BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a surface light source unit, a display device including the surface light source unit, and an electronic apparatus.
[0002]
[Background Art and Problems to be Solved by the Invention]
As a surface light source unit used in a display device such as a liquid crystal display device, a light source is disposed along one end surface of the light guide plate, and the remaining end surface of the light guide plate and the back surface of the light guide plate are covered with a light-reflective fixing frame. There is something that was formed. In such a surface light source unit, in order to direct most of the light from the light source to the light guide plate, it is common to use a reflector that covers the light source except the light guide plate side and reflects the light toward the light guide plate. Is.
[0003]
As the light source, a fluorescent tube with high energy efficiency such as a cold cathode tube is often used. The fluorescent tube is provided with electrodes near both ends thereof, and has a property that light emission is small in the vicinity thereof. Therefore, when a fluorescent tube having a length substantially equal to the width of the light guide plate is arranged along one end surface of the light guide plate, there is a problem that light emission from the light guide plate at a position corresponding to the vicinity of the end of the fluorescent tube is small. .
[0004]
Therefore, the length of the fluorescent tube is made longer than the corresponding side of the light guide plate so that only the central portion of the fluorescent tube with appropriate brightness is arranged along one side of the light guide plate, and the end of the fluorescent tube It is conceivable to arrange the vicinity so as to protrude from the corresponding side of the light guide plate. However, if the fluorescent tube is protruded from the corresponding side of the light guide plate in this way, there arises a problem that unnecessary leakage light is emitted from the vicinity of the end of the fluorescent tube.
[0005]
In addition, there is a reflector that is overlapped with a part of the front surface and the back surface of the light guide plate and bonded and fixed to the light guide plate with a double-sided tape or the like. However, when the reflector is bonded to the light guide plate using a double-sided tape or the like, the double-sided tape or the like is interposed between the light guide plate and the reflector. It will decline. Moreover, the operation of attaching the reflector using a double-sided tape or the like is an operation that requires careful attention in positioning the reflector, and requires a large number of man-hours. Further, since the reflector partially overlaps the light guide plate, the reflector covers a part of the front surface of the light guide plate, and the area cannot be used as a surface light source. Only the light guide plate needs to be enlarged. Therefore, in such a surface light source unit, the ratio of the light emitting surface area to the outer shape is reduced.
