BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an ink jet recording apparatus that includes an ink jet recording head that is loaded on a carriage that scans in the width direction of a recording paper and that discharges ink droplets from nozzle openings, and more particularly, wipes that wipe the nozzle forming surface of the recording head. The present invention relates to an ink jet recording apparatus configured to suppress ink scattering caused by a restoring force of a member.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Inkjet recording apparatuses are used for many printing including color printing in recent years because noise during printing is relatively small and small dots can be formed with high density. Such an ink jet recording apparatus includes an ink jet recording head that receives ink supplied from an ink cartridge, and a paper feeding unit that moves the recording paper relative to the recording head. The recording head is recorded on the carriage. Recording is performed by ejecting ink droplets onto the recording paper while moving in the width direction of the paper. A recording head capable of ejecting black ink and yellow, cyan, and magenta color inks is mounted on the carriage, and full color printing is possible by changing the ejection ratio of each ink as well as text printing with black ink. It is possible.
[0003]
The recording head used in such a recording apparatus has an ink viscosity caused by evaporation of the solvent from the nozzle opening because the ink pressurized in the pressure generating chamber is printed on the recording paper as ink droplets from the nozzle. There is a problem that printing failure occurs due to the rise of ink, solidification of ink, adhesion of dust, and mixing of bubbles.
[0004]
For this purpose, the ink jet recording apparatus is provided with a capping unit for sealing the nozzle opening of the recording head during non-printing and a wiping member for cleaning the nozzle plate.
The capping unit not only functions as a lid for preventing ink from drying at the nozzle opening of the recording head when printing is paused, but also seals the nozzle forming surface when the nozzle opening is clogged and sucks it. It also has a function of eliminating clogging due to ink solidification at the nozzle opening and ink discharge failure due to air bubbles entering the ink flow path by sucking and discharging ink from the nozzle opening by the negative pressure from the pump.
[0005]
Forcible suction / discharge processing of ink to eliminate clogging of the recording head and mixing of bubbles into the ink flow path is called a cleaning operation, and printing is resumed after a long pause of the device. Or, when the user recognizes that the quality of the recorded image has deteriorated and operates the cleaning switch, for example.
Then, after the ink is discharged from the recording head by the negative pressure by the above-described capping means, the nozzle forming surface of the recording head is wiped (wiped) by a wiping member made of an elastic plate such as rubber, so that the recording head It is comprised so that the adhering ink can be scraped off.
[0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
By the way, in the recording apparatus as described above, an elastic member such as rubber is used as the wiping member, and in the wiping process performed after the ink is sucked and discharged, the wiping member advances on the moving path of the recording head. Thus, the nozzle forming surface is wiped as the head moves. Thereby, for example, the ink adhered to the nozzle forming surface of the recording head by cleaning operation is wiped and cleaned, and contamination such as ink dropping on the recording paper is prevented.
[0007]
In this case, the wiping member is appropriately deformed in a state of being in contact with the nozzle forming surface, and is slidably contacted with the nozzle forming surface by its restoring force, and acts to scrape ink adhering to the nozzle forming surface. Accordingly, at the moment when the wiping member passes through the position where the wiping member is moved by the movement of the recording head, the wiping member is restored by its elastic force, and a phenomenon occurs in which the ink scraped off from the nozzle forming surface is scattered in the apparatus.
The ink that scatters due to the instantaneous restoration of the wiping member mainly scatters to the capping means side, contaminates the drive mechanism part that moves the capping means up and down, and solidifies this, thereby hindering the smooth operation of the drive mechanism and the device. Have the technical problem of reducing the reliability of
[0008]
The present invention has been made paying attention to the technical problems as described above, and provides an ink jet recording apparatus capable of preventing ink scattering by a wiping member and maintaining reliability over a long period of time. It is the purpose.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
An ink jet recording apparatus according to the present invention configured to achieve the above-described object is mounted on a carriage that moves in the width direction of a recording paper, and discharges ink droplets from nozzle openings. A wiping member for wiping the nozzle forming surface of the recording head, located on the recording head moving path, and an inclined surface whose surface position gradually changes along the moving direction of the recording head from the nozzle forming surface of the recording head. A wiping member brought into contact with the recording head into a deformed state, and a buffer member configured to be gradually restored along the inclined surface as the carriage moves. there are, on the lower side surface of the recording head side of the cushioning member, the distance from the recording head side, forms inclined surface portion inclined to the carriage side Wiping before the tongue is formed and the inclined surface is formed from the tip of the lower surface of the tongue on the side of the recording head, is brought into contact with the recording head to be deformed, and is completely restored The member abuts on the tongue portion and is completely restored while being slid along the inclined surface .
