Description
そこで、骨材表面にアスファルトをコーティングしたものとベントナイトを混合した遮水材が提案されている(例えば、特許文献1参照)。
この周辺岩盤と密閉容器との間で使用されているベントナイト遮水材は、所定の透水係数以下となるように施工されなければならない。その施工方法として、工場にて締固められたブロックを作製し、設置する手法と、現場にて遮水材の締固めを行う手法の二種類が考えられている。
このような遮水材(緩衝材)として、ベントナイト、バーミキュライト等と微細なクラックを持つ溶結凝灰岩さらには鉱物質微粉末(フライアッシュ等)等を混合使用する例があり、その透水係数は10−6〜10−7cm/秒である(例えば、特許文献2参照)
また、宅地造成等において、セメント、ベントナイト、水ガラス系、高分子系物質等の注入材で遮水壁を形成する方法がある。
そこで、本発明は、粉立ちを低くすることができ、締固めが容易で、動的に締固めを行うことで、ベントナイト配合率100%であっても好ましい乾燥密度と透水係数を得ることができる優れた難透水性構造用ベントナイト遮水材を用いた、締固めが容易であり、且つ締固め後に優れた止水性を有する遮水構造体およびその施工方法を提供するものである。
すなわち
(1)塑性限界が10〜35%で、粒径を20mm以下に調製した難透水性構造用粒状ベントナイト遮水材を含有する材料を締固めてなり、透水係数10 −11 cm/秒のオーダー以下の遮水構造体、
(2)前記遮水構造体が、産業廃棄物もしくは放射性廃棄物の地中処分の際の遮水構造体または造成地の遮水構造体であることを特徴とする(1)記載の遮水構造体、
(3)塑性限界が10〜35%で、粒径を20mm以下に調製した塑性限界が10〜35%で、粒径を20mm以下に調製した難透水性構造用粒状ベントナイト遮水材を、締固めエネルギー20cm・kgf/cm3以上で締固め、最大乾燥密度1.5g/cm3以上で且つ透水係数10 −11 cm/秒のオーダー以下とすることを特徴とする遮水構造体の施工方法、および、
(4)締固め時の難透水性構造用粒状ベントナイト遮水材の含水比を15%以上25%未満とすることを特徴とする(3)項記載の遮水構造体の施工方法、
を提供するものである。
なお、「塑性限界」は、土が塑性体から半固体の状態に移る境界の含水比であり、JIS A 1205により測定される。
本発明では、ベントナイト遮水材に求められる性質として、締固めて遮水構造体とした後、その遮水構造体が10−11cm/秒オーダー以下の透水係数を有し、且つ1.0以上の膨潤圧、乾燥時体積収縮率2.0%以下、含水比7%での熱伝導率1.0W/mK以上を示すものである。そして、最大乾燥密度が1.5〜2.0g/cm2となるような締固めができることが必要である。この最大乾燥密度とは、ベントナイトの締固め時の含水比と乾燥密度との関係を図示したときに描かれる曲線の極大値における乾燥密度である。そして、その最大乾燥密度におけるベントナイトの含水比を最適含水比という。
本発明に用いられる塑性限界が上記範囲内にあるベントナイト遮水材は、その範囲内にある塑性限界を有するベントナイト原鉱石を乾燥し、粗砕・篩い分けにより得られる。
本発明の難透水性構造体用粒状ベントナイトは、その粒径を幅広くとることができ、粒径20mm以下に調整するが、好ましくは10mm以下、より好ましくは2mm以下にするのがよい。しかし、細かすぎると、やはり搬送や施工時の粉立ちの原因となるため、一般に0.6mm以上、好ましくは1.6mm以上とするのがよい。また、粒径が大きすぎると、施工時に含水比調節をした際に、粒子によって含水比に違いが生じるため、目標とする乾燥密度へ締固めるのに過大なエネルギーを必要としたり、場合によっては締固めが不可能となる。
