図3は、増分符号による14のサブスキャンにより表示可能なグレーレベルを示しており、

この技法は、第1のタイプのm1のサブスキャンのアドレス時間を1/2に短縮し、したがってまたTmaxを短縮することなく追加サブスキャンを加えることを可能にする。
ケース1
A=Bならば、セルC1及びC2は同じサブスキャンの間にオン状態に切り替わる。したがって、グレーレベルA及びBをセルC1及びC2に表示するのに何の問題もない。
ケース2
グレーレベルUを表示するために、対応するセル(C1又はC2)がオンである最初のサブスキャンが第2のタイプのサブスキャンである場合、問題のセルのオン状態へのこの切り替えはもう一方のセルのオン状態への切り替えを伴わないので、これも何の問題もない。
ケース3
最後に、グレーレベルUを表示するために、対応するセルがオンである最初のサブスキャンが第1のタイプのサブスキャンである場合、両方のセルがオン状態へ切り替わるので問題が生じる。したがって、2つのケースが区別される:
(3.1)グレーレベルA及びBが、表示可能なグレーレベルの順序リスト0,1,3,7,15,31,55,79,103,127,151,175,199,223及び247の中の隣り合うグレーレベルである場合、解決手段は、A=Bとなるように、2つのグレーレベルの一方A又はBを変更するものである。これを行うためには、UをUの直ぐ下の表示可能なグレーレベルで置き換えるか、又はLをLの直ぐ上の表示可能なグレーレベルで置き換えることが可能である。これにより最終的にU=L=A=Bとなる。
Claims (6)
- 1つのビデオ画像を1フレームの間ディスプレイ装置に表示する方法であって、
前記装置は行及び列に配列された複数のセルを有しており、前記ビデオ画像フレームはグレーレベルを得るために使用されるサブスキャンと称する複数の期間から構成されており、前記サブスキャンの間、前記装置の各セルはオン状態又はオフ状態のいずれかであり、前記装置のセルの状態は、前記ビデオ画像フレームの間、高々一度変化し、前記サブスキャンは第1のタイプのサブスキャンと第2のタイプのサブスキャンに分割されており、前記第1のタイプのサブスキャンは前記装置のセルの2つの隣接する行に同時にアドレスするものであり、前記第2のタイプのサブスキャンは前記装置のセルの各行に個別にアドレスするものであり、第1のタイプの各サブスキャンが第2のタイプのサブスキャンの直前又は直後であるようにした方法において、
表示可能なグレーレベルの順序リスト中のグレーレベルA及びBを表示する、列方向に隣り合う2つの隣接セルに関して、前記グレーレベルAを得るために使用される第1のタイプのサブスキャン及び第2のタイプのサブスキャンの時間的分布は前記グレーレベルBを得るために使用される第1のタイプのサブスキャン及び第2のタイプのサブスキャンの時間的分布と同一であり、
前記隣接セルのうちの一方の状態が変わる最初のサブスキャンが前記第1のタイプのサブスキャンである場合には、グレーレベルの一方を予め変更する、ただしその際、
グレーレベルAとBが隣接するグレーレベルならば、グレーレベルAとBが等しくなるようにグレーレベルA又はBを変更し、
グレーレベルAとBが隣接するグレーレベルでなければ、前記セルの状態が変化する最初のサブスキャンが前記第2のタイプのサブスキャンとなるようにグレーレベルAとBのうち高い方を変更し、
前記隣接セルのうちの一方の状態が変わる最初のサブスキャンが前記第2のタイプのサブスキャンである場合には、グレーレベルA及びBを変更しない、
ことを特徴とするビデオ画像をフレームの間ディスプレイ装置に表示する方法。 - 前記第1のタイプのサブスキャンの数は前記第2のタイプのサブスキャンの数に等しい、請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記第1のタイプのサブスキャンと前記第2のタイプのサブスキャンは、ビデオ画像フレームの間、前記第2のタイプのサブスキャン1つに対して前記第1のタイプのサブスキャン2つの割合で交互する、請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記パネルのすべてのセルは前記ビデオ画像フレームの開始時にはオフ状態にある、請求項1から3のいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記パネルのすべてのセルは前記ビデオ画像フレームの開始時にはオン状態にある、請求項1から3のいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 請求項1から5のいずれか1項記載の表示方法を実施する装置を有することを特徴とするプラズマディスプレイパネル。
