BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a mass feeding apparatus with an intermediate conveyance unit that supplies paper to be imaged to an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine, a printing machine, a facsimile machine, and a printer. More specifically, the present invention relates to a mass feeding apparatus with an intermediate conveyance unit. The present invention relates to a connection mechanism to an image forming apparatus.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Among image forming apparatuses such as a copying machine, a printing machine, a facsimile machine, and a printer, in the case of an image forming apparatus such as a printing machine, particularly a stencil printing machine and an offset printing machine, unlike a copying machine, In order to use a plate, it is suitable for use in printing based on a plate produced from a single document, and in many cases, a large number of sheets are printed from a single document.
[0003]
A connection mechanism to an image forming apparatus of a mass feeding device with an intermediate conveyance unit capable of supplying a large amount of paper to be imaged to such an image forming apparatus such as a printing press is known (for example, patents).
The invention described in the specification of US Pat. No. 5,441,247 (Patent Document 1) is a method of taking out a piece of paper that has been cut and stacked (so-called sheet paper, also called “cut paper”, hereinafter referred to as “paper”) from a storage machine, and performing high-speed graphic printing The present invention relates to a method of supplying a device in conjunction with a machine. According to the present invention, with the recent increase in speed of printing presses and copiers, it is possible to supply low-cost devices that can be used with various types of machines, can be used with various machines, are portable, and have a large amount of paper. That's it.
[0004]
The invention described in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 10-45268 (Patent Document 2) relates to a technology that enables connection of a large amount of paper feeding devices regardless of the type of recording device provided with a manual feed tray.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the technique described in US Pat. No. 5,441,247 (Patent Document 1) has the following problems. In this regard, the main body paper feeding means and the main body paper feed separating means around the main body paper feeding section 104 (substantially the same as the embodiment of the present invention described later) disposed on the main body side of the

(2) Even when the sheet P runs out, the leading end portion of the intermediate transport unit (the free end portion placed on the main body paper feed table) always blocks the paper presence sensor even while the main body paper feed table is raised. Since the main body recognizes that “paper is present”, if a predetermined time has passed, it is determined that no paper will be received and a jam is displayed (because there is no means for transmitting information on the absence of paper to the main body).
(3) In addition, a load is applied to the connecting portion between the intermediate transport unit and the stacking unit, and there is a problem in durability.
(4) When the paper is transferred to the paper feed roller on the main body side, the cover is only about half of the intermediate conveyance section, so the paper is disturbed (for example, the influence of wind by a person or the wind of an air conditioner, etc.) As a result, the paper may move and jam during paper conveyance (especially easily occurs on paper with low stiffness).

[0013]
On the other hand, in the technique described in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 10-45268 (Patent Document 2), it is necessary to adjust the height of the intermediate conveyance unit and adjust the angle with respect to the main body sheet feeding table, so that the connection work is troublesome. In other words, since a large-sized sheet feed tray dedicated to a specific model built in the recording apparatus main body is dedicated to that model, it is attached after removing the normal sheet feed tray (the number of sheets loaded is about 1000 at most). The connection work was a work that could be said to be a major remodeling.
[0014]
Accordingly, the present invention has been made in view of the above-described circumstances, and provides a mechanism for connecting a novel large-volume sheet feeding device with an intermediate conveyance unit to an image forming apparatus by solving the above-described problems. The main purpose is to finally obtain the effects described later for each claim.

As a result, the free end of the shutter 71-2 swings counterclockwise in FIG. 9B around the fulcrum shaft 75-2, and is shown by a two-dot chain line in FIG. Occupied position without paper shown.
On the other hand, when the power to the solenoid 72-2 is cut off and the solenoid 72-2 is turned off, the plunger and the pin 72a2 swing substantially upward in FIGS. 9A and 9B by the urging force of the tension spring 73-2. As a result, the free end of the shutter 71-2 swings clockwise around the fulcrum shaft 75-2 in FIG. 9B and occupies the dummy position with paper indicated by the solid line in FIG. 9B. It becomes.

