しかしながら、従来の脱インク法には種々の欠点が存在する。例えば、インク粒子の繊維スラリーからの除去が不完全である場合、得られた紙が、灰色の色調となったり、染みがついていたり、明度の低いものとなる。明度及び色は、多くの紙の用途において重要な品質の基準となっている。

シロキサンは、好ましくは、5.0乃至7.3の範囲の親水性/親油性バランス(HLB)を有している。

本発明の方法において、該添加物はパルプ化の前、パルプ化の工程時、又はパルプ化の後に紙に加えることができる。紙に加えられるべき添加物の量は、紙に対して0.1乃至1重量%の範囲内であることが好ましく、より好ましくは、0.1乃至0.5重量%である。添加物は、例えば、乳剤のように希釈せずに紙に加えられるか、又は例えば水溶液のように、溶解して加えられる。
本発明のパルプ化工程及びインク除去工程は、当業者には周知であり、かつ上記に記載されたように、従来どおりの方法にて実施され得る。例えば、紙は、35乃至45℃のような30乃至50℃の範囲の温度にて、1乃至10%(例えば、1乃至5%)の濃度を有する水性のスラリーを形成するためにパルプ化され得る。濃度(consistency)は繊維を含んだ懸濁液中のパルプ固形物の重量%にて定義される。インクの除去は、例えば30乃至50℃(例えば、35乃至45℃)の適切な温度であり、かつ例えば500乃至1000rpmのような単位時間(分)当たりの所定の回転数にて、適切な浮選用セル(例えば、Denver Lab社製の浮選セル)中にて実施され得る。本発明の方法に関連した更なる利点は、フレキソ印刷の廃棄物を処理するために使用した場合、処理工程中における水が、比較的澄んでいる点が挙げられる。これに対し、周知の脱インク法を使用した場合、水は黒色になる。更に、本発明の方法は明度が改善されたパルプを生成する。
混合容器中において、4%の濃度を有する110gの空気乾燥した廃棄紙(50%の新聞紙と50%の雑誌)の水性懸濁液に440gの工業用水を45℃にて加えた。懸濁された紙は45℃にて15分間混練された。
16°dHの硬度を有する水を、上記a)において得られたパルプ中に加えて、1%の濃度を得た。約11モル%のケイ素原子が−(OC2H4)18(OC3H6)18側鎖に置換された置換物を有し、HLBが約6.1であり、かつ分子量が約60000である水酸基がエンドキャップ処理された種々の量のポリジメチルシロキサン(以下の明細書中において「シロキサン1」と参照される)を該パルプに水性溶液として加えた。該パルプをDenver Lab社製の浮選セル中にて、45℃、1000rpmにて8分間、浮選した。その後、パルプを水から分離し、真空下、95℃にて10分間乾燥しながら、シート形成機の二つのフィルタの間にてシートを形成した。
混合容器中において、20%の濃度を有する110gの空気乾燥した廃棄紙(10%の新聞紙と90%の雑誌)の水性懸濁液に440mlの工業用水を45℃にて加えた。懸濁された紙は45℃にて15分間混練された。
上記a)において得られたパルプ中に水を加えて、1.09%の濃度を得た。以下の表4において定義される水酸基がエンドキャップ処理された種々の量のシロキサンを該パルプに水性溶液として加えた。該パルプをDenver Lab社製の浮選セル中にて、45℃にて8分間、浮選した。
混合容器中において、20%の濃度を有する110gの空気乾燥した廃棄紙(100%新聞紙)の水性懸濁液に400mlの工業用水を45℃にて加えた。懸濁された紙は45℃にて15分間混練された。
上記a)において得られたパルプ中に水を加えて、1.09%の濃度を得た。表4及び実施例1において定義された水酸基がエンドキャップ処理された種々の量のシロキサンを該パルプに水性溶液として加えた。該パルプをDenver Lab社製の浮選セル中にて、45℃にて8分間、浮選した。
Claims (13)
- 印刷紙からインクを除去する方法において、前記方法は、水性スラリーを形成するために紙をパルプ化する工程と、脱インク用添加物を紙に加える工程と、浮選により分離されたインクを除去する工程とからなり、
前記添加物は、親水性/親油性バランス(HLB)が5.9乃至6.3である水酸基がエンドキャップ処理された直鎖状ポリジメチルシロキサンを含み、該直鎖状ポリジメチルシロキサンは、10乃至12モル%のケイ素原子が、式:
- 前記シロキサンは、1000乃至500000の範囲の分子量を有する請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記シロキサンは、10000乃至100000の範囲の分子量を有する請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記添加物は、ポリジメチルシロキサン、有機ポリエーテル及び脂肪酸から選択される一つ以上の成分を更に含む請求項1乃至3のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記添加物は、飽和又は不飽和の一塩基性脂肪族カルボン酸である脂肪酸を更に含む請求項4又は5に記載の方法。
- 前記カルボン酸は、ラウリン酸、ミリスチン酸、パルミチン酸、ステアリン酸、アラキン酸、ベヘン酸、リグノセリン酸、パルミトレイン酸、オレイン酸、リノール酸、リノレン酸及びアラキドン酸から選択される請求項6に記載の方法。
- 前記添加物は乳剤である請求項1乃至7のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記添加物は、ガムベースの自己乳化型シロキサンである請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記添加物は紙に対して0.1乃至1重量%の範囲内の量にて前記紙に加えられる請求項1乃至9のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記添加物は紙に対して0.1乃至0.5重量%の範囲内の量にて前記紙に加えられる請求項10に記載の方法。
- 中性のpHにて実施される請求項1乃至11のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記添加物は、パルプ化工程の前、パルプ化工程時又はパルプ化工程の後に前記紙に加えられる請求項1乃至12のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
