Description
40Gb/sおよびそれ以上の高速データ・システムのような伝送速度が速い送信システムはチャネルごとの分散補償器を必要とする大きい帯域幅を有している。このような高速システムの利点は、これらの分散補償器を同調可能であることである。ファイバ、バルク光学、および導波路をベースにしたTDCを含むさまざまな種類の可変分散補償器(TDC)が提案されている。
Claims (11)
- 分散補償器であって、
第一導波路グレーティングおよび第二導波路グレーティング(1101−1102)を有し、該導波路グレーティング(1101−1102)は各々、
第一スターカプラ(1301−1321)と、
経路の長さが増大する導波路のアレイ(1201−120n、1221−122n)であって、前記導波路のアレイ(1201−120n、1221−122n)の該各導波路の第一端が前記第一スターカプラ(1301−1321)に光学的に結合された導波路のアレイと、
前記導波路のアレイ(1201−120n、1221−122n)の該各導波路の第二端が第二スターカプラ(1302−1322)に光学的に結合されている第二スターカプラ(1302−1322)と、
前記第一導波路グレーティング(1101)の前記第二スターカプラ(1302)と前記第二導波路グレーティング(1102)の前記第二スターカプラ(1322)とを光学的に結合する、放物線状の屈折率分布を有する熱光学レンズ及び電気光学レンズの何れか一つ(150)を備えた分散補償器。 - 前記熱光学レンズ及び電気光学レンズの何れか一つが熱光学レンズ(150)であり、前記熱光学レンズ(150)は、
ほぼ一定の中心間間隔と、最も外側の加熱素子から最も内側の加熱素子に向かってそれぞれ変化する幅とを有する複数個の並列加熱素子(2101−210n)と、
前記加熱素子(2101−210n)に電位を供給する少なくとも2個の導電性素子(2201−2202)と、を備え、
前記加熱素子(2101−210n)の幅は放物線状の温度分布が該レンズ内(150)に発生するように変化する請求項1に記載の分散補償器。 - 前記複数個の加熱素子(2101−210n)は各々、前記熱光学レンズ(150)内で発生される屈折率のリップルが低減され、該レンズのレンズ強度がほとんど影響されないように該レンズ(150)内の所期の光ビーム軸に対して小さい角度傾けて形成されている請求項2記載の分散補償器。
- 前記加熱素子(2101−210n)に印加される電位を変化させることによって、前記熱光学レンズ(150)の屈折率は同調可能である請求項2に記載の分散補償器。
- 前記熱光学レンズ(150)の屈折率の前記同調は、前記分散補償器によって伝播光信号に対してなされる分散補償の量を同調する請求項4に記載の分散補償器。
- 増幅された自然放出光(ASE)を濾波するための波長可変フィルタ(140)を更にそなえた請求項1に記載の分散補償器。
- 前記波長可変フィルタは少なくとも1つの波長可変マッハツェンダー干渉計フィルタ(1421,1422,1423)を備えている請求項6記載の分散補償器。
- 偏波無依存を達成するためのサーキュレーター/偏波スプリッタ(160)を更に備えた請求項1に記載の分散補償器。
- 前記熱光学レンズ及び電気光学レンズの何れか一つは、該レンズのレンズ強度がほとんど影響されないように、該レンズ内で発生される屈折率リップルを低減するため前記第一導波路グレーティング(1101)の前記第二スターカプラ(1302)と前記第二導波路グレーティング(1102)の前記第二スターカプラ(1322)との間に、所期の光ビーム軸に対して小さい角度傾けて配置されている請求項1に記載の分散補償器。
- 分散補償器であって、
導波路グレーティング(1101)を備え、該導波路グレーティングは各々、
第一スターカプラ(1301)と、
経路の長さが増大する導波路のアレイであって、前記導波路のアレイの該各導波路の第一端が前記第一スターカプラ(1301)の第一端に光学的に結合された導波路のアレイと、
前記導波路のアレイの該各導波路の第二端が第二スターカプラ(1302)の第一端に光学的に結合されている第二スターカプラ(1302)と、
レンズ(150)の第一端が前記第二スターカプラ(1302)の第二端と光学的に結合されている、放物線状の屈折率分布を有する熱光学レンズ及び電気光学レンズの何れか一つ(150)と、
前記レンズ(150)を通って伝播する前記導波路グレーティング(1101)からの光信号が前記レンズ(150)を通って反射されて前記導波路グレーティング(1101)の方向に戻るように、前記レンズ(150)の第二端に光学的に結合されたミラー(710)と、を備えた分散補償器。 - 前記ミラー(710)は、ファセット上に反射性コーティングが被覆された前記分散補償器を備えた導波路チップの端部の研磨されたファセットである請求項10記載の分散補償器。
