いられるWWAN下りリンク周波数帯域である、
請求項1に記載のアクセスポイント。 - 前記マルチモード無線通信装置を前記WWANから前記WLANインターフェイスへハンドオフさせるかどうかの判定は、前記マルチモード無線通信装置によって受信された時点での前記ビーコン信号の信号強度に少なくとも部分的に基づいて行われる、
請求項1に記載のアクセスポイント。 - 前記WWANから下りリンク通信パラメータを受信するWWANインターフェイスをさらに備える、
請求項1に記載のアクセスポイント。 - 前記WWANインターフェイスは、有線接続を介して前記下りリンク通信パラメータを受信するように構成されている、
請求項5に記載のアクセスポイント。 - 前記WWANインターフェイスは、無線接続を介して前記下りリンク通信パラメータを受信するように構成されている、
請求項5に記載のアクセスポイント。 - 前記WWANインターフェイスは、前記WWAN受信部を備えており、且つ下りリンクWWAN制御チャネルを介して前記下りリンク通信パラメータを受信するように構成されている、
請求項7に記載のアクセスポイント。 - 前記WWAN送信部は、前記ビーコン信号を前記マルチモード無線通信装置の識別子(ID)に従って符号化するように構成されている、
請求項1に記載のアクセスポイント。 - 前記WWAN送信部は、前記ビーコン信号を前記アクセスポイントのWLAN識別子(ID)に従って符号化するように構成されている、
請求項1に記載のアクセスポイント。 - マルチモード無線通信装置であって、
無線ワイドエリアネットワーク(WWAN)基地局からWWAN下りリンク周波数帯域内において無線通信信号を受信し、無線ローカルエリアネットワーク(WLAN)のアクセスポイントから前記WWAN下りリンク周波数帯域内においてビーコン信号を受信するためのWWAN受信部と、
前記アクセスポイントからWLAN信号を受信するためのWLAN受信部と、
メモリを有するプロセッサであって、前記ビーコン信号の特性が閾値を越える場合に前記ビーコン信号を復号して装置識別子を抽出し、前記抽出した装置識別子を前記メモリに記憶されている前記マルチモード無線通信装置の装置識別子と比較し、前記抽出した装置識別子が前記メモリに記憶されている前記マルチモード無線通信装置の装置識別子と一致する場合に前記アクセスポイントからのWLANサービスを得るためのハンドオフ処理を開始し、前記アクセスポイントから前記WLAN信号を受信するために前記WLAN受信部を起動するプロセッサと、
を備えるマルチモード無線通信装置。 - 前記ビーコン信号は、直交波周波数分割多重(OFDM)トーンにより受信される、
請求項11に記載のマルチモード無線通信装置。 - 前記特性は、SN比(SNR)であり、
前記プロセッサは、前記SNRがSNR閾値よりも大きい場合に前記WLAN受信部を起動するように構成されている、
請求項11に記載のマルチモード無線通信装置。 - 前記特性は、信号強度であり、
前記プロセッサは、前記信号強度が信号強度閾値よりも大きい場合に前記WLAN受信部を起動するように構成されている、
請求項11に記載のマルチモード無線通信装置。 - GPSデータを受信するGPS受信部と、
前記GPSデータに基づくGPS情報を前記WWAN基地局へ送信するWWAN送信部と、
をさらに備える請求項11に記載のマルチモード無線通信装置。 - マルチモード無線通信装置と通信を行うように構成されている無線ローカルエリアネットワーク(WLAN)のアクセスポイントにおいて実行される方法であって、
上りリンク(UL)送信制御情報を含む無線ワイドエリアネットワーク(WWAN)下りリンク(DL)信号を受信し、
前記マルチモード無線通信装置からWWAN UL信号をモニタし、
前記UL送信制御情報と前記WWAN UL信号に基づいて前記マルチモード無線通信装置の前記アクセスポイントに対する近接度を判定し、
前記近接度が閾値よりも低い場合に、前記マルチモード無線通信装置に前記アクセスポイントの存在を示すビーコン信号をWWAN周波数帯域内において前記マルチモード無線通信装置に送信し、
WLAN信号を前記マルチモード無線通信装置と送受信する、
ことを含む方法。 - 前記近接度の判定は、前記UL送信制御情報に含まれるWWAN UL信号送信電力レベルと前記WWAN UL信号の受信電力レベルとの電力差を算出することを含む、
請求項16に記載の方法。 - 前記近接度の判定は、前記UL送信制御情報に含まれるWWAN UL信号送信時間と前記WWAN UL信号の受信時間との時間差を算出することを含む、
請求項16に記載の方法。 - 前記近接度の判定は、前記マルチモード無線通信装置の地理的位置情報を示し前記マルチモード無線通信装置から送信されるGPS情報を評価することを含む、
請求項16に記載の方法。
