Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an electrochemical device such as a primary or secondary lithium battery, a dye-sensitized solar cell, an electric double layer capacitor, a display element, an electrodeposition bath, and an onium salt that can be used as a chemical synthesis medium.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Lithium primary batteries, lithium secondary batteries, electrolytic capacitors, electric double layer capacitors, electrochromic display elements that have been widely used in recent years, or dye-sensitized types that have been studied for various practical applications in the future As a non-aqueous electrolyte solution in an electrochemical device such as a solar battery, an electrolyte was dissolved in an organic solvent such as ethylene carbonate, propylene carbonate, dimethoxyethane, γ-butyrolactone, N, N-dimethylformamide, tetrahydrofuran, or acetonitrile. Solutions have been used. However, since the organic solvent used in these electrolyte solutions is volatile and is a dangerous substance itself, there are problems in long-term reliability, durability, and safety.
[0003]
Therefore, various proposals have been made to apply an onium salt that is liquid at room temperature as an electrolyte without using an organic solvent as the electrolyte. For example, an onium salt composed of a 1-methyl-3-ethylimidazolium cation and a bistrifluoromethanesulfonimide anion is liquid at ambient temperature and has been shown to exhibit high ionic conductivity (for example, Patent Document 1). reference).
[0004]
On the other hand, as an onium salt, an onium salt composed of a 5-azonia-spiro [4,4] nonane cation and a tetrafluoroborate anion is known, which is solid at room temperature.
[0005]
[Patent Document 1]
JP-A-8-259543 [0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, an onium salt composed of an imidazolium cation and an anion as described above has low reduction resistance, and when used in an electrochemical device such as an electrolyte of a lithium battery, it gradually decomposes according to use. There is a problem. On the other hand, an onium salt composed of a 5-azonia-spiro [4,4] nonane cation and a tetrafluoroborate anion has a high reduction resistance, but is a solid at room temperature and cannot be used for an electrochemical device.
[0007]
Accordingly, there has been a demand for an onium salt that is liquid at room temperature, has high ionic conductivity, and is excellent in reduction resistance.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above problems, the present inventors have studied various counter anions for onium salts having 5-azonia-spiro [4,4] nonane as a cation moiety. The salt has a lower melting point than the previously reported ammonium salt or phosphonium salt, and has a higher ionic conductivity than the known alkyl ammonium salt or phosphonium salt, which is even higher. New knowledge of having resistance to reduction was obtained. As a result of further studies, the present invention has been completed.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
In the onium salt of the present invention, the cation moiety has the following formula (VI)
[0013]
(In the formula, X is a nitrogen atom or a phosphorus atom, and n and m are each independently an integer of 4 to 6.)
It has the greatest feature in that it is a bicyclo-type cation represented by
[0014]
By using such a non-aromatic bicyclo type, an onium salt with high reduction resistance and high ionic conductivity is obtained. For example, it becomes an onium salt having a much higher ionic conductivity than that having an acyclic alkyl group such as a tetraethylammonium cation. Further, the reduction resistance is improved by about 1 V compared to a compound having an aromatic ring such as 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium cation.
[0015]
In the above formula, n and m are each independently an integer of 4 to 6, but it is preferable that both are 4 in order to obtain high reduction resistance.
[0016]
The anion moiety in the onium salt of the present invention has the following formulas (II) to (V),
R 1 —N —— R 2 (II)
(In the formula, R 1 is any group selected from a perfluoroalkyloxysulfonyl group or a cyano group, and R 2 is a perfluoroalkylsulfonyl group, a perfluoroalkyloxysulfonyl group, a perfluoroalkylcarbonyl group, or a cyano group. Wherein R 1 and R 2 are not the same group), an imide ion represented by:

A methide anion represented by
R 6 R 7 R 8 R 9 B - (IV)
(In the formula, R 6 , R 7 , R 8 and R 9 are all groups selected from a perfluoroalkylsulfonyl group, a perfluoroalkylcarbonyl group, a perfluoroalkyl group, a cyano group, and a halogen atom. However, R 6 , R 7 , R 8 and R 9 are not all the same group.)
