Description

TECHNICAL FIELD The present invention relates to a blackening preventing agent for preventing aluminum or aluminum alloy used in a cooling system of an internal combustion engine such as an engine from turning black in the antifreeze / coolant, and an antifreeze / cooling using the same. It relates to a liquid composition.
Background Art Metals such as aluminum, aluminum alloys, cast iron, steel, brass, solder, and copper are used in cooling systems for internal combustion engines such as engines. These metals are corroded by contact with water or air. In order to prevent corrosion of metals in these cooling systems, antifreeze compositions and coolant compositions containing corrosion inhibitors such as phosphates, silicates or amine salts have been proposed.
However, these corrosion inhibitors have the following drawbacks. That is, when the phosphate flows into rivers and the like, it causes eutrophication, and the BOD and COD in the water rises, causing algae to grow, resulting in the occurrence of red tide and slime.
In addition, phosphate reacts with hard water components contained in the coolant to cause precipitation, which reduces the corrosion prevention function of the coolant, and deposits accumulate to block the circulation path of the cooling system. Was causing the situation.
The amine salt has a drawback that it easily reacts with nitrite to produce nitrosamine, which is a carcinogenic substance. In addition, silicate is inferior in stability in antifreeze / coolant, and when heat and pH change or when other salts coexist, it is easily gelled and the corrosion prevention function is reduced. There was a bug.
Therefore, an antifreeze / coolant composition containing a carboxylic acid such as a hydrocarbon carboxylic acid as a corrosion inhibitor in place of the phosphate, amine salt, or silicate having the above-described problems has been proposed.
However, in this antifreeze / coolant composition, carboxylic acids instead of phosphates, amine salts or silicates have blackened the surface of aluminum or aluminum alloys in the antifreeze / coolant.
Among users, it is believed that when blackening occurs in aluminum or aluminum alloys, the corrosion of these metals is also progressing or will soon begin. However, in actuality, the blackening of the surface of aluminum or aluminum alloy has been caused by the formation of a passive film of aluminum oxide that exhibits black color on the surface of aluminum or aluminum alloy when carboxylic acids are in the antifreeze / coolant.
A passive film of aluminum oxide that exhibits a black color is preferable because it covers and protects the surface of aluminum or aluminum alloy and prevents the progress of corrosion. However, among users, the idea that there is a close relationship between blackening and corrosion is strong, and the anti-freezing / cooling liquid is unlikely to cause blackening in aluminum and aluminum alloys because of its poor appearance. The composition was “good”.
As a result of extensive research on prevention of blackening of aluminum or aluminum alloys, the present inventors have found that hydrocarbon dicarbonyl compounds are extremely effective in preventing blackening of aluminum or aluminum alloys. The present invention has been completed based on this finding.
DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION The present invention provides an anti-blackening agent for preventing aluminum or an aluminum alloy from turning black in antifreeze or cooling liquid, an antifreezing liquid composition using the same, and a cooling liquid composition. is there.
The anti-blackening agent of the present invention is an antifreeze / coolant composition that creates an antifreeze or coolant in which no phosphate, amine salt, or silicate is present in the solution, and carboxylic acids as corrosion inhibitors are present. Is preferably used. The anti-blackening agent of the present invention may be directly added as an anti-blackening agent directly into the antifreeze or cooling liquid, not as a component of the antifreeze / cooling liquid composition.
This blackening inhibitor is composed of a hydrocarbon dicarbonyl compound. Hydrocarbon dicarbonyl compounds prevent the surface of aluminum or aluminum alloys from blackening in the absence of phosphates, amine salts and silicates, and in antifreeze and coolants in the presence of carboxylic acids as described above. To do. The mechanism is not clear, but the hydrocarbon dicarbonyl compound forms a colorless, transparent, transparent aluminum oxide passive film on the surface of aluminum or aluminum alloy in the antifreeze or coolant containing carboxylic acids. It is thought to be from.
Examples of the hydrocarbon dicarbonyl compound having such an effect include glyoxal, pyruvaldehyde, acetylacetone, diacetyl, 2,3-pentanedione, 3-methyl-2,4-pentanedione, 2,4-hexanedione, 3 , 4-hexanedione, 2,4-heptanedione, 3,4-heptanedione, 3,4-octanedione, 2,4-octanedione, 3,5-octanedione, 4,5-nonanedione, 4,5 -Decanedione, 4,6-decanedione, 5,6-undecanedione, 5,7-undecanedione, 1,2-cyclohexanedione, methyl acetoacetate, ethyl acetoacetate, 2-acetylcyclopentanone, α-ethylcarbonyl- γ-butyrolactone, 2-propylcarbonylcyclopentanone, α-propyl Pyrcarbonyl-γ-butyrolactone, 2-butylcarbonylcyclopentanone, 2-butylcarbonyl-γ-butyrolactone, 2-acetylcyclohexanone, α-acetyl-δ-pentyrolactone, 2-ethylcarbonylcyclohexanone, α-ethylcarbonyl- Preferred examples include γ-pentyrolactone, 2-propylcarbonylcyclohexanone, α-propylcarbonyl-γ-pentyrolactone, 2-butylcarbonylcyclohexanone, α-butylcarbonyl-γ-pentyrolactone, and the like.
