Description
Claims (19)
- 指向性アンテナを操作する方法であって、
複数のアンテナ角のそれぞれのメトリックスがMAC層において計算されるようにするステップと、
前記MAC層とは離れているSMEに前記メトリックスを提供するステップと、
前記SMEからの、前記メトリックスを含む入力に基づいて、アクセスポイントに関連付けられた最良のアンテナ角にアンテナを向けるステップと
を含むことを特徴とする方法。 - それぞれのアンテナ角についてのアクセスポイント信号を前記MAC層において受信するステップをさらに含み、前記アクセスポイント信号は、前記メトリックスのそれぞれを計算するために使用されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記アクセスポイント信号のそれぞれは各アクセスポイントから受信されることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記MAC層の前記最良のアンテナ角に関連付けられたアクセスポイントにアクセスするステップをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記アクセスポイント信号はビーコン信号であることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記ビーコン信号を測定するステップをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項5に記載の方法。
- 前記最良のアンテナ角は前記ビーコン信号の信号品質測定値に基づくことを特徴とする請求項6に記載の方法。
- 前記信号品質測定値は、SNR(signal-to-noise ratio)、Eb/No(energy-per-bit per total noise)、RSSI(received signal strength indication)、およびC/I(carrier-to-interference ratio)のうちの少なくとも1つを含むことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記MAC層は、前記アンテナ角の前記指向性アンテナによる受信エネルギーの関数として前記メトリックスを決定することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- モバイルステーションであって、
アクセスポイントと関連付けられた最良のアンテナ角に指向性アンテナを向けるSMEと、
複数のアンテナ角のそれぞれについて、前記SMEの要求で前記最良のアンテナ角を決定するために前記SMEによって使用されるメトリックスを計算するMAC層と
を備え、
前記MAC層は前記SMEの外部にあることを特徴とするモバイルステーション。 - 前記メトリックスに基づいて前記SMEから入力を受け取る指向性アンテナに結合されたアンテナコントロールユニットをさらに備えたことを特徴とする請求項10に記載のモバイルステーション。
- アクセスポイント信号は前記アンテナ角のそれぞれについて前記MAC層によって受信され、前記アクセスポイント信号は前記メトリックスのそれぞれを計算するために前記MAC層によって使用されることを特徴とする請求項11に記載のモバイルステーション。
- 前記SMEは、前記MAC層に前記メトリックスを計算させることを特徴とする請求項11に記載のモバイルステーション。
- 前記SMEは、前記指向性アンテナによって受信されたエネルギーの関数として、前記アンテナ角のそれぞれについてのメトリックスを前記MAC層に決定させることを特徴とする請求項13に記載のモバイルステーション。
- 前記SMEは、前記MAC層に、前記アクセスポイントへ信号を送信させ、前記アクセスポイントからの応答を測定させることを特徴とする請求項13に記載のモバイルステーション。
- 前記アクセスポイント信号はビーコン信号であることを特徴とする請求項12に記載のモバイルステーション。
- 前記ビーコン信号を測定することをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項16に記載のモバイルステーション。
- 前記最良のアンテナ角は前記ビーコン信号の信号品質測定値に基づくことを特徴とする請求項17に記載のモバイルステーション。
- 前記信号品質測定値は、SNR(signal-to-noise ratio)、Eb/No(energy-per-bit per total noise)、RSSI(received signal strength indication)、およびC/I(carrier-to-interference ratio)のうちの少なくとも1つを含むことを特徴とする請求項18に記載のモバイルステーション。