In other words, the control function of the first control device 85 (CPU 86) is that each sensor 50-1 is initialized when the conveyance of one sheet P onto each sensor 50-1 to 50-8 is completed. Based on the signal from .about.50-8, the paper size is judged, and the motors 33-1 to 33-3 are controlled so as to switch the paper conveyance control system of the respective conveyance rollers 32-1 to 32-3. In the present embodiment, the first to third motors 33-1 to 33-3, which are common stepping motors, are used, and therefore the sheet conveyance speeds of the first to third conveyance rollers 32-1 to 32-3 ( The change of the circumferential speed or the rotational speed is to change the frequency (pps: pulse per second) of pulses supplied to the first to third motors 33-1 to 33-3 by the control device 85 (CPU 86), that is, the pulse interval. Can be easily and accurately performed by changing the speed (acceleration if the pulse interval is narrowed, constant speed at a constant interval, and deceleration if the pulse interval is widened).

Next, based on FIG. 14, the principle control contents of the sheet conveyance operation in the
[0109]
First, as shown in FIG. 14A, since the rear end of the front sheet P1 does not pass through the second sensor 50-2, the leading end of the next sheet P2 is located at the most upstream in the sheet transport direction X. It stops at the position before being detected by the sensor 50-1. However, in this case, even after the leading edge of the next sheet P2 is detected by the first sensor 50-1, the next sheet P2 incorporates the inertia of the conveying roller corresponding thereto (the one-way clutch 61 as described above is incorporated. Therefore, it can be regarded as the inertia of the conveyance roller) and stop at a slow speed.
[0110]
Next, as shown in FIG. 14B, when the rear end of the front sheet P1 passes through the second sensor 50-2 (shielding / reflection → transmission of the reflection type sensor), the conveyance of the next sheet P2 is started. The next paper P2 is conveyed and advanced until the leading edge of the next paper P2 is detected by the second sensor 50-2. Whether the next sheet P2 is transported downstream in the sheet transport direction X and advances or stops depends on the positional relationship between the rear end of the previous sheet P1 and the third sensor 50-3 and the sheet size along the sheet transport direction X ( Hereinafter, it differs depending on “paper size”.
[0111]
As shown in FIG. 14C, when the rear end of the front paper P1 passes through the third sensor 50-3, the next paper P2 is shown in the same figure without reducing its speed (paper transport speed). As shown by the dashed line, the tip of the second sensor 50-2 can pass to reach the third sensor 50-3. However, when the rear end of the front sheet P1 does not pass through the third sensor 50-3, the next sheet P2 stops at the position of the second sensor 50-2 as shown by the solid line in FIG.
[0112]
As described above, in the present exemplary embodiment, the positions of the leading ends and the trailing ends of the front paper P1 and the next paper P2 are always detected by the sensors 50-1 to 50-8, and the rear end of the front paper P1 is detected. The sheet conveyance control method is switched so that the next sheet P2 can be sequentially conveyed without contacting the leading edge thereof. In other words, a preset sheet conveyance control pattern is selected from the

As specifically shown in FIG. 11, the detection of the sheet size in the present embodiment is performed by moving one sheet P onto each of the sensors 50-1 to 50-8 through an operation at the time of reset described in detail later. After the end of conveyance, that is, in FIG. 3, the one sheet P, that is, the leading end of the front sheet P1, is nipped by the nip portion between the main body

By the way, at the time of resetting, the longest DLY (double letter) size and A3Y size paper P in the paper transport direction X is on these sensors from the eighth sensor 50-8 to the first sensor 50-1 (strictly Is located below the sensor), it is determined that the maximum sheet length is reached when the eighth sensor 50-8 to the first sensor 50-1 are turned on. Further, the shortest B5T size paper P is positioned on these sensors from the eighth sensor 50-8 to the sixth sensor 50-6, so that the eighth sensor 50-8 to the
This is because, in the chart of FIG. 15, the conveyance stop state at the time of resetting the shortest paper P: B5T size in the embodiment is particularly 16 rpm or 30 rpm (the adhesive force of ink on the outer peripheral surface of the printing drum 115 shown in FIG. 1). When trying to realize at a printing speed on the lower side of the rotational speed of the printing drum 115 (which is also a paper conveyance speed corresponding to the peripheral speed) at the time of printing or trial printing for closely contacting the plate-making thermal stencil master, Since the sheet P is short, it is sandwiched and conveyed by any two sheet conveying means 30 (the

