Description
光遅延線は、こうした光ファイバ通信システムの重要な構成要素である。光遅延線は、光信号の流れを1つの経路から別の経路に切り替える際の重要な構成要素である。光遅延線はインターネット・アプリケーションのためのパケット交換に使用され、インターネット用パケット・アドレスを認識するために使用する相関フィルタにおけるブロックを形成する。遅延線は、信号の経路指定のタイミングを制御するバッファにも使用される。また、遅延線は、データ・ビットを同期化し、様々な光経路間の分散を補償し、経路間の遅延差を補償するために使用される。
したがって、広い動的範囲にわたって連続した分解能を提供する改良型可変光遅延線を提供することが有利である。
本発明の利点、内容、および様々な追加の特徴は、添付の図面と併せて次に詳細に説明する例示の実施形態を検討すれば、さらに十分に明らかになるであろう。
理解されるように、図面は本発明の概念を示す目的のものであって原寸に比例するものではない。
遅延線11は、制御可能な走査ミラー212およびミラー・アレイ213からなるマイクロメカニカル・ミラー・スイッチ(MEMsスイッチ)など光スイッチ211を備える。この遅延線はさらに、ファイバ遅延経路の1つまたは複数のファイバ・アレイ214A、214Bを備える。以下で示すように、各ファイバ・アレイは、複数のファイバ経路を含む。各ファイバ経路は、アレイ内でファイバが他のファイバと異なって湾曲されている湾曲領域221、アレイ内でファイバが他のファイバに対して平行である1つまたは複数の第2の領域222A、222B、および反射器225を含む。このアレイは、各ファイバ経路が、アレイ内の他の経路と異なる遅延を伴った入力信号を反射するように設計されている。コリメータ・レンズのアレイ(図示せず)は、ファイバ・アレイに出入りする光を結合する。
Claims (8)
- 連続同調範囲が拡げられた可変光遅延線であって、
遅延増分の倍数で長さが異なる複数の独立した遅延長から選択された増分遅延長の分だけ受信光信号を遅延させるように構成された増分可変光遅延線、及び
前記増分可変遅延線に光学的な結合によって結合され、前記遅延増分を含む範囲の複数の連続遅延長から選択された連続遅延長の分だけ前記受信光信号を遅延させるように構成された連続可変光遅延線
を備え、
前記光学的な結合が、前記複数の独立した遅延長を含む範囲にわたって連続する選択可能な遅延長の範囲を与えるように前記増分遅延長が前記連続遅延長に付加された直列結合である、可変光遅延線。
- 前記増分可変光遅延線が、さらに、前記増分遅延長に対して前記光信号を切り替える光スイッチを備える、請求項1に記載の可変光遅延線。
- 前記複数の独立した遅延長が、さらに、平行の経路の少なくとも1つの領域、および各経路の曲率が異なるため増分的に異なる経路の長さがもたらされる第2の領域を有する1組の経路を備える、請求項1に記載の可変光遅延線。
- 前記連続可変光遅延線がオール・パス光フィルタを備える、請求項1に記載の可変光遅延線。
- 前記オール・パス・フィルタが、光導波路に光学的に結合された複数の環状共振器を含む多段オール・パス・フィルタを備える、請求項4に記載の可変光遅延線。
- 前記連続可変光遅延線がチャープド・グレーティングを含む、請求項1に記載の可変光遅延線。
- 前記連続可変光遅延線がオール・パス光フィルタを備える、請求項2又は3に記載の可変光遅延線。
- 前記連続可変光遅延線が、光導波路に光学的に結合された複数の環状共振器を含む多段オール・パス光フィルタを備える、請求項3に記載の可変光遅延線。
