生体接着を制御するため、テクスチャ加工表面と接触する流体の流れ制御のため、および種々の他の理由のために、表面のテクスチャ加工が開発されている。図1は、生体接着の制御および流量制御に使用され得る表面テクスチャ100を示している。テクスチャは、少なくとも1つの方向で互いに平行な縁部130を有するように配置された複数の特徴部111を含む。図1に見られるように、特徴部は、テクスチャ加工表面全体に繰り返されるパターン(点線によって包含される)102で配置される。
本明細書では、表面をテクスチャ加工するためのテンプレートを使用する方法が開示されており、当該方法には、物品表面をテンプレートと接触させることであって、テンプレートが、その上に配置されたテクスチャを有する可溶性ポリマーを含み、テクスチャが、第1の複数の離間特徴部を含むパターンを含み、離間特徴部が、複数のグループで配置され、グループ内の離間特徴部が、約1ナノメートル~約500マイクロメートルの平均距離で離間され、各特徴部が、隣接する特徴部上の表面に実質的に平行な表面を有し、各特徴部が、その隣接する特徴部から分離され、特徴部のグループが、曲折経路を画定するように互いに配置され、テンプレートが、最大厚さ1.5ミリメートルおよび最大厚さの40%以下の最小厚さを有する自立フィルムの形態であり、テクスチャ加工表面の表面積が、少なくとも10cm2超である、接触させることと、テンプレートを溶解させる溶媒で、物品表面を洗浄することと、が含まれる。

ここで、A1の前の記号は、テクスチャがテンプレートのベース表面から突出するか、またはテンプレートのベース表面に突出するかを示している。正の符号(+)は、テクスチャがベース表面から突出していることを示し、負の符号(-)は、テクスチャがベース表面に突出していることを示している。用語A1は、ベース表面の上または下のテクスチャの高さまたは深さをマイクロメートルで表し、A2は、パターン内の各特徴部の幅をマイクロメートルで表し、A3は、パターン内の特徴部間の間隔をマイクロメートルで表している。SKという用語は、Brennan et al.の米国特許第7143709(B2)号、およびBrennan et al.の米国特許出願第12/550,870号に示され、記載されているSHARKLET(登録商標)パターンテクスチャを表す。Sharklet(登録商標)パターンテクスチャは、図4Aおよび図5に示されるテクスチャである。

Claims (22)
- 表面をテクスチャ加工するためのテンプレートを使用する方法であって、
物品表面をテンプレートと接触させることであって、前記テンプレートが、その上に配置されたテクスチャを有する可溶性ポリマーを含み、前記テクスチャが、第1の複数の離間特徴部を含むパターンを含み、前記離間特徴部が、複数のグループで配置され、グループ内の前記離間特徴部が、約1ナノメートル~約500マイクロメートルの平均距離で離間され、各特徴部が、隣接する特徴部上の表面に実質的に平行な表面を有し、各特徴部が、その隣接する特徴部から分離され、前記特徴部のグループが、曲折経路を画定するように互いに配置され、前記テンプレートが、最大厚さ1.5ミリメートルおよび前記最大厚さの40%以下の最小厚さを有する自立フィルムの形態であり、前記テクスチャ加工表面の前記表面積が、少なくとも10cm2超である、接触させることと、
前記テンプレートを溶解させる溶媒で、前記物品表面を洗浄することと、を含む、方法。 - 前記ポリマーが、水溶性である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマーが、有効溶媒中で0.5~10グラム/分の溶解速度を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマーが、直鎖熱可塑性非晶質ポリマーまたは架橋ポリマーである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマーが、ポリビニルアルコール、ポリアクリルアミド、ポリヘキサメチルセルロース、ポリヘキサエチルセルロース、ポリエチレンイミン、ポリビニルピロリドン、ポリアミドアミン、ポリエチレングリコール、またはそれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマーが、ポリビニルアルコール、ポリアクリルアミド、ポリヘキサメチルセルロース、ポリヘキサエチルセルロース、ポリエチレンイミン、ポリエチレングリコール、ポリビニルピロリドン、またはポリアミドアミンのうちの少なくとも1つのコポリマーである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記複数の離間特徴部が、前記テンプレートの表面に突出されている、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記特徴部のグループが、線形経路または複数のチャネルを画定するように互いに対して配置されている、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記曲折経路が、正弦曲線またはスプライン関数によって画定されている、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記テクスチャが、前記テンプレートの対向する表面上に配置されている、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記物品に接触する前記表面に対向する前記テンプレートの表面上のテクスチャが、前記物品に付与される前記テクスチャに対してある角度で傾いている、請求項10に記載の方法。
- 前記可溶性ポリマーが、ポリビニルアルコールである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記溶媒が、水性溶媒である、請求項1に記載の方法。