A borate anion represented by
R 10 R 11 R 12 R 13 R 14 R 15 P − (V)
(Wherein R 10 , R 11 , R 12 , R 13 , R 14 and R 15 are all selected from a perfluoroalkylsulfonyl group, a perfluoroalkylcarbonyl group, a perfluoroalkyl group, a cyano group, or a halogen atom. (However, R 10 , R 11 , R 12 , R 13 , R 14 and R 15 are not all the same group.)

[0029]
The method for producing the onium salt of the present invention is not particularly limited, but a halogen salt of a bicyclo cation represented by the formula (VI) and an asymmetric anion represented by the formulas (II) to (V). And a method of manufacturing by salt exchange reaction (salt exchange method), a direct quaternization method of reacting an organic onium ion precursor and an asymmetric anion precursor, and the like. Among these, the salt exchange method is preferably used because of the ease of reaction.
[0030]
In the metal salt of the asymmetric anion used in the salt exchange method, examples of the metal that can be suitably used include alkali metals such as lithium, sodium, and potassium. Furthermore, a potassium salt is particularly preferably used because of the low hygroscopicity of the metal salt as a raw material.
[0031]
In the halogenated salt of the bicyclo cation used in the salt exchange method, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine can be used without particular limitation as the halogen, but chlorine, bromine and iodine are preferred because of the ease of salt exchange. Used for. In addition, halogens with the same period as the metal of the metal salt of the asymmetric anion (for example, chlorine for sodium and bromine for potassium) are selected because of the ease of removing inorganic salts by-produced after salt exchange. Is preferred.
[0032]
Salt exchange is generally performed in a solvent. The solvent is not particularly limited, but specifically described with examples, halogenated hydrocarbons such as chloroform and dichloromethane, ethers such as diisopropyl ether, diethyl ether, tetrahydrofuran, 1,4-dioxane, Ketones such as acetone and methyl ethyl ketone; esters such as ethyl acetate and isopropyl acetate; nitriles such as acetonitrile; alcohols such as methanol, ethanol, isopropyl alcohol and tert-butyl alcohol; amides such as dimethylformamide and dimethylacetamide; Mention may be made of organic solvents such as sulfoxides such as dimethyl sulfoxide and water. Among them, an asymmetric anion metal whose raw material is a solvent having a relative dielectric constant of 10 or more, such as acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, acetonitrile, methanol, ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, tert-butyl alcohol, dimethylformamide, dimethylacetamide, dimethyl sulfoxide, and water. Salts and organic cation halogen salts have high solubility and can be used preferably.
[0033]
The salt exchange reaction is not particularly limited, and can be performed under heating, cooling, pressurization, reduced pressure, and normal pressure. In general, the reaction proceeds sufficiently at normal pressure and at room temperature, and the reaction time. Also proceeds sufficiently within a few minutes to 10 hours. The concentration of the halogen salt of the bicyclo cation and the metal salt of the asymmetric anion in the salt exchange method is not particularly limited, and may be appropriately selected in consideration of the solubility in the solvent used. If the concentration is too low, the efficiency of the salt exchange reaction is poor. On the other hand, if the concentration is too high, the raw material may not be dissolved in the solvent. Therefore, it is generally 3 to 50% by weight, preferably 5 to 30% by weight. It is also efficient to use equimolar amounts of the cation halogen salt and the asymmetric anion metal salt.
[0034]
After performing salt exchange (ion exchange), the by-product inorganic salt is removed, and the target product may be isolated. For example, a method of removing the solvent after extracting the inorganic salt into the aqueous layer, a method of removing the solvent after precipitating and filtering the inorganic salt, and dissolving the inorganic salt and further crystallizing and filtering the target organic salt It can be suitably isolated by a method or the like. In addition, when the isolated organic onium salt contains moisture, it may be dried by performing concentration, azeotropic dehydration, or the like as necessary.
[0035]
Since the organic onium salt of the present invention thus obtained generally has a low melting point and high ionic conductivity, the electrolyte for primary and secondary Li batteries, the electrolyte for wet solar cells, the electrolyte for capacitors, and the electrochromic display It is suitably used for an element electrolyte, a plating electrolyte, a reaction solvent, and the like. It is also possible to construct electrochemical devices with good low-temperature characteristics by constructing electrochemical devices such as Li batteries, wet solar cells, capacitors, and electrochromic elements using such onium salt electrolytes. it can.
