図1及び図2には、多重エネルギ型走査イメージング・システム、例えば多重エネルギ型マルチ・スライス計算機式断層写真法(MECT)イメージング・システム10が、「第三世代」CTイメージング・システムに典型的なガントリ12を含むものとして示されている。本書で用いられる多重エネルギ型計算機式断層写真法システムという用語は、エネルギ識別型CT(EDCT)システムも参照する。ガントリ12はX線源14を有しており、X線源14は、X線ビーム16をガントリ12の反対側に設けられている検出器アレイ18に向かって投射する。検出器アレイ18は、複数の検出器素子20を含む複数の検出器横列(図示されていない)によって形成されており、検出器素子20は一括で、患者22のような対象を透過した投射X線ビームを感知する。各々の検出器素子20は、入射X線ビームの強度を表わし従って対象又は患者22を透過する際のビームの減弱を推定するのに用いることのできる電気信号を発生する。X線投影データを取得するための一回の走査の間に、ガントリ12及びガントリ12に装着されている構成部品は回転中心24の周りを回転する。図2は、検出器素子20の単一の横列(すなわち検出器横列一列)のみを示している。しかしながら、マルチ・スライス検出器アレイ18は、一回の走査中に複数の準平行スライス又は平行スライスに対応する投影データが同時に取得され得るように検出器素子20の複数の平行な検出器横列を含んでいる。
本発明は、上述の原理を肺検査に応用する。明確に述べると、MECTシステム10を用いて本書に記載するようにしてCT画像を形成する。MECTシステム10で組織特徴評価を実行するのに用いることのできる手法は、再構成前解析、再構成後解析及びスカウト画像解析の三手法である。

- 放射線源(14)と、
放射線検出器(18)と、
前記放射線源及び前記放射線検出器に動作に関して結合されているコンピュータ(36)とを備えており、該コンピュータは、
患者の肺(22)の走査の第一のエネルギ・スペクトルに関するデータを受け取り、
前記肺の前記走査の第二のエネルギ・スペクトルに関するデータを受け取り、
第一の造影剤に関するデータを用いて第一の機能画像を形成し、
第二の造影剤に関するデータを用いて第二の機能画像を形成するように構成されている、多重エネルギ型計算機式断層写真法(MECT)システム(10)。 - 前記コンピュータ(36)はさらに、前記受け取ったデータのコンプトン及び光電分解を実行するように構成されている、請求項1に記載の多重エネルギ型計算機式断層写真法(MECT)システム(10)。
- 前記コンピュータ(36)はさらに、前記受け取ったデータの基底物質分解(BMD)を実行するように構成されている、請求項1に記載の多重エネルギ型計算機式断層写真法(MECT)システム(10)。
- 前記コンピュータ(36)はさらに、前記受け取ったデータの計算機式断層写真法(CT)差分解を実行するように構成されている、請求項1に記載の多重エネルギ型計算機式断層写真法(MECT)システム(10)。
- 前記コンピュータ(36)はさらに、前記受け取ったデータの対数減算分解を実行するように構成されている、請求項1に記載の多重エネルギ型計算機式断層写真法(MECT)システム(10)。
- 前記コンピュータ(36)はさらに、位置合わせした第一の画像と第二の画像との間でピクセル毎の比マップを生成するように構成されている、請求項1に記載の多重エネルギ型計算機式断層写真法(MECT)システム(10)。
- 前記コンピュータ(36)はさらに、前記肺のグレイ・スケール解剖学的画像へのオーバレイとしてカラーで前記比マップを表示するように構成されている、請求項6に記載の多重エネルギ型計算機式断層写真法(MECT)システム(10)。
