2. Description of the Related Art A liquid crystal display device is a display device such as a word processor or other liquid crystal television, which uses a liquid crystal sandwiched by a polarizing plate and utilizes the optical properties of the liquid crystal by a change in molecular orientation due to an electric field. As shown in FIG. 5, a protective film 2 is attached to the polarizing plate 1 by an automatic machine to prevent intrusion of foreign matter and dirt. Similarly, a peeling tape 3 longer than the polarizing plate 1 is pasted and attached to the surface of the protective film 2 in the horizontal or vertical direction by an automatic machine, and the peeling tape 3 is driven and rotated by a motor 4 as shown in FIG. The protective film 2 is peeled off by being horizontally pulled in a direction opposite to the traveling direction and automatically wound up. The polarizing plate 1 from which the protective film has been peeled is conveyed to the next step, and the polarizing plate 1 is subjected to respective treatments, thereby forming a liquid crystal display element between the two polarizing plates according to a predetermined operation procedure.
The attachment of the protective film is based on the attachment of an adhesive having relatively low adhesiveness.

[0005] However, in the above-described configuration in which the long stripping tape 3 is attached, as shown in FIG.
From the protective film 2 together with the release tape 3
Is to be peeled from the polarizing plate 2, since the peeling base 3a of the peeling tape 3 is almost at the center and the tape width is narrow,
In order to simultaneously peel off both ends of the edge 2a of the wide protective film 2, a peeling tape having a strong adhesive force is required. The adhesive for bonding the polarizing plate 1 and the protective film 3 has different adhesive strength depending on the material, temperature, humidity, and the like, and thus the degree of difficulty in peeling the protective film is different. When the adhesive force between the plate 1 and the protective film 2 is strong, it may not be possible to pull quickly and smoothly.

The difference in the difficulty of peeling depending on conditions such as the adhesive strength between the transparent substrate and the protective film, temperature and humidity, and the bonding of the peeling tape to the protective film is caused by the total length of the polarizing plate. In spite of the longer length, the release tape is narrow, and in the peeling, a force in the width direction is not applied to the entire width, and the full width of the protective tape edge may not be generated at one time.

The procedure for peeling off the protective film of the polarizing plate 1 having the above-described structure will be described in detail. The polarizing plate 1 with the protective film 2 attached thereto is mounted on the polarizing plate positioning table C of the automatic operation device A shown in FIG.
And set it on one corner 2a of the protective film 2.
One end of the release tape 3 cut to a predetermined short length by the automatic tape cutter D is protruded outward and is adhered by a mechanism (not shown) of the device, and the protrusion 3a is gripped by the gripper 5 of the robot B. And an evoking angle of about 30 °, with an initial speed of 0.
The robot B is operated under the condition of 5 to 1.0 cm, and at the same time, the polarizing plate positioning table C is rotated in the downward arrow direction opposite to the operation direction of the robot. These operations and steps are automatically controlled by a program input to a computer.

The angle at which the peeling tape is caused and the initial speed are important conditions for peeling, and a mechanism for gripping the peeling tape by the robot B, pulling it in the diagonal direction 2b, and rotating the polarizing plate positioning table C downward. As a result, regardless of the variation in the adhesive strength of the polarizing plate 1 and the protective film 2 and the effect of temperature and humidity, as long as the peeling tape 3 is firmly attached, first, one corner of the protective film 2 2a can be reliably caused, and at the same time, a wide surface of the polarizing plate can be surely peeled off. The polarizing plate 1 from which the protective film 2 has been peeled is conveyed to the next step, and when processing of a pair of polarizing plates and other predetermined operations are completed, liquid crystal is sequentially injected between the two polarizing plates to form a liquid crystal display element. The peeled protective film or peeling tape is automatically collected at the predetermined portion E.

According to the method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device of the present invention, a peeling tape cut to a predetermined short dimension is fixed diagonally to one corner of a protective film attached to the surface of a polarizing plate, and the peeling is performed by an automatic machine. The protruding part of the tape is gripped and raised in the diagonal direction of the polarizing plate to be pulled and to rotate the polarizing plate in the opposite direction. In the case where a release tape is attached over, the release tape having a small width does not cause the entire edge of the protective film even if it is caused and pulled,
As a result, defects such as defective polarizers are improved, and even at the initial stage of peeling, even in the case of a peeling tape with different adhesive strength, temperature, humidity, etc., at the initial stage of peeling, one corner of the protective film having a small area is first used. Can be surely caused without requiring a strong force. (2) The occurrence of defective polarizing plates is extremely reduced, and the yield of the polarizing plates is improved. (3) The selection of the release tape is easy and simple. (4) The protective film is caused by the peeling tape, and the polarizing plate is rotated in the opposite direction at the same time as the pulling, so that the pulling operation and time of the peeling tape are half that of the case where the polarizing plate is fixed and pulled, and the peeling is performed. The rotation angle of the polarizing plate positioning table is automatically controlled in accordance with the peeling position of the protective film, and the optimum angle (30 °) where peeling is most easily maintained is always maintained. And the peeling operation is smooth. (5) Since the initial peeling of the release tape is reliable, it is not necessary to use a long tape as in the prior art, so that the material and the attachment process of the tape can be reduced and the cost can be reduced. (6) The generation of a polarizing plate having poor peeling is suppressed, and the generation of a protective film and the step of sandwiching the liquid crystal are stably connected to each other to control and operate, thereby preventing foreign matter and dust from entering the liquid crystal. Now you can. (7) Since the peeling time is stabilized, the generation of static electricity is reduced.
