【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかし、電縫管の溶接部のビード部を含む端面の総型加工を刃先交換式工具で行う場合、切れ刃の損傷を受ける部分は、ビード部を加工する部位で生じる確率が高くなる等の課題がある。本発明は、総型加工の対応する被切削面の状態に対応して切れ刃部分に刃先強度の強い刃先交換式インサートを提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記目的を達成するために、電縫管の溶接ビード部を含む端面の総型加工に用いる刃先交換式スローアウェイインサートにおいて、該インサートは4角形板状の3コーナー部はそのまま、他の1コーナー部に略1/4円状の円弧傾斜側面とこれに角度α及び角度βで連なる直線状傾斜側面とを設け、これらとインサート上面とが交叉して形成される切れ刃部にネガホーニングを施し、角度αで連なる直線状切れ刃部に、該円弧状切れ刃部から遠ざかるに従いホーニングを拡げるように設けたことを特徴とするスローアウェイインサートである。

【発明の実施の形態】
発明の実施の形態を添付図面を参照して説明する。添付図面は本発明に係るインサートの実施の形態を示す。図1に示す本発明例のスローアウェイインサート1は、4角形板状の3コーナー部はそのまま生かし、他の1コーナー部に総型の形状である略1/4円状の円弧傾斜側面とこれに角度α及び角度βで連なる直線状傾斜側面とを設けている。工具としてセットされた時には、パイプの端面の総型加工を行う際に、略1/4円状の円弧状部がパイプ外径側のR面取りとなり、パイプの外径部の加工に角度αの直線状切れ刃が、パイプ端面側の加工に角度βの直線状切れ刃が各々対応する。

図1に示すインサートは、超硬合金JIS、K10相当材種で製作し、TiAlN膜を被覆して用いた。電縫管端面の総型加工を、パイプ外径部の一部にはビードを付いている状態で切削試験を実施した。また、比較例として、切れ刃3のホーニングを一定とした例も試験した。電縫管端面の総型加工を行い、本発明例では、パイプの外径部を切削する角度αで連なる直線状切れ刃部3に損傷がなく、切れ刃の欠け、チッピングが減少し、寿命が長くなり、切削面の面粗度が所定に維持されいていた。また、比較例では、角度αで連なる直線状切れ刃部3のホーニング幅を広げていないため、チッピングが生じ、チッピング部より大きな欠けが発生し、寿命となった。

本発明を適用することにより、溶接ビード部を含むパイプ端面の総型加工に用いるインサートで、溶接ビード部を切削する切れ刃のホーニングを漸次拡げるように設けることにより、切削負荷を増大させることなく、切れ刃の欠け、チッピングが減少し、寿命を大幅に延すことが出来た。