[0010]
In the ink jet recording apparatus configured as described above, after the nozzle forming surface of the recording head is sealed by the capping means, and after the cleaning operation for receiving the negative pressure from the suction pump and sucking and discharging the ink is executed, When the carriage moves to the print area side, the wiping member wipes the nozzle forming surface. At this time, since the wiping member brought into contact with the recording head and brought into a deformed state is gradually restored along the inclined surface of the buffer member, it is possible to suppress scattering of ink scraped off from the nozzle forming surface.
[0011]
In particular, the side surface of the buffer member on the recording head side has a tongue-like portion formed with a sloped portion that is inclined toward the carriage side as it is separated from the recording head side. As the carriage moves, it moves onto the slope of the tongue. Therefore, compared to the case where the tongue-like portion is not formed, the ink scraped off from the nozzle forming surface can be further suppressed from being scattered toward the carriage side.
[0012]
Here, it is preferable that a distance between a side surface on the recording head side and a tip end portion of the tongue-shaped portion is 1.5 mm to 2.0 mm. With this configuration, ink does not accumulate due to surface tension in the gap between the two, and an appropriate buffering action can be obtained.
Further, it is desirable that an angle formed between the inclined surface of the buffer member and the nozzle forming surface of the recording head is greater than 0 degree and not greater than 11 degrees. As described above, when the angle formed between the inclined surface of the buffer member and the nozzle forming surface of the recording head is set to 0 degree or more and 11 degrees or less, the ink attached to the wiping member is removed. It can be moved to the inclined surface of the tongue-shaped portion better, and the scattering of ink to the carriage side can be suppressed. Further, the wiping member can be gradually restored along the inclined surface of the buffer member, and scattering of the ink scraped off from the nozzle forming surface can be suppressed.
[0013]
Furthermore, it is desirable that the buffer member is positioned by engaging a recess formed in the buffer member with a guide projection formed integrally with the carriage.
As described above, since the recess formed in the buffer member engages with the guide protrusion, the buffer member is positioned. Therefore, the buffer member can be easily and accurately attached to the carriage.
Further, it is preferable that the buffer member is disposed on the capping means side adjacent to the recording head.
As described above, since the buffer member is disposed on the capping unit side adjacent to the recording head, it is possible to suppress the scattering of ink from the wiping member to the capping unit side, and the operation reliability of the capping unit over a long period of time. Sex can be secured.

The capping means 9 functions as a lid for preventing the nozzle opening of the recording head from drying during the rest period of the recording apparatus, and applies a drive signal unrelated to printing to the recording head to eject ink droplets idly. It functions as an ink receiver during the flushing operation, and also has a function as a cleaning unit that sucks ink by applying a negative pressure from the suction pump 10 to the recording head.
[0016]
In the vicinity of the printing area side of the capping means 9, a wiping member 11 made of an elastic plate such as rubber is disposed so as to be able to advance and retreat in the horizontal direction, for example, and the carriage 1 reciprocates to the capping means 9 side. When moving, it is configured to advance on the moving path of the recording head as needed to wipe the nozzle forming surface of the recording head.

【The invention's effect】
As is apparent from the above description, according to the ink jet recording apparatus of the present invention, when the wiping member performs the wiping operation on the nozzle forming surface, the wiping member that is in contact with the recording head and is in a deformed state is Since it is gradually restored along the inclined surface of the member, it is possible to suppress scattering of ink scraped off from the nozzle forming surface.
[0035]
In particular, the side surface of the buffer member on the recording head side has a tongue-like portion formed with a sloped portion that is inclined toward the carriage side as it is separated from the recording head side. Move to the slope of the tongue. Therefore, it is possible to suppress scattering of the ink scraped off from the nozzle forming surface to the carriage side as compared with the case where the tongue-shaped portion is not formed.