Next, as shown in FIG. 18B, the next paper P2 is conveyed while checking the rear end of the front paper P1 by two sensors between the fourth sensor 50-4 and the third sensor 50-3. Next, in step S13, it is determined whether or not the second sensor 50-2 is turned on based on the arrival position of the leading edge of the next sheet P2. When the second sensor 50-2 is off without the next sheet P2 being conveyed, the same determination processing operation is repeated (hereinafter, description of such a flow is omitted because it is obvious from the flowchart). If the second sensor 50-2 is on, the process proceeds to step S14.
In step S14, it is determined whether or not the front sheet P1 is conveyed and the fourth sensor 50-4 is turned off. When the 4th sensor 50-4 is OFF, it progresses to Step S15 and the 2nd motor 33-2 starts. Here, when the fourth sensor 50-4 remains on, the process proceeds to step S35, where it is determined that the front sheet P1 is not conveyed and the rear end is placed on the fourth sensor 50-4. The start of one motor 33-1 is stopped. Then, similarly to the above, it is determined whether or not the front sheet P1 is conveyed and advanced and the fourth sensor 50-4 is turned off (see step S36). When the fourth sensor 50-4 is off, the process proceeds to step S37, and both the first and second motors 33-1 and 33-2 are activated.
Steps S13 to S15 and Steps S35 to S37 described above are basic check patterns.
[0128]
Next, in FIG. 19A and step S16, it is determined whether or not the next sheet P2 is conveyed and the third sensor 50-3 is turned on. Here, when the next sheet P2 is transported and the third sensor 50-3 is turned on by the arrival of the leading edge, the process proceeds to step S17 shown in FIG. 22, and the previous sheet P1 is transported and the fifth sensor 50-5 is turned off. It is determined whether or not it has been done. Here, as shown in FIG. 20, when the front paper P1 advances and the trailing edge passes through the fifth sensor 50-5, the
Next, the first and second motors 33-1 and 33-2 are activated and rotated so as to rotate the first and second transport rollers 32-1 and 32-2 at the low paper transport speed switched in step S20. Start (see step S21).
[0129]
On the other hand, in step S17, the previous sheet P1 is not conveyed and the trailing edge is positioned on the fifth sensor 50-5, so that the next sheet P2 does not advance when the sensor 50-5 is on. Thus, both the first and second motors 33-1 and 33-2 are temporarily stopped (see step S18).
Next, the process proceeds to step S39, and the process from step S17 to step S19 is performed in the same manner as in the series of control processing operations from step S41 to step S41. Next, the process proceeds to step S42, and the sheet conveyance speed by the
Next, the first and second motors 33-1 and 33-2 are activated and rotated so as to rotate the first and second transport rollers 32-1 and 32-2 at the low paper transport speed switched in step S42. By starting, the next sheet P2 is conveyed (see step S43).
[0130]
The series of control processing operations from step S18 to step S21 described above represents a case where the leading edge of the next sheet P2 does not catch up with the trailing edge of the preceding sheet P1, and the “speed measurement section” shown in FIG. Or, it changes depending on the transport pattern).
A series of control processing operations from step S38 to step S43 represents a case where the leading edge of the next sheet P2 has caught up with the trailing edge of the preceding sheet P1, and the “speed measurement section” shown in FIG. It shows that it varies depending on the transport pattern.
[0131]
