Description
【0001】
メインメモリ116は、標準のDRAM(ダイナミック・ランダムアクセスメモリ)、EDO(拡張データ出力)DRAM、SDRAM(同期型DRAM)等の適切なメモリ技術を含む。
本実施例において、IDEコネクタ124は2台以上の、ハードディスクドライブ、CD−ROM(コンパクトディスク・読取り専用メモリ)ドライブ、DVD(ディジタル・ビデオ・ディスク又はディジタル・バーサタイルディスク)ドライブ、又はTBU(テープ・バックアップユニット)装置のような標準IDEタイプの装置に接続される。
【0014】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates generally to the field of information processing systems, and more particularly to an electronic program guide for preferential viewing of programs.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In an integrated system in which an information processing system and a television system are combined to improve a program viewing environment, an electronic system is used to determine scheduled program information so that the user can change each viewing habit according to the scheduled program. A program guide (EPG) is often used.
[0003]
For example, users may use an electronic program guide to determine when a program is scheduled so that they can watch the program they prefer at home at the scheduled broadcast time. If the user is unable to stay home at the scheduled time, the user can program a video cassette recorder (VCR) to record the television program while on the go for viewing the program later.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, one disadvantage of such a system is that the electronic program guide is monitored to determine the type of program each user wants to watch and retrieve the scheduled time for the desired type of program. , Determine if the program should be recorded, and then program the VCR by hand to record the desired program. Furthermore, it is the user's responsibility to specify programs and store them in a custom program library. Therefore, it would be very advantageous to provide a system that automatically performs the functions described above.
[0005]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention relates to a method for executing a preferential viewing library for programs. In one embodiment, the method includes searching electronic program data to find a program that satisfies the criteria, determining whether a program in the program guide meets the criteria, and a program in the program guide. If the criteria are met, the program reserves recording of the program at a predetermined time, the time is monitored to determine whether the current time is the predetermined time, and the current time is the predetermined time If so, the method includes the steps of recording the program and organizing the recorded program into the program library so that the user can select the program from the program library and view the recorded program at an appropriate time. .
[0006]
The present invention is further adapted to a system that provides preferential viewing of one or more selected programs. In one embodiment, a system includes a processor that executes an instruction program on an information processing system, a memory that is coupled to the processor and stores the instruction program, an electronic program guide that is executed as an instruction program by the processor, and an information processing system. A recording apparatus coupled to and controlled by an electronic program guide; and an information recording medium readable by an information processing system. On the information recording medium, one or more programs are recorded on the information storage medium by the electronic program guide. A system in which the program guide is recorded in the form of a library of programs, and the program guide is adapted to retrieve program guide data to search for programs satisfying predetermined conditions and to record the programs in a library on an information recording medium.