この遮水構造体は、放射性廃棄物の地層処分における坑道周辺の岩盤と密閉容器との間の遮水層もしくは廃棄物の最終処分場の遮水層等であり、また、造成地の遮水構造体である。あるいは、この遮水構造体は、前記のようにブロック状の構造体でもあり、これを前記の遮水層等の適用場所に用いる。
〔実施例1〕
難透水性粒状ベントナイトの調製
山形県月布産2種類(試料名T1,T2)及び米国ワイオミング州産1種類(試料名W1)のベントナイト原鉱石を使用した。含水比が10%〜20%である各ベントナイト原鉱石を破砕機で粗砕し、乾燥用キルンで110℃において含水比6±1%となるまで乾燥させた後、篩い分けによりそれぞれ粒径10mm以下、2mm以下、1.6〜10mmの3種類の粒度に調整した。各原鉱石の粉砕乾燥試料の物理・化学特性を表1に示す。
締固め試験はJIS A1210に従って、各試料各粒度の粒状ベントナイトの含水比をアイリッヒミキサーにより5〜30%の間で4〜6水準に調整して、1000cm3のモールド、4.5kgfランマーを用いて1層当たり25回突き、全5層の突き固めで行った。締固めエネルギーは25cm・kgf/cm3である。締固まった体積と投入質量とから、各試料の各粒度での最適含水比と最大乾燥密度を求めた。
この試験の結果、各試料の各粒度で得られた最大乾燥密度および最適含水比を次の表2に示す。
各試料の各粒度の透水試験用供試体は、締固め時含水比(T1,T2,W1それぞれ18%,16%,20%)に調整されたサンプルを、1000cm3モールド内で最大乾燥密度となるように動的に締固めたものを使用した。供試体のサイズは直径10cm、高さ2cmである。動水勾配2000以下の条件で注水を行った。得られた結果を表3に示す。この結果、塑性限界が35%付近で、乾燥密度が1.6g/cm3よりも若干小さい値(試料W1)であっても、透水係数10−11cm/秒のオーダーをクリアできる。従って、粒状ベントナイトを充分に締固めることができ、所定の範囲の透水係数を得るには、塑性限界は10〜35%、好ましくは20〜30%であり、粒径は20mm以下、好ましくは10mm以下である。そして、締固め時含水比は15%〜25%、より好ましくは最適含水比であるのが適当である。
原鉱石の塑性限界が39%の粒状ベントナイト(米国ワイオミング州産:試料名W2)および塑性限界が38%の粒状ベントナイト(米国ワイオミング州産:試料名W3)を上記実施例1と同様の手法で各粒度の試料を調整し、同様に締固め試験を行った。使用原鉱石の基本特性を表4に、締固め試験の結果を表5に示す。この結果から、塑性限界が38%を超えると、締固めが不可能であり、塑性限界が38%であれば締固めは可能となるが、目標の最大乾燥密度1.5g/cm3には締固めができなかった。締固めが可能であった試料W3は熱伝導率や膨潤圧の点で満足な値が得られなかった。
Claims (4)
- 塑性限界が10〜35%で、粒径を20mm以下に調製した難透水性構造用粒状ベントナイト遮水材を含有する材料を締固めてなり、透水係数10 −11 cm/秒のオーダー以下の遮水構造体。
- 前記遮水構造体が、産業廃棄物もしくは放射性廃棄物の地中処分の際の遮水構造体または造成地の遮水構造体であることを特徴とする請求項1記載の遮水構造体。
- 塑性限界が10〜35%で、粒径を20mm以下に調製した難透水性構造用粒状ベントナイト遮水材を、締固めエネルギー20cm・kgf/cm3以上で締固め、最大乾燥密度1.5g/cm3以上で且つ透水係数10 −11 cm/秒のオーダー以下とすることを特徴とする遮水構造体の施工方法。
- 締固め時の難透水性構造用粒状ベントナイト遮水材の含水比を15%以上25%未満とすることを特徴とする請求項4記載の遮水構造体の施工方法。