Next, the process proceeds to step S22 shown in FIG. 23, and it is determined whether or not the next sheet P2 is conveyed and the fourth sensor 50-4 is turned on. Here, when the next sheet P2 is transported and the fourth sensor 50-4 is turned on by the arrival of the leading edge, the process proceeds to step S23, where the preceding sheet P1 is transported and the trailing edge passes through the sixth sensor 50-6. It is determined whether or not the sensor 50-6 is turned off. When the front sheet P1 is transported and the trailing edge passes through the sixth sensor 50-6, the process proceeds to step S24, where the next sheet P2 is transported and the leading edge reaches the fifth sensor 50-5 and the sensor 50-. It is determined whether 5 is turned on.
[0132]
On the other hand, in step S23, when the front sheet P1 is not conveyed and the trailing edge is on the sixth sensor 50-6, that is, when the sensor 50-6 remains on, the next sheet P2 advances. First, the first and second motors 33-1 and 33-2 are temporarily stopped so as not to occur (see step S 44). Next, the process proceeds to step S44, and when the front sheet P1 is transported and the trailing edge is yes after passing through the sixth sensor 50-6, the first and second transport rollers 32-1 and 32-2 are rotated. The second motors 33-1 and 33-2 are started and started (see step S46).
[0133]
Next, the process proceeds to step S25 in FIG. 24, where it is determined whether or not the front sheet P1 has been conveyed and the trailing edge has passed through the seventh sensor 50-7 and the sensor 50-7 has been turned off. When the front sheet P1 is transported and the trailing edge has passed through the sixth sensor 50-6, the process proceeds to step S26, and the first motor 33-1 is temporarily stopped. This stops the first motor 33-1 because the leading edge of the next paper P2 has already reached the second transport roller 32-2 and has passed over the roller 32-2.
[0134]
On the other hand, in step S25, when the front sheet P1 is not conveyed and the trailing edge is on the sixth sensor 50-7, that is, when the sensor 50-7 remains on, the next sheet P2 advances. First, the first and second motors 33-1 and 33-2 are temporarily stopped so as not to occur (see step S 47). Next, the process proceeds to step S48, and when the front sheet P1 is transported and the trailing end is yes when the seventh sensor 50-7 is passed, the second motor 33-2 is started so as to rotate only the second transport roller 32-2. -Start (see step S49).
[0135]
Next, the process proceeds to step S27, and it is determined whether or not the next sheet P2 is conveyed and the sixth sensor 50-6 is turned on. Here, when the sixth sensor 50-6 is turned on when the next sheet P2 is transported and reaches the leading edge, the process proceeds to step S28, where the preceding sheet P1 is transported and the trailing edge passes through the eighth sensor 50-8. It is determined whether or not the sensor 50-8 is turned off. When the front sheet P1 is transported and the trailing edge passes through the eighth sensor 50-8, the process proceeds to step S29, and the third motor 33-3 is started and started so as to rotate the third transport roller 32-3 ( (See step S29).
On the other hand, in step S28, when the front sheet P1 is not conveyed and the trailing edge is on the eighth sensor 50-8, that is, when the sensor 50-8 remains on, the next sheet P2 advances. The second motor 33-2 is temporarily stopped so as not to occur (see step S50). Next, the process proceeds to step S51, and when the front sheet P1 is transported and the trailing edge is yes after passing through the eighth sensor 50-8, the second and third transport rollers 32-2 and 32-3 are rotated so as to rotate. Then, the third motors 33-2 and 33-3 are activated and started (see step S52).
[0136]
Next, the process proceeds to step S30, and it is determined whether or not the next sheet P2 is conveyed and the eighth sensor 50-8 is turned on. Here, when the next sheet P2 is transported and the eighth sensor 50-8 is turned on by the arrival of the leading edge, the process proceeds to step S31 and both the second and third motors 33-2 and 33-3 are stopped. .

