Field of the Invention The present invention relates to an LED display device for electronically displaying information such as characters using a large number of LEDs. 2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, there has been known an LED display device which displays various kinds of information by arranging a large number of LEDs on a substrate in a matrix or in a specific character or symbol shape. I have. FIGS. 1 and 2 show a conventional example of such an apparatus.
This will be described with reference to FIG. The exterior case 1 has a box shape with an open display surface side, and has a display substrate 3 on which a large number of LEDs 2 are arranged, and a drive substrate 4 for energizing the LEDs 2 on the display substrate 3.
And a controller 5 for controlling the lighting of the LEDs on the display board according to a procedure programmed through the drive board 4
Drive board 4 and controller 5 (not shown)
And a power supply for supplying power to the power supply. A plurality of display substrates 3 and drive substrates 4 are provided for each display unit, and are fixed to the outer case 1 via spacers 7. On the other hand, the controller 5 and the power supply device are singular. [0004] 8 is a translucent plate that covers the display surface,
Reference numeral 9 denotes a frame for holding the periphery of the light-transmitting plate 8. The light-transmitting plate 8 is fixed to the display surface by fixing the frame 9 to the outer case 1 with screws. The translucent plate 8 is generally made of a transparent glass plate in order to satisfy a necessary condition that it is resistant to heat and less deformed. [0005] In the above-mentioned conventional LED display device, since the translucent plate 8 is a transparent glass plate, external light from the sun or the like is exposed in the exterior case 1. The LED and the like were clearly visible from outside through the light-transmitting plate 8.
For this reason, when the display surface is viewed relatively close, the LED can be visually recognized as a dot even when the LED is not lit, and the visibility of the lit and displayed information is reduced. In addition, there is also a problem that a seam or the like of the display substrate 4 appears through the translucent plate 8 when viewed from close, and it is difficult to see. [0006] On the other hand, there has been seen one in which the translucent plate 8 is made translucent by coloring or pasting a coloring sheet to reduce the influence of extraneous light. But in this,
This reduces the incidence of extraneous light and at the same time reduces the output of the lighting light from the LED, and it is not possible to obtain a sufficient effect for improving the visibility. Further, in order to make the display device lighter and cheaper, there is already known one in which the translucent plate 8 is made of a synthetic resin having high translucency such as acrylic. However, these synthetic resins are generally weaker to heat and easier to deform than glass. Or, there is a problem that adversely affects the visibility. Accordingly, the object of the present invention is to
It is to solve the above-mentioned problems, to improve the visibility of the information displayed by lighting, and to obtain an LED display device that is not unsightly even if the translucent plate 8 is made of synthetic resin. According to the present invention, a plurality of display substrates on which a large number of LEDs are arranged are fixed to an exterior case having two display surfaces formed on the front and back sides, each having an open display surface side. In an LED display device which forms a display surface and illuminates and displays information such as characters, a drive circuit portion is formed in a portion of each of the display boards where LEDs are not mounted, and the drive circuit section is provided between the front and back of the display board. A controller for controlling lighting of the LED in a programmed procedure is provided, and a light-transmitting plate made of a synthetic resin is attached to the outer case so as to cover the display surface and the drive circuit portion. A matte coating is applied to the surface of the light-transmitting plate, and a black paint is applied to a peripheral portion corresponding to the drive circuit portion on the back surface of the light-transmitting plate so as to be non-light-transmitting. It is a feature of the present invention to solve the above problem. FIG. 3 to FIG. 5 show an embodiment of the present invention.
This will be described based on FIG. FIG. 3 is an explanatory front view of the embodiment, and FIG. 4 is an explanatory longitudinal sectional view of the embodiment. The outer case 1 is formed of a frame material having a substantially U-shaped cross section, and has four sides, that is, upper, lower, left and right sides, and is opened to the front and rear in a substantially rectangular shape.
And the front and back surfaces are used as display surfaces. A fixing plate 10 having a U-shaped cross section is fixed to the inside of two opposing surfaces on the longitudinal side of the four side surfaces formed by the exterior case 1, and two display substrates 3 are attached between the fixing plates 10. Can be The display substrate 3 has a red light emitting LED.
2 are arranged in a matrix.
The drive circuit unit 11 is formed on the plate surface on which the ED is not mounted. The drive circuit section 11 selectively turns on the LED 2 provided on the board 3 in response to a signal from the controller 5. If the necessary pipe element cannot be mounted only by the space above the board 3, the drive circuit section 11 moves downward to the board 3. What is necessary is just to disperse | distribute and to arrange a main element in the controller 5 side. The translucent plate 8 is made of acrylic and is made of an LED.
The translucent plate 8 has a translucent color that is the same red color as the emission color of the light-emitting plate 2.
A black paint 12 is applied by silk printing at a position corresponding to the peripheral portion where is not attached, and is made non-translucent. Further, as shown in FIG. 5, a matting agent is sprayed on the surface of the translucent plate 8 to spray the matting coating 1.
3 is applied to prevent light reflected on the surface of the plate 8 from being diffused and the reflected light from hindering display visibility. This embodiment is configured as described above. Since the translucent plate 8 is translucent colored red, which is the same as the emission color of the LED 2, the light of the wavelength generated by the LED (red Although the light can be transmitted satisfactorily without blocking, external light such as sunlight that enters into the inside through the translucent plate 8 can be reduced. Further, the drive circuit 11 is formed in a portion of the display substrate 3 where the LEDs are not mounted, so that it is not necessary to provide a separate drive substrate as in the prior art, and the device can be made thinner.
This is particularly effective when both front and back surfaces are used as display surfaces as in the embodiment. Further, the driving circuit 1 for the translucent plate 8
Since the portion corresponding to No. 1 is coated with a black paint to be non-light-transmitting, even if the drive circuit 11 is formed on the surface of the display substrate 3, the drive circuit 11 is not seen from the outside and is good. Appearance is obtained. Although the embodiment of the present invention is applied to a matrix display device as an embodiment, the present invention is also effective when fixed information is displayed by arranging LEDs in symbols or characters such as arrows as shown in FIG. In this case, as shown in FIG. 6, if the black paint is printed in the form of an arrow in accordance with the arrangement of the LEDs, the outline of the arrow becomes clear and the visibility can be improved.
