BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention can obtain the coordinates of any indicated position on the screen. Ruge The present invention relates to a method for controlling a loop device.
[0002]
[Background Art and Problems to be Solved by the Invention]
Conventionally, game devices that can shoot targets on a screen using a game controller such as a gun controller have been known and gained popularity. In such a game apparatus, a target displayed on the screen is shot without an actual bullet being shot from a gun. Therefore, how to accurately detect the landing position at the time of shooting is a major technical problem. As a technique for detecting such an accurate landing position, for example, JP-A-8-117447, Background art disclosed in Kaihei 8-117448 is known.
[0003]
However, when the above-described shooting game is to be realized in, for example, a home game device, the following problem occurs. That is, home game devices generally have a small number of external output terminals. For example, position detection using a synchronization signal is difficult, and there is a problem that landing position detection is inaccurate. A method of correcting this inaccuracy by software processing is also conceivable, but in any case, the same level of detection accuracy as that of a commercial game device cannot be ensured. Also, if the cable routing of the game controller becomes too complicated, there is a problem that the convenience of the player is hindered.
[0004]
The present invention has been made to solve the technical problems as described above, and an object of the present invention is to obtain accurate coordinates of the indicated position by using a synchronization signal. Ruge It is to provide a method for controlling a loop device.
[0005]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above problems, the present invention is a game controller used in a game device having a first terminal to which a video signal is output and a second terminal to which a control signal is input. A first cable for transmitting the video signal output from the terminal, a second cable for transmitting the control signal input to the second terminal, and a separating means for separating the synchronization signal from the video signal An indicator that can be directed in an arbitrary direction, a light detection means that is provided on the indicator and detects light from an indication position of the indicator on the screen of the display device, the separation means, and the light And position calculation means for obtaining coordinates of the indicated position based on an output from the detection means.
[0006]
According to the present invention, the video signal output from the first terminal is input to the separating means, and a synchronizing signal, for example, a horizontal synchronizing signal and a vertical synchronizing signal are separated from the video signal. Based on this synchronization signal and the output from the light detection means, the coordinates of the indicated position, for example, the landing position, are obtained. According to the present invention, since the coordinate calculation is performed using the synchronization signal, it is possible to obtain accurate coordinates of the indicated position. In addition, since the synchronization signal is generated and calculated separately from the video signal, the coordinate calculation of the indicated position can have a time margin as compared with the case where the CPU or the like performs the coordinate calculation by the interrupt process. Furthermore, accurate coordinate calculation is possible even in a game apparatus in which a synchronization signal is not output from the first terminal. Note that the second terminal only needs to input at least a control signal, and may be an input / output terminal capable of outputting a given signal.
[0007]
According to the present invention, the first cable transmits the video signal from the first terminal to the second cable, and the second cable transmits the control signal to the second terminal. The video signal from the first cable is transmitted.
[0008]
By doing in this way, it becomes possible to make one cable connected to indicators, such as a gun. As a result, complication of cable routing can be prevented and the convenience of the player can be improved.
[0009]
In the present invention, a third terminal is formed so as to be connectable to the first terminal via a given cable or directly, and transmits the video signal from the first terminal to the first cable. And connected to the video input terminal of the display device or the connector terminal of the first cable of the second game controller via a given cable or directly from the first terminal to the third terminal. A connector having a fourth terminal for transmitting the video signal transmitted through the terminal to the video input terminal or the connector terminal;
[0010]
According to the present invention, for example, the first terminal of the game device can be connected to the third terminal of the connector, and the video input terminal of the display device can be connected to the fourth terminal of the connector via the given cable. Alternatively, one terminal of the connector of the second game controller (the third terminal of the connector of the second game controller) is connected to the fourth terminal, and the other terminal (the fourth terminal of the connector of the second game controller is connected). The video input terminal can be connected to the terminal via a given cable. By doing so, it becomes possible to transmit the video signal from the first terminal to the game controller, the second game controller, and the display device without forcing the player to make complicated wiring different from usual. .
[0011]
Further, the present invention is characterized in that the separating means is provided in the indicator.
[0012]
In this way, it is possible to perform accurate coordinate calculation while downsizing the game controller.
[0013]
In the present invention, the separating means may be provided in any of a connector for connecting the first cable and the first terminal and a connector for connecting the second cable and the second terminal. it can.
[0014]
The present invention also provides an information storage medium including information for operating a game device using any one of the game controllers described above, and a game based on the coordinates of the indicated position obtained by any one of the game controllers. It includes information for performing calculation and information for combining an image to be displayed on the display device based on a result of the game calculation.
[0015]
According to the present invention, using a game controller capable of accurate coordinate calculation of the indicated position, for example, it is possible to perform game calculation such as target hit determination, game production according to the determination result, and so on, and overflowing with a sense of realism, It is possible to provide an information storage medium capable of realizing a game that can increase the degree of enthusiasm of the player.
