で、上記珪藻土やフライアッシュ等とともに産業廃棄物
の再利用に貢献することができ、しかも産業用資材を安
価に製造することができる。さらにまた、上記鋳物砂を
用いることにより、通常の砂を用いる場合に比較してよ

ていない純粋な珪藻土を用いた場合に比較して、結合剤
の添加量を約1/2としても同程度の強度を確保するこ
とができた。次に、上記砂としては鋳物の製造工程で用
いられた砂型用の鋳物砂を使用している。砂は製造後の
産業用資材の強度に関係し、通常の砂を用いるよりも鋳
物砂を用いる方がより高い強度を得ることができた。上
記珪藻土と砂とは任意の割合で混合することができる
が、砂の割合を高めることによってより高い強度を得る
ことができる。反面、砂の割合を高めるとその分重くな
るので、産業用資材の用途に伴う産業用資材の強度と重
量とを考慮して、珪藻土と砂との割合を決定すればよ
い。上記灰は、上記ビールや日本酒の製造工程で濾過材
として用いられた珪藻土を用いることによって生じる臭
いを除去するために添加するもので、灰を添加しない場
合には産業用資材の製造後にも臭いが残り、その用途が
限られてしまう。上記灰としては、微粉炭燃焼ボイラー
で燃焼された後のフライアッシュ、タイヤを燃やした後
の灰を用いることができる。また灰の代わりに石炭殻、
或いは活性炭を用いることができる。上記結合剤として
は、上述した公報と同様に高分子化学薬品を主成分とし
た混合剤を用いることができるが、必ずしもこれに限定
されるものではなく、珪藻土と砂と水との混練物を固化
させることができるものであればよい。次に、上記珪藻
土と灰と砂と結合剤と水とを混練したら、これを所定の
形状に成形する。混練物は粘土状となっているので、こ
れを所定の形状に成形する際には、予め製造した所要形
状の成形型内に混練物を注入すればよい。この際には、
バイブレータ等を用いて緻密な状態に圧縮すれことが望
ましい。或いは、混練物を一対のローラ内に挿通させて
連続したパネル状に成形してもよく、この場合にはこれ
を適当な大きさのタイル状又はブロック状に切断するこ
とができる。このようにして、混練物を所定の形状に成
形したら、該成形品を常温下で放置し、自然に乾燥硬化
させればよい。このようにして製造した産業用資材は、
高い強度と靭性を備えるため、各種ブロック、瓦、敷
石、アスファルト舗道の代替品としての舗装用材料とし
て利用することができ、或いはコンクリート製二次製品
の代替品としての各種U又はL字溝、外壁材、治水ブロ
ック、テトラポット、魚しょう、防波堤用材料、鉄道用
枕木、住宅用基礎材、ビルの躯体、橋脚等、広範囲に利
用することができる。また上記産業用資材は珪藻土によ
る優れた吸音性能、遮音性能をも有しているので、その
