Claims (3)
- バックライトと液晶表示素子とを有する液晶表示装置において、
前記液晶表示装置に入力する映像信号における映像の画像解析を行い、
前記画像解析の結果に基づいて、前記液晶表示素子における制御と、前記バックライトにおける制御との双方において画質調整を行うものであり、
前記画像解析は、
前記映像信号における映像について、輝度ヒストグラム、色度ヒストグラム、色彩ヒストグラム、空間周波数ヒストグラムの4要素について分析しヒストグラムを作成するマクロ分析と、
前記映像信号の水平成分と垂直成分に分けて各々の信号成分について分析して、前記水平成分を表わす水平データと前記垂直成分を表わす垂直データを生成するディテール分析と、
に分けて解析し、
前記マクロ分析及び前記ディテール分析の解析結果から、前記バックライトの輝度を増減制御するための前記映像信号における映像の黒レベルを検出し、前記映像信号のコントラスト量を制御するための白レベルを検出し、前記バックライトの輝度の増減制御と前記映像信号のコントラスト量制御とのバランスを制御するための平均輝度を検出し、赤系統、緑系統、青系統の色彩のうち支配的な色彩の色温度を所定の方向にシフトするための色彩を検出し、
前記黒レベルの検出、前記白レベルの検出、前記平均輝度の検出、前記色彩の検出を順に行なって前記バックライトが制御され、
前記バックライトにおける制御をした後に、前記黒レベルの検出、前記白レベルの検出、前記平均輝度の検出、前記色彩の検出に加え、色度検出、空間周波数検出を順に行なって前記液晶素子がチューニングレベル制御されることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記バックライトはLED又は複数のLEDの集合体からなるものであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- ホワイトバランスの制御は、前記バックライトにおける制御において行うことを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の液晶表示装置。
