Claims (14)
- 画素電極を有する下部基板と、
前記下部基板の上部に位置し、前記下部基板に対向する対向面上に形成される対向電極を有する上部基板と、
前記下部基板と前記上部基板との間に位置し、軟性高分子を含み、横軸方向の長さが縦軸方向の長さに比べて長いビーズ状高分子スペーサと、
前記下部基板と前記上部基板との間に位置するOCB液晶層と、を備え、
前記下部基板と前記上部基板との間に位置するビーズ状剛性高分子スペーサまたはビーズ状ガラススペーサをさらに備えることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記軟性高分子は、線形高分子であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記線形高分子は、ポリアルキレン、ポリアルキレンオキシド、ポリエステル及びポリアクリレートよりなる群から選ばれる少なくとも1つの高分子であることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記線形高分子は、カルボニル基、スルホニル基、エーテル基、エステル基、アミド基及びハロゲン基よりなる群から選ばれる少なくとも1つの作用基を含むことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記画素電極上に位置する下部配向膜と、前記対向電極上に位置する上部配向膜とをさらに備え、
前記下部配向膜及び前記上部配向膜は、同じ方向に配向処理したものであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記OCB液晶層は、誘電率異方性が正のネマチック液晶を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 画素電極を有する下部基板と、
前記下部基板の上部に位置し、前記下部基板に対向する対向面上に形成される対向電極を有する上部基板と、
前記下部基板と前記上部基板との間に位置し、少なくとも横軸方向の内周に縦軸方向に配列された高分子鎖を含む軟性高分子を含み、横軸方向の長さが縦軸方向の長さに比べて長いビーズ状高分子スペーサと、
前記下部基板と前記上部基板との間に位置するOCB液晶層と、を備え、
前記下部基板と前記上部基板との間に位置するビーズ状剛性高分子スペーサまたはビーズ状ガラススペーサをさらに備えることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記高分子は、線形高分子であることを特徴とする請求項7に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記線形高分子は、ポリアルキレン、ポリアルキレンオキシド、ポリエステル及びポリアクリレートよりなる群から選ばれる少なくとも1つの高分子であることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記高分子は、カルボニル基、スルホニル基、エーテル基、エステル基、アミド基及びハロゲン基よりなる群から選ばれる少なくとも1つの作用基を含むことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 下部基板上に画素電極を形成する段階と、
上部基板上に対向電極を形成する段階と、
前記上部基板または前記下部基板上に、軟性高分子を含むビーズ状高分子スペーサを配置する段階と、
前記上部基板と前記下部基板とを、前記対向電極と前記画素電極とが対向して、前記ビーズ状高分子スペーサの横軸方向の長さが縦軸方向の長さに比べて長くなるように接着する段階と、
前記上部基板と前記下部基板との間に液晶を注入し、OCBモード液晶層を形成する段階とを備え、
前記ビーズ状高分子スペーサを配置する段階は、ビーズ状剛性高分子スペーサまたはビーズ状ガラススペーサをさらに配置する段階を含むことを特徴とする液晶表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記軟性高分子は、線形高分子であることを特徴とする請求項11に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記線形高分子は、ポリアルキレン、ポリアルキレンオキシド、ポリエステル及びポリアクリレートよりなる群から選ばれる少なくとも1つの高分子であることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記線形高分子は、カルボニル基、スルホニル基、エーテル基、エステル基、アミド基及びハロゲン基よりなる群から選ばれる少なくとも1つの作用基を含むことを特徴とする請求項12に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
