- Electroluminescent Light Sources (AREA)
Description
The present invention is an organic EL panel (organic electroluminescence panel) that is expected to be widely used as a flat panel display, a surface-emitting light source, illumination, a light-emitting advertising body, etc. used in portable terminals such as televisions, personal computer monitors, and mobile phones. Luminescence panel).
The organic EL panel is expected as a flat panel display that replaces a cathode ray tube or a liquid crystal display from the viewpoint of having a wide viewing angle, a high response speed, and low power consumption.
An organic EL panel has a structure in which an organic light-emitting medium layer is interposed between an anode electrode and a cathode electrode, and self-light-emitting light is emitted from the organic light-emitting medium layer by applying a voltage between the electrodes and flowing a current. Type display element. Generally, a transparent electrode is used for the anode, and light generated in the organic light emitting medium layer is extracted from the transparent anode side.
In addition, there are two types of display driving methods, passive matrix driving and active matrix driving. In order to further increase the size and definition of the display, display pixels constituting the display are driven for each pixel by a TFT (thin film transistor). Active matrix driving is advantageous from the viewpoint that low voltage driving can be performed. However, forming a transparent anode on a TFT substrate and producing a conventional bottom surface light emitting device that extracts light from the transparent anode side has a problem that the aperture ratio is limited by the TFT or wiring and the light extraction efficiency is reduced. there were.
Here, a cap sealing method using a glass cap or a metal cap having a concave portion, which is a general sealing method of a bottom emission type organic EL panel, includes a non-translucent desiccant, Cannot be used for top-emitting panels. Therefore, in recent years, a solid sealing method has been proposed in which a passivation film is laminated on an organic EL panel, and a transparent base material is bonded with a solid from the adhesive film (see, for example, Patent Document 2).
However, since the solid sealing method as described above cannot contain a desiccant, in order to suppress the intrusion of water from the end face of the adhesive layer, the adhesive layer is reduced in thickness, reduced in moisture permeability, widened in frame, and passivated. It has been necessary to rely on moisture permeation of the membrane, and it has been difficult to achieve sealing performance that satisfies the recent demand for narrow frame.
The present invention has been made in order to solve the above-described problems. It enables transparent sealing with low moisture permeability and can also be used for sealing a top-emitting panel. Even a narrow frame panel can be used for a long time. An object is to provide an organic EL panel which does not deteriorate.
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides a support base material, a first electrode formed on one surface of the support base material corresponding to a display pixel, and an organic layer stacked on the first electrode. It is covered with a barrier layer, and the adhesive layer is formed between the first barrier layer and the second barrier layer .
According to the organic EL panel of the present invention, the first partition is provided at the peripheral portion of the support base, the second partition is provided at the peripheral portion of the sealing base, and the support base and the sealing base are bonded to each other. The moisture intrusion path can be lengthened without widening the frame width, thereby enabling low moisture-permeable transparent sealing and sealing of the top-emitting panel. An organic EL panel that can be used and has a long life can be provided.

It can be formed of an organic semiconductor material. These active layers are formed by, for example, laminating amorphous silicon by plasma CVD, ion doping, forming amorphous silicon by LPCVD using SiH 4 gas, and crystallizing amorphous silicon by solid phase growth. After obtaining silicon, ion doping is performed by ion implantation, LPCVD using Si 2 H 6 gas, and amorphous silicon is formed by PECVD using SiH 4 gas, and laser such as excimer laser is used. The organic EL element of the present invention needs to be connected so that the thin film transistor functions as a switching element of the organic EL element, and the drain electrode of the transistor and the first electrode of the organic EL element are electrically connected. The thin film transistor, the drain electrode, and the first electrode of the organic EL element are connected via a connection wiring formed in a contact hole that penetrates the planarization film.
Next, a method for manufacturing the organic EL panel in the present embodiment will be described with reference to FIGS.

When the partition wall forming material is a photosensitive material, the entire surface of the forming material solution is coated by a slit coating method or a spin coating method, and then patterning is performed by a photolithography method such as exposure and development. Moreover, you may form a pattern using an intaglio printing method, a relief printing method, and a lithographic printing method. When the partition wall forming material is SiO 2 or TiO 2 , it can be formed by a dry film forming method such as a sputtering method or a CVD method, and patterning of the partition wall can be performed by a mask or a photolithography method.

The film thickness of the organic light emitting medium layer 5 is 1000 nm or less, preferably 50 to 150 nm, even when formed by a single layer or a stacked layer. In particular, the hole transport material of the polymer EL element has a large effect of covering the surface protrusions of the base material and the anode layer, and it is more preferable to form a thick film of about 50 to 100 nm.
As a method for forming the organic light emitting medium layer 5, depending on the material, a vacuum deposition method, a coating method such as spin coating, spray coating, nozzle coating, flexo, gravure, micro gravure, intaglio offset, printing method, ink jet method, etc. Can be used. In particular, in the present embodiment, a formation method in which the organic light emitting medium layer 5 can be patterned in the opening 3a of the insulating

Next, as shown in FIG. 1E, the first barrier layer 7 is laminated so as to cover the entire surface of the insulating
As a method for forming the first barrier layer 7, a resistance heating vapor deposition method, an electron beam vapor deposition method, a reactive vapor deposition method, an ion plating method, a sputtering method, or a CVD method can be used depending on the material. Further, it is preferable to use the CVD method in terms of translucency. As the CVD method, a thermal CVD method, a plasma CVD method, a catalytic CVD method, a VUV-CVD method, or the like can be used. In addition, as a reaction gas in the CVD method, a gas such as N 2 , O 2 , NH 3 , H 2 , N 2 O is added to an organic silicon compound such as monosilane, hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS), or tetraethoxysilane. It can be added as necessary. These films may contain hydrogen or carbon in the film depending on the reactive gas used. The film thickness of the first barrier layer 7 varies depending on the electrode step of the organic EL element, the height of the partition walls of the substrate, the required barrier properties, etc., but is preferably about 10 nm to 10000 nm, and more preferably 100 nm to 1000 nm. The degree is preferred. The first barrier layer 7 preferably has at least a low-density film of ± 100 MPa or less because peeling of the organic EL element occurs when the residual stress of the film is large.
Next, as shown in FIG. 1 (f), the second partition wall 10 is the lower surface of the sealing
Next, as shown in FIG. 1G, the second barrier layer 11 is laminated so as to cover the surface of the second partition 10 and the surface region of the sealing
Note that the second partition 10 may be provided in a plurality of rows in the planar direction of the sealing
