多塵地向けの車両用エアクリーナの仕様の一つとして、プリクリーナを装備したものがある。
プリクリーナは、エアクリーナの吸気パイプ先端または中間部に取付けられるものであって、筒状内部に設けられたサイクロン翼により吸気した空気にサイクロン流を生じさせ、この遠心効果により、ダストあるいはミストなどの比重の重い異物を異物排出口に導くことによってエアクリーナの濾過機能の負荷を低減するものである(例えば、特許文献1を参照)。

一般地向けのエアクリーナの吸気側は通常の吸気パイプとしているため、多塵地向け仕様に変更するには、プリクリーナを別途付加するか、あるいは通常の吸気パイプをプリクリーナに交換しなければならず、部品数が増し、また仕様変更に応じた交換作業が面倒となっていた。

前記目的を達成するため、本発明のエアクリーナは、半割状をした筒部と、その下部に一体に成形され、かつ筒部に連通する集塵室とを備え、二つあわせによりエアインテイク用パイプとなるパイプ本体からなり、前記筒部内側には、前記集塵室に連通してプリクリーナ機能を付加するためのサイクロン翼が脱着可能に嵌合されたエアインテイク用パイプを備えるとともに前記筒部の後部側下部には、前記集塵室と隔壁を隔てて一体成形され、かつ筒部にチューニングパイプ部を介して連通した消音室を設けたことを特徴とする。
本発明では、サイクロン翼の付加の有無により、多塵地向けの仕様と、一般地向きの仕様に簡単に変更することができる。サイクロン翼を取り付けない場合には、集塵室がレゾネータを兼用することになる。しかも、本発明おいて、前記筒部の後部側下部には、前記集塵室と隔壁を隔てて一体成形され、かつ筒部にチューニングパイプ部を介して連通した消音室を設けたことにより、吸気消音機能も付加することができる。

また、本発明では、前記サイクロン翼の後流側において前記筒部の内側にはサイクロン流を外周側と中心部側に区画する内筒を設けたことにより、プリクリーナ機能を付加した場合における除塵効率が増すものとなる。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、本発明の好ましい実施の形態につき、添付図面を参照して詳細に説明する。図1,2は本発明にかかるプリクリーナを示すものである。

このプリクリーナ1は、合成樹脂成形体からなるもので、半割状をした筒部2と、筒部2の下部前部側に一体成形された同じく半割状の集塵室3と、集塵室3の後部に隔壁を介して一体に成形された同じく半割状の消音室4とを備え、これらを図2に示すように二つあわせで超音波溶着などの溶着手段により接合することでエアインテイク用のパイプ本体5が完成する。

筒部2は、その空気取入れ口から漸次大径化する前筒部2aと、その後部に連続し、かつ後述するエアクリーナケーシングの吸気側に接続する小径筒部2bとからなっており、前筒部2aの後端側下部と前記集塵室3とを連通孔部6を介して連通させている。また小径筒部2bの後部下面と前記消音室4とはチューニングパイプ部7を介して連通している。
