Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a process for producing an alkoxycarbonyl compound (particularly a methoxycarbonyl compound), and in particular, imidazole-4 useful as a photographic coupler, a photographic additive, a pharmaceutical, a dye and an agrochemical, or as an intermediate thereof. , 5-dicarboxylic acid diester (particularly imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid dimethyl ester).
[0002]
[Prior art]
Alkoxycarbonyl compounds, in particular, imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid diester compounds are useful as photographic additives, pharmaceuticals, dyes and agricultural chemicals, or as intermediates between them, and their production methods have been studied so far. I came.
[0003]
In general, alkoxycarbonyl compounds are: (1) dehydration condensation of carboxylic acid compounds and alcohols in the presence of an acid catalyst; (2) suitable condensing agents such as DCC (dicyclohexylcarbodiimide) and iodo-2-chloro-1-methylpyridinium. (Condensation of carboxylic acid compound with alcohol in the presence of (dehydrating agent), (3) Condensation of acid halide with alcohol, (4) Reaction of carboxylic acid compound with alkyl halide under base catalyst, etc. Can be synthesized. Among these methods, the method (2) is often unsuitable for industrial use because the condensing agent is expensive or it is difficult to remove by-products generated after condensation. In the method (3), when the acid halide (or carboxylic acid of the raw material) has a nucleophilic site in the molecule, the acid halide (or carboxylic acid of the raw material) reacts within the molecule or between molecules. Therefore, it is not preferable. Similarly, when the carboxylic acid compound molecule has a nucleophilic moiety, the method (4) is not preferable because an alkylation reaction (reaction between the nucleophilic moiety and an alkyl halide) other than the desired reaction proceeds.
[0004]
For the above reasons, for example, the method (1) is generally used for esterification of imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid. For example, HCl gas is blown into methanol and 35 to 40%. A method is known in which a hydrochloric acid / methanol solution is prepared and added to imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid (see, for example, Non-Patent Document 1). Also known is a method of synthesizing dimethyl ester and diethyl ester compounds by blowing hydrochloric acid gas into imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid under reflux of methanol or ethanol, respectively (for example, see Non-Patent Documents 2 and 3). .) However, these production methods are desired to be improved in terms of operability and yield.
Further, a method is known in which imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid is dissolved in 100% sulfuric acid, and then this solution is added to dry methanol and heated to synthesize a dimethyl ester (for example, Non-Patent Document 4). reference.). However, 100% sulfuric acid is difficult to obtain, and there is a problem that the reaction rate decreases when concentrated sulfuric acid, which is easily available, is used.
The dehydration condensation reaction between a carboxylic acid compound and an alcohol under an acid catalyst is basically a reversible reaction between esterification and hydrolysis, and it is important to remove the generated water in order to obtain an esterified product in a high yield. It is. However, in the case of methyl esterification in methanol, it is difficult to remove the water produced, which is a cause of difficulty in quantitatively proceeding methyl esterification under an acid catalyst.
[0005]
As described above, esterification (especially methyl ester) of a carboxylic acid compound, particularly a compound having a nucleophilic group other than carboxylic acid in the molecule such as imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid. Is often difficult. Therefore, development of a novel method for producing an alkoxycarbonyl compound which is highly versatile and excellent in terms of operability and yield has been strongly desired.
