【課題を解決するための手段】
上記の目的を達成するため、本発明の導電性弾性ロールは、最外層に弾性ゴム層を有する導電性弾性ロールであって、上記弾性ゴム層の表面に、多数の微小亀裂が形成され、各微小亀裂の長さが0.1〜120μm、各微小亀裂の深さが0.1〜25μm、上記弾性ゴム層の表面での隣り合う微小亀裂間の距離が0.3〜60μmであるという構成をとる。

すなわち、本発明者らは、フィルミングの発生を抑える導電性弾性ロールについて、一連の研究を重ねた。この研究の過程で、導電性弾性ロールの表面を構成する材料の検討が行われた。例えば、離型性の観点ではシリコーンゴム,フロロシリコーンゴム,フッ素樹脂が良好であるが、シリコーンゴム,フロロシリコーンゴムは耐摩耗性が劣り、フッ素樹脂は硬度が硬く、ロールの柔軟性が確保できない。そこで、離型性,耐摩耗性,低硬度特性の両立を目指してさらに一連の研究を重ねた。その結果、導電性弾性ロールの弾性ゴム層の表面に、多数の微小亀裂を形成し、各微小亀裂の長さを0.1〜120μm、各微小亀裂の深さを0.1〜25μm、上記弾性ゴム層の表面での隣り合う微小亀裂間の距離を0.3〜60μmにすれば、所期の目的を達成できることを見いだし、本発明に到達した。なお、本発明において、導電性弾性ロールとは、現像ロールだけでなく、転写ロール,帯電ロール等のトナーに接する各種のロールも含まれる。

【発明の実施の形態】
つぎに、本発明の実施の形態を図面にもとづいて詳しく説明する。

図1は、本発明の導電性弾性ロールの一実施の形態を示している。この実施の形態では、導電性弾性ロールの例として、現像ロールについて説明する。この現像ロール1は、芯金2と、この芯金2の外周部に装着されたベースゴム層3(弾性ゴム層)と、このベースゴム層3の外周部に塗布されたコーティング層4(弾性ゴム層)とからなっている。このコーティング層4は、内側の下層4aと、外側の表層4bとの2層からなり、この表層4bの表面に多数の微小亀裂が形成されている。

【実施例1〜17および比較例1】
SUM20製シャフトに無電解ニッケルメッキ処理を施した芯金を準備し、この芯金を円筒金型にセットしたのち、ベースゴム層形成材料であるシリコーンゴムコンパウンドを注型し、加熱加硫させたのち、脱型してベースロールを得る。このベースロールの外周面に水素化ニトリルゴム(H−NBR)コンパウンド溶液を塗布し、加熱して下層4aを形成した。ついで、ニトリルゴム(NBR)コンパウンド溶液を塗布し、加熱して表層4bを形成した。このようにして現像ロール1を得た。なお、表層4bのJIS(A)引裂強さは35N/mmであった。実施例1〜17は、上述した微小亀裂形成の方法により、微小亀裂の状態に影響を与える条件を変えて、現像ロール1の表層4bの表面に微小亀裂を形成したものである。比較例1は、現像ロール1の表層4bの表面に微小亀裂を形成していないものである。なお、現像ロール1の回転数は一定としている。このようにして得た実施例1〜17の結果を下記の表1〜4に示す。

〔画質の評価〕
