Claims (5)
- 燃料極(20)、電解質(24)及び空気極(22)の各々が、1つの平坦な中央部材及び該中央部材から斜めに延びた2つの斜め部材の3つの部材から成り、且つ、燃料極(20)、電解質(24)及び空気極(22)がアーチ形構造である燃料電池(40)と、
アーチ形構造の燃料極(20)の前記中央部材に対して垂直な向きで燃料を供給する燃料流路ヘッダ(35)と前記中央部材に対して垂直な向きで前記燃料電池(40)からの排気を排出物ヘッダ(116)へ排出する排出物流路(37)を含む燃料供給マニホルド(26)と、
を含んで成り、
前記アーチ形構造の燃料極(20)の直線寸法が2〜15mmであり、
燃料流が、一方の斜め部材から他方の斜め部材へ向かう方向へ前記中央部材に沿って流れるように構成されている、燃料電池システム。 - 前記燃料電池システムが複数のアーチ形構造の燃料極(20)を含み、且つ前記燃料供給マニホルド(26)が前記燃料流路ヘッダ(35)から個々の燃料極(20)へ燃料を供給する燃料供給スポーク(43)を含む、請求項1に記載の燃料電池システム。
- 前記燃料供給スポーク(43)が、前記燃料極の中央部材に平行な方向に延びている、請求項2に記載の燃料電池システム。
- 請求項1に記載された燃料電池システムの燃料電池から副産物を除去する方法であって、
前記アーチ形構造の燃料極(20)に対して第1の方向(41)で燃料を流し込み、前記一方の斜め部材から他方の斜め部材へ向かう方向に前記中央部材に沿って燃料を流すことによって燃料が消費されるか又は該燃料に触媒作用を及ぼした直後に、前記副産物を前記アーチ形構造の燃料極(20)に対して第2の方向(37)で排出物ヘッダ(116)へ排出させることを含み、前記第1及び第2の方向が前記アーチ形構造の前記中央部材に対して垂直である、方法。 - 燃料供給マニホルド(26)を用いて複数の前記アーチ形構造の燃料極(20)へと燃料を流すステップと、前記排出物ヘッダ(116)を用いて前記複数のアーチ形構造の燃料極(20)から副産物を排出するステップとを包含する、請求項4に記載の方法。
