Description
Hoganの米国特許第3853485号明細書には、通路パターンを有する接触酸化転化器のためのコア部材が開示されている。この部材は、当該部材の軸線方向の長さより実質的に大きい直径を有する。
Claims (24)
- セラミック充填要素(1)であって、当該要素の長さ(L)を規定する方向における対称平面と、当該要素の径を規定する当該長さに垂直な最大寸法(D)とを含む多角形構造体(2)であり、当該径対当該長さの比が2.7〜4.5であること、当該要素は、当該要素を通り抜け、おのおのが第1断面積を有する複数の同一の第1通路(4)と、第1通路の一つの断面積よりも大きな断面積の少なくとも3個の第2通路(5)とを画定する複数の内部隔壁(3)を備え、第2通路の少なくとも一つは第1通路の一つの断面積の少なくとも4倍である断面積を有することを特徴とするセラミック充填要素(1)。
- 前記径対前記長さの比が3.0〜4.4であることを更に特徴とする、請求項1に記載のセラミック充填要素。
- 前記径対前記長さの比が3.5〜4.0であることを更に特徴とする、請求項2に記載のセラミック充填要素。
- 当該要素が少なくとも20個の第1通路(4)を含むことを更に特徴とする、請求項3
に記載のセラミック充填要素。 - 当該要素が少なくとも50個の第1通路を含むことを更に特徴とする、請求項4に記載のセラミック充填要素。
- 前記第2通路の数対前記第1通路の数の比が1:10〜1:1600であることを更に特徴とする、請求項1〜5のいずれか一つに記載のセラミック充填要素。
- 前記第2通路の数対前記第1通路の数の比が1:20〜1:60であることを更に特徴とする、請求項6に記載のセラミック充填要素。
- 前記第2通路の数対前記第1通路の数の比が1:30〜1:50であることを更に特徴とする、請求項7に記載のセラミック充填要素。
- 前記第2通路の断面積の総和対前記第1通路の断面積の総和の比が1:10〜1:4であることを更に特徴とする、請求項1〜8のいずれか一つに記載のセラミック充填要素。
- 複数の前記隔壁がそれぞれ、当該複数の隔壁のそれぞれの長さに沿って間隙をあけた位置で少なくとも二つの他の隔壁と交差することを更に特徴とする、請求項1〜9のいずれか一つに記載のセラミック充填要素。
- 前記多角形構造体が少なくとも5つの側面を有することを更に特徴とする、請求項1〜10のいずれか一つに記載のセラミック充填要素。
- 前記多角形構造体が6つの側面を有することを更に特徴とする、請求項11に記載のセラミック充填要素。
- 前記第1通路がそれぞれ三角形の断面を有することを更に特徴とする、請求項1〜12のいずれか一つに記載のセラミック充填要素。
- 前記第2通路がそれぞれ、複数の隣接する第1通路を組み合わせることにより形成される断面積に相当する断面積を有することを更に特徴とする、請求項1〜13のいずれ一つに記載のセラミック充填要素。
- 前記第2通路がそれぞれ、少なくとも6個の隣接する第1通路を組み合わせることによ
り形成される面積と同等の面積を有することを更に特徴とする、請求項14に記載のセラ
ミック充填要素。 - 前記3個の第2通路が互いから等距離にあることを更に特徴とする、請求項1に記載のセラミック充填要素。
- 前記3個の第2通路が当該要素の中心軸から等距離にあることを更に特徴とする、請求項1〜16のいずれか一つに記載のセラミック充填要素。
- 当該セラミックが、天然クレー、合成クレー、アルミナ、ゼオライト、コージェライト、ジルコニア、シリカ及びそれらの混合物からなる群から選択される材料から作製されることを更に特徴とする、請求項1〜17のいずれか一つに記載のセラミック充填要素。
- 当該充填要素中の隔壁の全てが第1及び第2の端部を含み、当該隔壁が少なくとも当該第1の端部に隣接する多角形構造体に接続されることを更に特徴とする、請求項1〜18のいずれか一つに記載のセラミック充填要素。
- 前記少なくとも一つの第2通路の断面が、6個の隣接する第1通路を分離する内部隔壁部分の除去により形成されるそれに対応することを更に特徴とする、請求項1〜19のいずれか一つに記載のセラミック充填要素。
- 流体流へ又はそれから熱を移動させることと流体相間で物質を移動させることの少なくとも一方を行う方法であって、
当該流体流を請求項1に記載のセラミック充填要素の床を通して流すこと、当該充填要素が当該熱を移動させることと、当該流体相間で当該物質の移動が起こる表面を提供することの少なくとも一方を行うことを特徴とする熱移動と物質移動の少なくとも一方を行う方法。 - 流体流へ又はそれから熱を移動させることが、
当該流体流を前記セラミック充填要素の床を通して流し、当該充填要素が熱を移動させ、前記少なくとも一つの第2通路が4個以上の隣接する第1通路を組み合わせることにより形成される断面に相当する断面を有し、それによって、前記より大きな通路がないことを除いて同等である充填要素の床をまたいでの圧力損失に比べて圧力損失を低下させること、
を含むことを更に特徴とする、請求項21に記載の方法。 - 前記充填要素が前記流体流と当該充填要素との間で熱を移動させることを更に特徴とする、請求項21記載の方法。
- 前記物質移動が流体相間で二酸化硫黄を移動させることを含むことを更に特徴とする、請求項21に記載の物質移動の方法。
