【従来の技術】光ファイバ分配フレーム、例えば、AT
&Tのクロス接続(LGX)(米国登録商標)分配フレ
ームは、入来ファイバ光ケーブルを顧客の装置に接続す
るのに用いられる。このフレームは通常複数の棚を有
し、各棚は単一または複数のモジュールを有し、このモ
ジュールにより入来ケーブルのファイバの光学的な接続
が実現される。クロス接続ジャンパケーブル(パッチコ
ードとも称される)は光学的に接続されるモジュール間
の装置の前面に装備される(米国特許第4630886
号を参照のこと)。

- 【請求項1】 複数の棚(11、14)と、 光学的にケーブル(12、13)からの光ファイバを光
ファイバジャンパケーブル(15)に接続するために、
棚に搭載された複数のモジュール(18、19)とを有
し、前記モジュール(18)のうちの少なくとも一つは
第1波長の情報信号を受信し、及び、光ファイバジャン
パケーブル(15)を介してそこに接続されている他の
モジュール(19)に情報信号を発信する受信・発信手
段(20、50、51)を有し、さらに同一のジャンパ
ケーブルを介して第2波長のテスト信号を前記接続され
ている他のモジュールに対して発信する手段(53、5
4、51、22)を有し、前記他のモジュールは前記モ
ジュールの1つにより発信されるテスト信号を受信・モ
ニタする手段(53)を有することを特徴とする光ファ
イバ分配フレーム。 - 【請求項2】 2つのモジュールとも、ジャンパケーブ
ルを介したテスト信号を発信する手段と受信する手段と
の両方を有することを特徴とする請求項1の装置。 - 【請求項3】 各モジュールを、ジャンパケーブルによ
り接続されるべきモジュールのデータベースを有するコ
ンピュータ(72)に電気的に接続する手段(62、6
4、66、68、70、71)と、 前記コンピュータ(72)に、接続されているモジュー
ルに対してテストが行われていることを伝える手段(5
3)とをさらに有することを特徴とする請求項1の装
置。 - 【請求項4】 ケーブル内の光ファイバを介して第2テ
スト信号を発信し、前記信号の発射を受信・モニタする

(54)であることを特徴とする請求項1の装置。 - 【請求項8】 テスト信号を発信する手段は光発光素子
(54)を有し、この光発光素子(54)は光学的に光
タップ(51)の1つのポートと接続され、前記タップ
の他のポートは光学的にジャンパケーブルに接続される
ことを特徴とする請求項1の装置。 - 【請求項9】 前記受信・モニタ手段はマイクロプロセ
ッサ(53)が電気的に接続されている光検知器(5
5)を有することを特徴とする請求項1の装置。 - 【請求項10】 ケーブル(12)内の光ファイバをジ
ャンパケーブル(15)内の光ファイバに光学的に接続
するモジュール(18)において、 ジャンパケーブルに光学的に接続するのに適合するジャ
ック(22)と、 第1波長の情報信号を前記ジャンパケーブルに接続する
手段(50)とを有し、 第2波長のテスト信号をジャンパケーブルに対して発信
するために、光学的に前記ジャックに接続した光発光素
子(54)と、 前記テスト信号の発信を制御するために、電気的に前記
素子に接続するマイクロプロセッサ(53)とをさらに
有することを特徴とするモジュール。 - 【請求項11】 前記光発光素子はCDレーザであるこ
とを特徴とする請求項10の装置。 - 【請求項12】 光タップ(51)をさらに有し、前記
光発光素子は光学的にこのタップの1つのポートに接続
され、前記タップの他のポートは光学的に前記ジャック
に接続されることを特徴とする請求項10の装置。 - 【請求項13】 ジャンパケーブルに光学的に接続する
のに適合した他のジャック(23)と光学的に接続され
た光検知器(55)を有することを特徴とする請求項1
0の装置。 - 【請求項14】 前記光検知器は波長分割マルチプレク
サ(56)を介して前記他のジャックに接続されること
を特徴とする請求項13の装置。 - 【請求項15】 ケーブル内の光ファイバを介して第2
テスト信号を発信し、さらに前記第2テスト信号の反射
を検知する手段(58、50)をさらに有することを特
徴とする請求項10の装置。 - 【請求項16】 第2テスト信号を発信する手段は波長
分割マルチプレクサ(50)を有することを特徴とする
