Description
【0001】

【0031】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a non-aqueous electrolyte battery, and more particularly to a non-aqueous electrolyte battery that can suppress an increase in internal resistance after discharging a part of the battery capacity.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, as a power source for various electronic devices, development of a small, lightweight and high energy density battery is desired. Under such circumstances, metallic lithium or lithium alloy is used as a negative electrode active material, and manganese dioxide or fluoride is used. Non-aqueous electrolyte batteries using graphite or the like as a positive electrode active material have come to be used.
[0003]
This type of battery has a drawback that the internal resistance of the battery increases when stored for a long period of time after being discharged from the initial state. In particular, when the battery capacity is stored for about 70% or more for a long period of time, the internal resistance is particularly increased. This is caused by the decomposition of the solvent component (especially the low boiling point solvent) in the electrolyte solution by the catalytic action of MnO 2 (Li) in the positive electrode active material generated during discharge, and then the decomposition product moves to the negative electrode side. Then, it is considered that an inactive film is formed by reacting with lithium on the surface of the negative electrode to prevent the movement of lithium ions. Such an increase in internal resistance impairs the reliability of the battery.
[0004]
In order to suppress such an increase in internal resistance, for example, an aluminum foil is pressure-bonded to the surface of the negative electrode made of metallic lithium to form a lithium-aluminum alloy layer, and an inactive film is formed on the negative electrode surface. A method of suppressing this is conceivable. According to this method, since the frequency with which the decomposed product comes into contact with lithium is reduced, the reduction reaction on the negative electrode surface is suppressed, and as a result, the increase in internal resistance can be suppressed. However, this method has a problem that it takes time for the alloying reaction and the surface of the formed alloy layer becomes fine powder, which may cause problems such as breaking through the separator.
[0005]
Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 1-124960 discloses a method of adding aluminum trifluoromethanesulfonate [Al (CF 3 SO 3 ) 3 ] to a non-aqueous electrolyte. According to this method, since the lithium-aluminum alloy layer can be formed on the surface of the negative electrode made of metallic lithium, an increase in internal resistance can be suppressed as described above. However, the battery to which this method is applied can suppress the increase in internal resistance for a certain period (several months), but has a problem that the internal resistance greatly increases after that period, and the improvement Was demanded.
[0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The present invention has been made in view of the above, and an object of the present invention is to provide a nonaqueous electrolyte battery in which the internal resistance does not increase greatly even if it is left for a long period of time from several months to several years after partial discharge.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above-mentioned problem, the invention described in claim 1 is a non-aqueous electrolyte battery comprising a negative electrode using metallic lithium or a lithium alloy as an active material, a positive electrode, and a non-aqueous electrolyte. The water electrolyte includes a lithium salt as a solute and at least one of aluminum salts represented by the following chemical formulas (1) to (3).
[0008]
[Chemical formula 2]
[0009]
If a lithium salt and the specific aluminum salt are used as solutes as in the above configuration, a lithium-aluminum alloy layer is formed on the negative electrode surface by the specific aluminum salt, and the ionic composition in the electrolyte is mainly lithium. An anion derived from an ion and a lithium salt and an anion derived from the specific aluminum salt. Therefore, even if the battery is left for a long time after partial discharge, the internal resistance of the battery does not increase greatly. The reason for this is not necessarily clear, but compared to the aluminum trifluoromethanesulfonate, the anion of the specific aluminum salt has a large number of electron withdrawing groups, so the degree of dissociation is high, and this anion is stable in the electrolyte. It's easy to do. For this reason, the aluminum ions dissociated from the aluminum salt move smoothly to the negative electrode surface, and a dense aluminum-rich alloy layer is formed. As a result, the formation of an inactive film is further suppressed. In addition, a synergistic effect is conceivable in which a stable anion derived from the specific aluminum salt suppresses decomposition of the electrolytic solution on the surface of the positive electrode.
[0010]
In addition, since the anion which arises from the said specific aluminum salt exists stably in electrolyte solution, more lithium ions contribute to a battery reaction. Therefore, the battery performance is not deteriorated by including a specific aluminum salt.
[0011]
The invention described in claim 2 is the invention described in claim 1, characterized in that the active material of the positive electrode is manganese dioxide.
[0012]
When manganese dioxide is used as the positive electrode active material, as described above, reactive MnO 2 (Li) is generated on the positive electrode side by discharge, but according to the present invention, an alloy layer is formed on the negative electrode surface. MnO 2 that the degradation of the solvents by (Li) is inert film reacts in contact with the negative electrode is formed can be prevented. Therefore, a nonaqueous electrolyte battery that suppresses an increase in internal resistance is obtained.
[0013]
The invention according to claim 3 is the invention according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the non-aqueous electrolyte contains a low-boiling solvent having a boiling point of at least 100 ° C. as a solvent.
[0014]
Since the low boiling point solvent having a boiling point of 100 ° C. or less is easily decomposed by reacting with MnO 2 (Li) or the like, the improvement effect of the present invention is high when such a low boiling point solvent having a boiling point of 100 ° C. or less is used. .