Among the hydrocarbon dicarbonyl compounds exemplified above, those having 4 to 12 carbon atoms are more preferable because they are inexpensive and easily available.
When this blackening inhibitor is applied to the antifreeze / coolant composition, the amount applied is arbitrary, but in order to obtain a sufficient blackening prevention effect, a range of 0.01 to 5.0% by weight is preferable. . When the amount is less than 0.01% by weight, sufficient blackening prevention effect, that is, it becomes difficult to form a colorless transparent aluminum oxide non-moving film on the surface of aluminum or aluminum alloy, and exceeds 5.0% by weight. Since a sufficient blackening prevention effect is obtained at 5.0% by weight, hydrocarbon dicarbonyl compounds exceeding 5.0% by weight have no meaning, and that amount is wasted. It becomes uneconomical.
Next, the antifreeze composition and the coolant composition (hereinafter referred to as the antifreeze / coolant composition) of the present invention will be described. The antifreeze / coolant composition of the present invention is a composition containing glycols as a main component and free of phosphates, silicates and amine salts. Examples of glycols include ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, 1,3 butylene glycol, hexylene glycol, diethylene glycol, glycerin, and the like, among which ethylene glycol or propylene glycol is particularly desirable.
This antifreeze / coolant composition contains an anti-blackening agent comprising a hydrocarbon dicarbonyl compound.
The content of the blackening inhibitor in the antifreeze / coolant composition is 0.01 to 5.0% by weight. When the content is less than 0.01% by weight, sufficient blackening prevention effect, that is, it becomes difficult to form a colorless and transparent aluminum oxide passive film on the surface of aluminum or aluminum alloy, and exceeds 5.0% by weight. In this case, since sufficient blackening prevention effect is obtained at 5.0% by weight, hydrocarbon dicarbonyl compounds exceeding 5.0% by weight have no meaning, and that part is wasted. It becomes uneconomical.
In this antifreeze / coolant composition, any one or more of hydrocarbon carboxylic acids, hydrocarbon dicarboxylic acids, or salts thereof are used as corrosion inhibitors in place of phosphates, amine salts or silicates. Can be further included.

As content of hydrocarbon carboxylic acid, hydrocarbon dicarboxylic acid, or those salts, the range of 0.1 to 10 weight% is preferable. When the content thereof is less than the above range, a sufficient corrosion prevention effect for metals, particularly iron and aluminum cannot be obtained. If the content is larger than the above range, the effect beyond the range cannot be obtained, which is uneconomical and further promotes the oxidative deterioration of the antifreeze / coolant, which is not preferable.
In addition to the above components, the antifreeze / coolant composition may contain triazoles and magnesium compounds. When the content is less than 0.001% by weight, a sufficient corrosion prevention function cannot be obtained. If it exceeds 5% by weight, the corrosion prevention function corresponding to the increased content cannot be obtained, which is uneconomical.
The antifreeze / coolant composition may further contain an antifoaming agent, a colorant and the like in addition to the above components, and other conventionally known corrosion inhibitors such as molybdate and tungstate. , Sulfates, nitrates, mercaptobenzothiazoles and alkali metal salts may be used.
Examples Preferred examples 1 to 3 of the antifreeze / coolant composition of the present invention shown in Table 1 below and a comparative example not containing a hydrocarbon dicarbonyl compound which is an essential component in the antifreeze / coolant composition of the present invention A metal corrosion test was conducted.
The metal corrosion test about the said Examples 1-3 and the comparative example was done based on prescription | regulation of JISK2234-1987 2 types. The antifreeze / coolant composition to be used for the test is diluted to 30 vol% with prepared water, and the test pieces of aluminum casting, cast iron, steel, brass, solder and copper are used for the metal to be tested. did. The results are shown in Table 2.
From Table 2, for each of the compositions of Examples 1 to 3 and the comparative example, a result excellent in corrosion resistance of the metal was obtained in light of JIS regulations. In addition, both had no abnormality in the appearance other than the aluminum casting. However, with respect to the appearance of the aluminum casting, although there was no abnormality in the compositions of Examples 1 to 3, the compositions of Comparative Examples had severe blackening, and the compositions of Examples 1 to 3 had an effect of preventing blackening. It was confirmed that there is.