(5) By arranging a large number of (paper) sensors, it is possible to determine the paper size by detecting between which sensor the trailing edge position of the paper is stopped. Further, in order to always keep the distance between sheets (detected so as not to contact), it is necessary to arrange a large number of sensors, and the larger the number, the more secure the distance between sheets.
(6) In order to secure the sheet feeding amount, the control is simplified by using stepping motors that can accurately feed the sheet moving distance for the first to third motors 33-1 to 33-3. Further, since the number of pulses supplied to the stepping motor and the time for passing between the sensors can be compared to determine how much the paper has slipped, more accurate paper feeding can be performed.

As described above, the present invention has been described with respect to specific embodiments including examples. However, the configuration of the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments, and may be configured by appropriately combining them. [0162]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, it is possible to provide a connection mechanism to a new large-volume sheet feeding device with an intermediate conveyance unit to an image forming apparatus by solving the above-mentioned problems of the conventional apparatus. The effects for each claim are as follows.
According to the first aspect of the present invention, the main body sheet feeding unit occupies the sheet feeding position in conjunction with the movement of the mass feeding device with the intermediate conveyance unit to the connection position by the displacement unit included in the intermediate conveyance unit. Since the detected means is displaced so as to occupy the paper feed detection position, the main body paper feed means always occupies the paper feed position when the mass feeding device with the intermediate conveyance unit occupies the connection position. The paper feed position detection means always occupies the paper feed detection position, and it is possible to pass the paper without raising the main body paper feed stand and without the troublesome operation of manually operating the detected means. Can be realized. Therefore, unlike the conventional example, the paper is not supplied from the intermediate transport unit while the main body paper feed table is raised. For example, the front end of the paper hits the front plate of the main body paper feed unit and the paper The tip is not scratched, and the durability is improved because there is no influence of the load fluctuation due to the repetitive rise of the main body sheet feed base of the intermediate transport unit.
[0163]
According to a second aspect of the present invention, the displacement means is a sheet conveying direction in the lower guide member that contacts the main body paper feed roller at the lowered position of the main body paper feed roller and below the rotation center of the main body paper feed roller. By including the abutting portion provided at the downstream end of the image forming apparatus, the main body feeding roller is rotated to occupy the feeding position by the movement of the mass feeding device with the intermediate conveying portion to the connection position to the image forming apparatus. While being able to be displaced in the direction, the effect of the invention of
[0164]
According to a third aspect of the present invention, the displacement means includes the detected guide member that displaces the contact side of the detected means with the paper so as to be positioned above the upper guide member. The leading edge of the sheet fed from the sheet does not abut on the detected means (for example, the sheet abutting portion of the sheet feeding filler forms a half moon), so that stable conveyance quality can be obtained, and
[0165]
According to the invention of
[0166]
According to the fifth aspect of the present invention, the displacing means includes the most downstream conveying roller that displaces the main body sheet feeding roller so as to occupy the sheet feeding position. The sheet can be reliably transferred to the main body sheet feed roller while being conveyed more accurately by the intermediate conveyance unit, and the effect of the invention according to any one of
[0167]
According to the sixth aspect of the present invention, the height of the intermediate conveyance unit is maintained by filling the distance from the main body paper feed stand to the lower part of the housing in a state where the mass feeding device with the intermediate conveyance unit occupies the connection position. In addition to the effect of the invention according to any one of
[0168]
According to the seventh aspect of the present invention, the height holding member also serves as a member that protects at least one of the paper presence / absence detection shutter mechanism and the paper length detection shutter mechanism. In addition to the above effect, it is possible to reduce the number of parts by making common.
[0169]
According to the eighth aspect of the present invention, a sheet-like high friction member for sending the final sheet on the main body sheet feeding base in a state in which friction is ensured on the downstream side in the sheet conveying direction on the main body sheet feeding base. Since the portion of the height holding member facing the high friction member escapes so as not to interfere when the mass feeding device with the intermediate conveyance unit moves, the image of the mass feeding device with the intermediate conveyance unit is disposed. When moving to the connecting position to the forming apparatus, the high friction member can be smoothly moved without being caught and damaged.
[0170]
According to the ninth aspect of the present invention, when the intermediate conveyance unit is placed on the main body sheet feeding table held at a predetermined height, the lower part of the intermediate conveyance unit, the lower part of the housing, or the height is maintained. Since a roller that contacts and rolls with the main unit paper feed base is provided at the bottom of the member, the operation / insertion work when moving to the connection position to the image forming apparatus of the large-volume paper feeder with an intermediate transport unit is lightened, and The main unit paper tray is not scratched.
[0171]
According to the tenth aspect of the present invention, when the mass feeding device with the intermediate conveyance unit occupies the connection position by the holding means, the detected means is always held at the paper feed detection position. As in the conventional example, the paper is not supplied from the intermediate transport unit while the main body paper feed table is raised, and therefore, for example, the front end of the paper hits the front plate of the main body paper feed unit and the paper The tip is not scratched, and the durability is improved because there is no influence of the load fluctuation due to the repetitive rise of the main body sheet feed base of the intermediate transport unit.
