Claims (22)
- 基体に液滴を付着させるための装置において、
前記基体のための支持体、
前記支持体上の前記基体に前記液滴を付着させるための、該支持体の上に位置した液滴噴射アセンブリであって、ポンピング・チャンバ、変位部材および前記液滴を噴射するオリフィスを備えた液滴噴射アセンブリ、
前記変位部材に液滴を噴射させる信号を提供するための制御装置、および
前記ポンピング・チャンバ内で整流拡散タイプの気泡の増大を防ぐために、該ポンピング・チャンバ内の全圧を閾値圧力レベルより上昇させるための静圧の供給源、
を有してなる装置。 - 基体に液滴を付着させるための装置において、
前記基体のための支持体、
前記支持体上の前記基体に前記液滴を付着させるための、該支持体の上に位置した液滴噴射アセンブリであって、ポンピング・チャンバ、変位部材および前記液滴を噴射するオリフィスを備えた液滴噴射アセンブリ、
前記変位部材に液滴を噴射させる信号を提供するための制御装置、
前記液滴がそこを通って前記基体上に噴射される外囲領域を前記支持体と一緒になって画成すると共に、前記基体がそこを通って移動する入口間隙および出口間隙を前記支持体と一緒になって画成する外囲構造体、および
前記ポンピング・チャンバ内で整流拡散タイプの気泡の増大を防ぐために、該ポンピング・チャンバ内の全圧を閾値圧力レベルより上昇させるための静圧の供給源、
を有してなる装置。 - 前記入口間隙が0.05mmから1mm(0.002インチから0.04インチ)であることを特徴とする請求項2記載の装置。
- 前記出口間隙が0.05mmから1mm(0.002インチから0.04インチ)であることを特徴とする請求項2または3記載の装置。
- 前記静圧が1.5絶対気圧よりも高いことを特徴とする請求項1から4いずれか1項記載の装置。
- 前記信号が、8000Hzより大きい周波数で提供されることを特徴とする請求項1から5いずれか1項記載の装置。
- 前記液滴がインクを含むことを特徴とする請求項1から6いずれか1項記載の装置。
- 前記基体が紙を含むことを特徴とする請求項1から7いずれか1項記載の装置。
- 連続的に移動する支持体をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1から8いずれか1項記載の装置。
- 前記静圧の供給源が加圧ガスを含むことを特徴とする請求項1から9いずれか1項記載の装置。
- 粒状物質を除去するための前記加圧ガスを濾過する手段をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項10記載の装置。
- 前記加圧ガスの供給源に水分を加える手段を含むことを特徴とする請求項10または11記載の装置。
- 前記加圧ガスの供給源に溶媒を加える手段を含むことを特徴とする請求項10または11記載の装置。
- 前記加圧ガスが空気であることを特徴とする請求項10から13いずれか1項記載の装置。
- 前記加圧ガスが、空気の酸素含有量未満の酸素含有量を有することを特徴とする請求項10から13いずれか1項記載の装置。
- 前記加圧ガスが、空気の酸素含有量より大きい酸素含有量を有することを特徴とする請求項10から13いずれか1項記載の装置。
- 請求項1から16いずれか1項記載の装置を用いて基体に液滴を付着させる方法であって、
ポンピング・チャンバの全圧を閾値圧力レベルより高く上昇させながら変位部材を駆動させてポンピング・チャンバから液滴を噴出させ、ポンピング・チャンバ内の整流拡散タイプの気泡の増大を低減することを特徴とする方法。 - 前記ポンピング・チャンバ内の全圧を閾値圧力レベルより上昇させるために1.5絶対気圧よりも高い静圧を加えることを特徴とする請求項17記載の方法。
- 前記ポンピング・チャンバ内の全圧を閾値圧力レベルより上昇させるための静圧の供給源として加圧ガスを用いることを特徴とする請求項17または18記載の方法。
- 前記加圧ガスを濾過して粒状物質を除去する工程を含むことを特徴とする請求項19記載の方法。
- 前記加圧ガスに水分を加える工程を含むことを特徴とする請求項19または20記載の方法。
- 前記加圧ガスに溶媒を加える工程を含むことを特徴とする請求項19または20記載の方法。