[0015]
The invention according to claim 4 is the invention according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the lithium salt has an anion different from the aluminum salt represented by the chemical formulas (1) to (3). It is a lithium salt.
[0016]
Even in the combination of the lithium salt and the aluminum salt as described above, the dissociation degree of the specific aluminum salt is not lowered, and aluminum ions are more smoothly used for forming the alloy layer with the negative electrode lithium. . Therefore, the battery can suppress an increase in internal resistance after storage.
[0017]
The invention according to claim 5 is the composition according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the aluminum salt represented by the chemical formulas (1) to (3) occupies the whole non-aqueous electrolyte. The ratio is 0.005 to 10% by mass.
[0018]
When the blending ratio of the specific aluminum salt is within the above range, a good quality alloy film is formed and the ionic composition in the electrolytic solution becomes appropriate, so that it is possible to effectively suppress an increase in the internal resistance of the battery. .
[0019]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Embodiments of the present invention will be described using a cylindrical lithium battery as an example with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a schematic cross-sectional view showing the configuration of this battery.
[0020]
As shown in FIG. 1, this battery includes a bottomed cylindrical outer can (negative electrode can) 1, a positive electrode 2 using manganese dioxide as an active material, a negative electrode 3 using metal lithium as an active material, and a polyethylene product. A spiral electrode body 5 formed by winding a separator 4 made of a porous film is accommodated. A sealing lid 7 also serving as a positive electrode terminal is caulked and fixed to the opening of the outer can 1 via an insulating
[0021]
Here, in the separator 4, LiCF 3 SO 3 and Al [N (CF 3 SO 2 ) 2 ] 3 are dissolved in a mixed solvent of propylene carbonate (PC) and 1,2-dimethoxyethane (DME). The nonaqueous electrolyte solution thus formed is impregnated.
[0022]
A lithium battery having the above structure was produced as follows.
[0023]
[Production of positive electrode]
First, manganese dioxide as a positive electrode active material and artificial graphite as a conductive agent were mixed at a mass ratio of 9: 1 to prepare a positive electrode mixture. Next, 5% by mass of a fluororesin (polytetrafluoroethylene) as a binder and water as a dispersion medium were added to this positive electrode mixture and mixed to prepare a slurry. Then, this slurry was applied to a positive electrode core made of an aluminum thin plate, and further compressed and dried to produce a positive electrode. Thereafter, a part of the positive electrode was peeled off, and a positive electrode current collecting lead plate made of stainless steel was joined to the positive electrode core exposed from the part by spot welding.
[0024]
(Production of negative electrode)
The metal lithium plate was cut into a predetermined size to produce a negative electrode. Thereafter, a negative electrode current collecting lead plate made of a nickel thin plate was pressure-bonded to a part of the negative electrode.
[0025]
[Preparation of non-aqueous electrolyte]
In an equal volume mixed solvent of propylene carbonate (PC) and 1,2-dimethoxyethane (DME), LiCF 3 SO 3 and Al [N (CF 3 SO 2 ) 2 ] 3 are 1: 1 (mass ratio). The non-aqueous electrolyte was prepared by dissolving the mixed solute so that the aluminum salt was 5% by mass (mixing ratio in the total electrolyte).
[0026]
[Production of battery]
First, the said positive electrode and the negative electrode were wound through the separator which consists of a porous film made from a polypropylene, and the spiral electrode body was produced. Thereafter, the spiral electrode body was inserted into a bottomed cylindrical outer can (negative electrode can), and the non-aqueous electrolyte was poured into the outer can. A cylindrical lithium battery (battery capacity: 1400 mAh, diameter: 17 mm, height: 33.5 mm) is obtained by caulking and fixing a sealing lid (positive electrode terminal) to the opening of the outer can through a polypropylene insulating gasket. ) Was manufactured.
[0027]
[Other matters]
In the above example, Al [N (CF 3 SO 2 ) 2 ] 3 was used as the specific aluminum salt, but the present invention is not limited to this, and is represented by the following chemical formulas (1) to (3). Various kinds of aluminum salts can be used. These may be used alone or in combination of two or more.
[0028]
[Chemical 3]
[0030]
Specific examples of the aluminum salt include Al [N (CF 3 SO 2 ) 2 ] 3 , Al [N (C 2 F 5 SO 2 ) 2 ] 3 , Al [N (CF 3 SO 2 ) (C 2 F 5 SO 2 )] 3 , Al [C (CF 3 SO 2 ) 3 ] 3 , Al [CCH 3 (CF 3 SO 2 ) 2 ] 3 and the like.
[0031]
The blending ratio of the aluminum salt in the entire electrolytic solution is preferably in the range of 0.005 to 10% by mass, particularly preferably 0.01 to 5 in consideration of the formation of the alloy film, the ionic composition of the electrolytic solution, and the like. It is the range of mass%.
[0032]
In addition to the specific aluminum salt, other aluminum salts that can be alloyed with lithium may be used in combination. For example, Al (CF 3 SO 3 ) 3 or the like can be used. If Al (CF 3 SO 3 ) 3 is used together with a specific aluminum salt, it is advantageous in terms of cost and production.
