車両を後退させる時、後方を完全に目視することは不可能であり、経験と勘により障害物等を察知していた。ところが、大型の箱形トラックの場合のように車両後端までの距離が長い場合は、運転者が経験豊富であってもこの作業は困難であった。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、前者の装置においては費用が嵩むという問題があった。又、撮影された映像は運転席前方に設置されたモニターにより視認するが、この作業は振り向いたりバックミラーにより後方を肉眼で目視するという本来的な確認作業と両立せず、機械任せにした場合、障害物がカメラの死角に存する場合には取り返しのつかない危険を招来するおそれがあった。

一方、後者の装置においてはやはり費用が嵩むという問題があるほか、検出されるのはあくまでも障害物なので、後方の溝や崖を検出したり、地面に付された駐車位置表示を検出することはできないという問題があった。

【課題を解決するための手段】
この発明は以上の従来技術の問題点に鑑みて創作されたものであり、振り向いたりバックミラーにより後方を肉眼で目視するという本来的な確認作業を前提として、これを支援する装置を提供することを目的とする。

即ち、この発明の後方確認支援装置は、車両に設けた投光器より、車両の後端の角位置を示す表示を地面に投光することを特徴とする。

よって、この発明によれば車両の後端の角位置を示す表示が地面に投光されるので、乗用車のように運転席から死角になって見えなかったり、箱型トラックのように見えたとしても距離感を掴みにくい車両の後端の角位置を地面との対応において視認できるので、後退にあたり運転者は運転席の左右のサイドミラー及び目視により車両左右後端の角位置、及ぴ車両以外の他の対象物との関係を容易に確認出来る作用が得られる。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、この発明の具体的実施例を添付図面に基づいて説明する。図1及び図2はこの発明の第1実施例を示す図である。図中符合1はこの発明の支援装置を構成する投光器であり、この実施例においては車両(ここでは箱型のトラックを例示)Tの後端の左右に一対設けられ、それぞれの角位置T1、T1を示す表示L1、L1を地面に投光する。この実施例においては角位置を示す表示L1は直線状のものを想定しており、この直線は車両T後端の角位置T1からの垂線と地面との交点を起点とし、車両の幅方向外側に向かう(図2参照)。又、図示しないが直線は車両の前後方向の後側に向かってもよい。

次に、図5乃至図9に上記の表示L1を地面に投光することを可能とする投光器1の一例を示す。この投光器1はケース2内に光源(ここではランプを想定)4及び集光反射鏡5を内蔵し、更にレンズ6を配したものである。尚、図中符合3は車両への取り付け金具、同じく7は電線接続孔である。この投光器1においては、集光反射鏡5の集光取り出し口を縦と横の直径の比率を数倍に取った扁平の形状とし、その光源4の直射光及び反射光を1直線として取り出し、更に集光取り出し口にその光東を直線方向のみに拡大放光させるレンズ6を設けている。この実施例においては、上記の投光器1は車両のバックランプと同時に点灯して、地面に表示L1、L1を投光表示する構成としている。

次に、図10及び図11に上記の表示L2を地面に投光することを可能とする投光器10の一例を示す。この投光器10はケース12内に光源(ここではランプを想定)14及び集光反射鏡15A、15Bを内蔵し、更にレンズ16A、16Bを配したものである。尚、図中符合13は車両への取り付け金具、同じく17は電線接続孔である。この投光器10においては、集光反射鏡15Aと15Bの2個を光源14を中心に直交に組み合わせており、その光源の直射光及び2個の集光反射鏡の反射光を直交2直線として取り出し、更に集光取り出し口にその直交2直線の光東をその直線方向のみに拡大放光させる直交に組み合わせたレンズ16Aと16Bを設けている。

図4はこの発明の第3実施例を示す図である。この実施例においては角位置を示す表示L3は点状のものであり、この表示は車両T後端の角位置T1からの垂線と地面との交点に投光される。

以上の各実施例における支援装置の使用にあたっては、後退時に投光器より車両後端の角位置T1の表示を地面に投光表示して、後ろを振り向くか、運転台左右のサイドミラーM、Mを使用して地面上の表示を目視することにより、車両左右後端の角位置及び車両以外の他の対象物との関係を確認する。

尚、以上の実施例においては投光器の表示を投光するための手段はそこに記載のものに限定されないことは勿論であり、例えば表示すべき像を施したスライド等の原板を用いて投影像を地面に投光してもよく、又、光源としてレーザを使用してもよい。特に光源にレーザを用いた場合は、ランプを用いた投光器においては昼間時の使用に際して直射日光の照度より高い高出力のものを用いないとならないのに対し、赤色光であることより比較的低出力のものであっても目視できる利点を得られる。又、光束が拡散しないレーザ光の特徴より、ランプを用いた投光器のように設置位置が車両の後端の下部に限定されず、例えば車両前方に設置することも可能となる。

【発明の効果】
以上の構成よりなるこの発明は次の特有の効果を奏する。
(1) 従来技術の後方確認支援装置のように確認を機械任せにするのではなく、あくまでも後退時の運転の基本である振り向き又はバックミラーによる目視を基本としてそれを支援する装置なので、人間工学的に無理がない。
(2) 従来技術の後方確認支援装置のような電子装置を使用しないので、低コストで効果的な支援装置を提供することが可能となる。
(3) 地面に表示を投光する構成なので、障害物を検出する形式の後方確認支援装置では不可能であった、車両後方の溝や崖や、地面に付された駐車位置表示の検出も可能となる。
(4) 第1実施例における1直線表示によれば、車両左右後端の角位置の表示のみならず、車両背面の延長線上の表示も行われ、運転者にとって車両背面の距離感が掴みやすく、非常に重要な表示となる。
(5) 第2実施例における直交2直線表示によれば、左右の車両以外の他の対象物との関係、及び車両後方の車両以外の他の対象物との関係も確認出来て運転者にとってより効果的な表示となる。
