Description

Claims (4)
- 管を部材に冶金的に取り付けるための方法であって、
(a) 壁(20)を有する部材(18)を得る工程であって、該壁は、第1及び第2の両側部(22,24)を備え、該第1の側部(24)の上方に延在する部分押し出し部(26)を備え、該部分押し出し部は貫通孔(28)と前記壁に略垂直に整列された長さ方向軸(30)を有し、前記貫通孔は前記長さ方向軸と略同軸に整列されている、前記工程と、
(b) 前記部分押し出し部の角度に合致するテーパー端部(34)を有する管(32)を得る工程と、
(c) 前記工程(a)及び(b)の後、前記管が前記長さ方向軸と略同軸に整列し、前記テーパー端部が実質的に前記部分押し出し部のところで前記壁の前記第2の側部(24)と接触した状態で、前記管及び前記部材を配置する工程と、
(d) 前記工程(c)の後、前記テーパー端部において前記部分押し出し部に近接したところに前記管及び前記部材を通して環状抵抗溶接電流経路を形成し、前記テーパー端部を前記部分押し出し部内へと相対的に動かして該部分押し出し部に抗してこれを変形させ、溶接領域を形成し、該溶接領域は、前記テーパー端部の少なくとも一部と、前記部分押し出し部の少なくとも一部とを備える、工程と、
を備える、方法。 - 前記工程(d)では、前記部分押し出し部の形成箇所周面前で前記壁の第1の側部と接触する環状抵抗溶接式の第1の電極(38)と、前記管の内部に配置され、前記テーパー端部と接触する円柱抵抗溶接式の第2の電極(40)とを使用する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記第2の電極は、前記管のテーパー端部の角度と合致して該テーパー端部と接触するテーパー先端部(42)を有する、請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記工程(d)では、前記テーパー端部を前記部分押し出し部内へと相対的に動かし、該部分押し出し部に抗してこれを変形させるため、前記第2の電極を前記長さ方向軸に略平行に前記第1の電極内で相対移動する、請求項3に記載の方法。