[0033]
In the above example, LiCF 3 SO 3 is used as the lithium salt, but the present invention is not limited to this. For example, LiN (CF 3 SO 2 ) 2 , LiN (C 2 F 5 SO 2 ) 2 , LiC (CF 3 SO 2 ) 3 , LiClO 4 , LiBF 4 , LiAsF 6 , LiPF 6 and the like can be used. These may be used alone or in combination of two or more.
[0034]
In addition to the above PC and DME, as the solvent for the non-aqueous electrolyte, for example, a high dielectric constant non-aqueous organic solvent having a dielectric constant (25 ° C.) of 20 or more, such as ethylene carbonate, butylene carbonate, γ-butyrolactone, etc. , Dimethyl carbonate, dioxolane, tetrahydrofuran, ethoxymethoxyethane, and the like can be used. These may be used alone or in combination of two or more.
[0035]
The nonaqueous electrolyte battery of the present invention is not limited to the structure shown in FIG. 1, and the positive electrode, the negative electrode, and the like are not limited to those described above. Examples of positive electrode active materials other than the above include lithium-containing metal oxides such as lithium-containing cobalt composite oxide, lithium-containing nickel composite oxide, and lithium-containing manganese composite oxide, and metal oxides such as niobium oxide and vanadium oxide. Alternatively, metal chalcogenides such as molybdenum disulfide can be used. Moreover, as a negative electrode active material other than the above, a lithium alloy such as a lithium-aluminum alloy can be used.
[0036]
【Example】
Next, the present invention will be described in more detail based on examples and comparative examples, but the present invention is not limited to the following examples.
[0037]
Example 1
As Example 1, a lithium battery manufactured by a method similar to the method described in the above embodiment was used.
[0038]
(Example 2)
A lithium battery was produced in the same manner as in Example 1 except that Al [C (CF 3 SO 2 ) 3 ] 3 was used as the specific aluminum salt.
[0039]
(Example 3)
A lithium battery was produced in the same manner as in Example 1 except that Al [CCH 3 (CF 3 SO 2 ) 2 ] 3 was used as the specific aluminum salt.
[0040]
(Example 4)
As a solute of the non-aqueous electrolyte, LiCF 3 SO 3 which is a lithium salt, Al [N (CF 3 SO 2 ) 2 ] 3 which is a specific aluminum salt, and Al (CF 3 SO 2 which is another aluminum salt ) 3 and in a mass ratio of 2: 2: using a mixing ratio of 1, and other certain aluminum salts using nonaqueous electrolyte solution obtained by dissolving such that the 3% by weight, as in example 1 Similarly, a lithium battery was manufactured.
[0041]
(Comparative Example 1)
As a solute of the non-aqueous electrolyte, a mixture of LiCF 3 SO 3 that is a lithium salt and Al (CF 3 SO 3 ) 3 that is another aluminum salt at a mass ratio of 1: 1 is used, and A lithium battery was produced in the same manner as in Example 1 except that the nonaqueous electrolytic solution in which the lithium salt was dissolved at 0.5 mol / liter was used.
[0042]
(Comparative Example 2)
As in Example 1, except that LiCF 3 SO 3 , which is a lithium salt, was used as the solute of the non-aqueous electrolyte, and the non-aqueous electrolyte in which the salt was dissolved to 0.5 mol / liter was used. Thus, a lithium battery was manufactured.
[0043]
About each lithium battery obtained in this way, 70% of the battery capacity was discharged, and then stored for 1 year at room temperature (20 ° C.). The internal resistance before storage, the internal resistance after 6 months storage, and the internal resistance after 1 year storage were measured, and the results are shown in Table 1 below.
[0044]
[Table 1]
[0045]
From Table 1 above, it was found that the battery using the specific aluminum salt together with the lithium salt suppressed the increase in internal resistance after 1 year storage compared to other batteries. Specifically, the internal resistance of Example 1 battery after 1 year storage was only 0.14Ω higher than that before storage, whereas Comparative Example 1 battery was 0.72Ω and Comparative Example 2 battery was 8%. As a result, it was found that the increase in internal resistance can be particularly suppressed by using a specific aluminum salt. Further, the battery of Comparative Example 1 only increased by 0.21Ω in internal resistance after storage for 6 months, but increased by 0.51Ω after storage for 6 months. 3 SO 3 ) 3 was found to increase the internal resistance abruptly.
[0046]
Therefore, it was found that a specific aluminum salt must be used to suppress an increase in internal resistance when stored for a long time after partial discharge.
[0047]
From the results of Example 4, it was found that even when a specific aluminum salt and Al (CF 3 SO 3 ) 3 were used in combination, an increase in internal resistance could be suppressed.
[0048]
【The invention's effect】
The present invention has a great feature in that a specific aluminum salt is used together with a lithium salt as a solute of the nonaqueous electrolytic solution. However, according to the present invention, the internal resistance is greatly increased even if stored for a long time after discharge. A non-aqueous electrolyte battery that does not perform can be provided.
